Please include a summary of key deliverables. As a research lab at William & Mary, we are in the business of undertaking large-scale data collection on Chinese development finance projects funded all over the world. Our dataset contains 150 columns and nearly 26,000 rows, with many fields calculated automatically based on standard rules we've set over the years. After working with spreadsheets for many years, five years ago our in-house developers created an internal information system for data entry and management. But because our dataset's complexity has now increased in scale, scope, and complexity, we were seeking technical expertise and creative problem-solving to upgrade our portal to improve the efficiency and quality of our data entry process. We work with ~100 undergraduate students who work as data entry professionals, and while they're all supposed to work with our existing methodology, there are often mistakes made in data entry. This is why having autologic checks, logical consistency checks, and the like have become crucial to maintaining the quality of our dataset and the efficiency of workflows within our team. The Code District team has undertaken a wholesale upgrade of how the front- and backend of our information system operates, leading to significant operational gains.

Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?Code District took an entirely professional approach of assigning two developers, and then giving us access to a senior project manager who was responsible for timely project delivery and helping us translate our non-technical requirements from the user's perspective into technical requirements. This senior project manager was also instrumental in helping us think about the long-term evolution of our information system, and suggseted several improvements that we had not thought about, but in hindsight these will help us save thousands of dollars in the future. The two developers provided for our project were incredibly responsive, flexible, creative, hardworking, and all around nice people to work with and fit right into our organization's rather laid paid but mission driven approach. Beyond the technical requirements of the project, they took time to understand and have been taking keen interest in the big picture of our project. #### WordPress Website & Custom Portal Development for Nonprofit

- Project length: Oct. 2022 - Ongoing

**Project Summary**: Code District has designed and developed the new WordPress website of a nonprofit. The team has integrated the website with the client’s Salesforce instance. They’ve also developed a custom AWS-based portal.

Senior Director of IT, Capital Good Fund

- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Nov 13, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Code District, the client has seen higher website traffic and received great feedback about the site’s ease of use and appearance. The team has done a fantastic job with the website’s frontend and portal functionality. They’ve also been truly attentive and patient throughout the project.
"“The team has taken our jumbled idea and turned it into something that works, and we’re happy about that.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I’m the senior director of IT at Capital Good Fund. We’re a nonprofit that focuses on microfinance, green lending, and financial coaching. Our target market is the underbanked and underserved.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District? We hired Code District because we wanted to build a new website. Our old website was designed in 2013, and it was running on an old version of ExpressionEngine. Parts of it were breaking, so maintaining it became too difficult. We were losing a lot of business and ad opportunities. Unfortunately, we didn’t have an in-house team to take on the challenge of building a new website. As a result, we reached out to Code District.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Code District built our website from scratch, and they handled everything from the discovery phase and design to the development process. During the design phase, designers worked alongside the coders to come up with ideas for the website. They used Figma for designs. Salesforce developers were involved because we wanted to integrate the website into our Salesforce instance. The team used WordPress to build the site because our communications team wanted something they could easily manage without seeking assistance from the IT team. Moreover, we asked Code District to build a client portal where clients could sign up, fill out an application, and keep track of their information. If a client had a loan with us, they should be able to do some self-service tasks for their loan, such as rescheduling payments. Code District used AWS to build this feature and incorporated Google API for addresses. In other words, this was a custom portal. At present, we’re still working with Code District. We’re in the final phases of testing for the portal. Once we’ve finished the user acceptance testing, we’ll implement a few fixes. Then, the project will be completed. What is the team composition? We’ve worked with six teammates from Code District, including Mansoor (Senior Software Engineer). How did you come to work with Code District? We found them through Google. Our team reached out to a few different companies and landed on Code District because we liked their work. Their CEO even stopped by to discuss any fears we had since it was going to be an expensive project — we appreciated this. Moreover, they gave us the option to only commit to the discovery phase to see if we liked what we saw; we could move forward if we were still interested in their work. No other company gave us this option. We liked it because we didn’t have to commit a huge amount of money upfront. How much have you invested with them? Our investment has been around $125,000. What is the status of this engagement? We started the project in October 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We’ve seen an increase in website traffic and received positive feedback from our clients. The website is now easier to use and nicer than our previous one. Overall, Code District has done a fantastic job — we love the frontend of the website, and the portal is working as expected. The team has taken our jumbled idea and turned it into something that works, and we’re happy about that. How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?Their project management is good. Our budget has become slightly larger but only because we’ve had a few change orders. The team has generally met deadlines; the only time we miss a deadline is when somebody in our team switches things around.Mansoor is attentive, and we’ve had a great experience working with him. Even when we have miscommunications, he remains patient and responsive. He always has a plan and allows questions — if there’s a misunderstanding between us, he admits it and takes care of the matter as soon as possible. To communicate, we have a Zoom meeting every week. We schedule another meeting occasionally depending on the project’s status. We’ve also used Jira, emails, and Mattermost. What did you find most impressive about them?Code District's upper management is willing to go out of their way to meet clients and involve themselves in the project to ensure everything’s going well. This truly stands out because it’s not often that a CEO meets their clients to quell their fears and answer their questions. To me, that’s cool and impressive, and it’s one of the reasons we’ve chosen them in the first place. Are there any areas they could improve? When the project manager is unavailable, having someone as a backup to answer questions would be good. To be fair, this isn’t a major issue. Do you have any advice for potential customers?Be specific about your needs. Ensure that everyone understands what the outcomes of the project are supposed to be. Occasionally, people talk and throw things around at once during meetings. It’s better to meet with your own team first and decide on what you need before meeting with Code District. This way, you prevent misunderstandings and avoid taking up too much meeting time trying to figure out your goals.

**The Review** — May 24, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Code District successfully delivered platform features, resulting in a 10% increase in patient and healthcare provider usage. The team always met deadlines and was willing to go above and beyond to satisfy the client’s needs. They were eager to learn new technologies and exceed expectations.
"“Overall, they cared about the UX and the outcomes of their work.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I’m the CTO of Better Healthcare, a digital healthcare company that’s been around for five years. We’re focused on scheduling and data analytics relating to scheduling.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District? We engaged Code District when we had to hire new engineers.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Initially, Code District provided us with 4–5 engineers that worked on our web apps, which included patient- and healthcare provider-facing apps. Apart from that, they helped us architect solutions and make our product better. In terms of the engagement phases, we started with a discovery phase. After that, Code District started working on projects with our guidance. These included bug fixes and minor features. After a month, they started doing full web development tasks. Then, we took a break for a few months and kept only two resources from their team due to budgetary constraints. After that, we continued our partnership with Code District. The biggest feature Code District worked on was related to our new listing site, which was essentially a landing page where patients could browse providers and locations. It was an entirely new website, and we had to build it from the ground up. Code District used the Next.js framework for this site. We also used React.js with TypeScript and GraphQL. On top of that, the team built some fairly complicated features for our patient booking flow. This involved adding custom questions to said flow. Meanwhile, they had to do the opposite for the healthcare provider app and build a UI to add the questions to the flow. Overall, it was quite a complex and major feature. Moreover, their resources contributed to our architectural code design. They scoped projects out in terms of effort level and gave us their technology recommendations. They even wrote epics and stories and took part in sprint planning. We used Zeplin and Figma for these tasks. What is the team composition? We worked with 4–5 people, including the lead engineer who was the manager and a full stack developer. There were two other full stack developers and two QA engineers. How did you come to work with Code District?Code District was recommended to do mobile development work for a subsidiary of our company. One of our engineers was impressed with their work, so they were referred to us. How much have you invested with them?We invested over $100,000. What is the status of this engagement? Our partnership lasted from December 2021–May 2023.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We saw increased patient bookings and healthcare provider usage of our platform, which had more valuable features. The increase was around 10%. Meanwhile, Code District responded promptly to any bugs. They’d tell us what was happening, and we’d take it from there. How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?Code District worked with us. They were embedded in our team and engineers. Moreover, they always hit deadlines. When they didn’t, it was due to a shift in scope or other things that were out of their control. They also stayed on budget. For communication, we used Jira for project management and Slack for communication. On top of that, we did a lot of Zoom video calls. What did you find most impressive about them?I was impressed with the willingness of Code District engineers to go the extra mile. They learned the new technologies we were using. Overall, they cared about the UX and the outcomes of their work. Are there any areas they could improve? They could use stronger management. When we initially engaged them, the manager was great. However, we could tell the management wasn't as good once we reduced the team to 2–3 people. They did well, but things were a bit more ad hoc. Do you have any advice for potential customers?Ensure your project or features are well-defined. This will enable Code District to go in and start working right away. At the same time, they can be a part of your initial design process.

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to Code District's work, the client can now handle files with functional compliance. Using Zoom as their main tool, Code District leads a punctual and responsive process. The client also praises their ability to adapt to their needs and be flexible cost-wise.
"''Code District's agility and ability to respond quickly to our requests are a couple of their biggest strengths.''"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a consultant at a consulting and business services company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenges were you trying to address with Code District?

We needed help with custom software development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Code District has been helping us with custom software integration for a product that can read files, process them, and write them back out. Our team already has the design, so Code District has assisted us in finalizing that design to start building the platform. In terms of tools, they’ve used JavaScript, AWS hosting, and off-the-shelf software for SFTP processing, among other tools for code generation.

Regarding features, the site mainly processes leave of absence requests and integrates our clients’ HRIS and payroll systems into our LOA systems.

What was the team composition?

We’ve started working with four members of Code District’s team for the project’s first phase, but we currently have two people from their staff assigned to us. These members include developers, their legal department, and their sales team.

How did you come to work with Code District?

We found them online and chose them over three other potential companies because they seemed to be the best fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent $18,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2022, and the engagement is still ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform that Code District’s has created for us allows us to handle many client files with functional compliance, which is important because it increases our internal productivity twofold.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

Code District has been excellent in meeting deadlines and staying within budget. We’ve also had weekly calls with them to check on the Scrum process and the project's progress. Moreover, we’ve changed the work’s scope throughout the engagement, and they’ve accommodated my requests within our timeframes. Regarding tools and communication, we use Zoom due to our preference.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Code District's agility and ability to respond quickly to our requests are a couple of their biggest strengths. They’ve also been cost-conscious regarding not making additional charges whenever they make a mistake or want to tackle the project differently. Additionally, Code District is W-9 compliant, which is also important for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Initially, we had trouble getting their payments to them because they didn’t give us the right information, which put a hiccup in the process. Code District’s team could enhance their overall workflow. Other than that, I don’t think they can improve anything on the technical side.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a thorough and clear understanding of what you need so they can provide according to your requirements.

I’m the founder of CoDiary. Our product enables individuals and couples to invite a therapist into their conversation. Users can communicate in a written format, manage conversations about difficult topics, and find resolutions.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We’ve engaged Code District to provide custom software development solutions.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

So far, we’ve worked with Code District on the discovery phase. First, I built the project flow and shared it with the team. After reviewing the flow, they asked questions and helped me refine the solution substantially before progressing to the development phase.

The Code District team is currently designing and developing the product from scratch. The final deliverable will be a scalable, reactive web application that can run on any device.

What is the team composition?

I work with about five people. One teammate manages the sales, quotations, and pricing. We also work with the CEO, head of development, and two other development teammates.

How did you come to work with Code District?

I’m not sure how we initially found Code District, but their president contacted me when he visited the US. He made the trip to my city, and we spent a few hours reviewing the project and discussing his team’s capabilities.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in April 2022, and we’re still working with them.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Code District hasn’t delivered the final product yet, but they’ve made significant progress. In the beginning, I provided a complete project map. After reviewing and asking questions about the map, they made suggestions for the app’s functionality; 95% of which have been extremely valuable.

At this point, the team has met and exceeded our expectations in most sprints. When they haven’t met our expectations, they’ve made up for it in the following sprints.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

Code District has excelled with regard to professionalism, communication, and ability to add value to the product. They communicate thoroughly when we review the work they complete during each sprint. We communicate via email and meet weekly via Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with their level of professionalism and communication.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing they could improve on; I’m happy with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend taking the time to create a project flow upfront. That way, Code District can return to you with a litany of questions and ideas for the product's functionality before commencing development.

The team is also highly receptive to concerns and feedback, and internal stakeholders are particularly impressed with the quality of their deliverables.
""They're expert software engineers that understand how to produce scalable corporate software.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the cofounder of Canonizer.com social media consensus building and tracking system.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

One of 3 teams to help Develop and maintain Canonizer.com and related software.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Flexible (willing to line up with our bottom up, not top down culture, not the reverse). They're expert software engineers that understand how to produce scalable corporate software.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Our current system is referred to as Canonizer 2.0. But it is not scalable, buggy, much of the required functionality is missing, and it is hard to use. Code district helped us completely redesign a 3.0 system from the ground up, which is fully functional and scalable.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Ali Ehsan is the project manager and Architect. he provided the key techniques (using Mongo DB as a cashing system) to scale. After that there are 8 front and and back end engineers, all of who are very experienced and productive.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After less than 1 year we are about ready to launch the completely rebuilt 3.0 system.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

In addition to code district, there are two other contracting companies we work with. The project managers on the other teams are pushy, seeking to make things happen the way they want.

While code district clearly understand the best way to do things, and just makes sure we are going in the correct direction. In other words, code district's style makes it very easy for the 3 teams to work together. Everyone has learned to trust Code districts recdomendations.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are a technically skilled team, and able to work with other teams.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It's not a requirement, but it is always nice when people use, and contribute to the content on Canonizer.com, in addition to just developing and supporting the software.

""I find them to be very responsive and accommodating.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CEO of Etto-4.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We had a new product to launch: a platform that allows users to teach others the pronunciation of their name.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

CodeDistrict did all of the coding and website development for our product. CodeDistrict took our ideas and concepts and created the code, and built the website from scratch. They made sure to include all of our requirements. For this project, CodeDistrict put together all the artwork, color schemes, and fonts. It took several months to refine the design, but eventually, we moved on to development. They integrated Stripe into the platform.

Although the primary development project is done, CodeDistrict provides ongoing maintenance services and will make any major changes we decide to make in the future.

Users can use the software for free for seven days on the site. The platform is very affordable and easy to set up an account on — accounts can register on laptops or mobile phones. Once the account is registered, users can record the pronunciation of their name.

The audio file can be attached to an email signature line and QR code, so it can be attached to other digital and non-digital materials. There is also the option to pay more and get longer audio files that can include messages and the user's pronouns. Those users also get two audio files and two QR codes; base-price users only get one of each. There is also an option to invite users via email, enabling each user to access the other's name pronunciation.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with four teammates, including Ahsan (Account Executive), Usama (Software Engineer), and Nabeel (Software Engineer). Earlier in the project, we also worked with a few other teammates.

How did you come to work with CodeDistrict?

I found CodeDistrict via their email marketing campaign — I got a message about their services in my email inbox. At the time, we didn't need any work, but a few months later, when we developed the product concept, we reached out to them. We were also referred to several other companies by our attorneys but didn't like them very much.

So, I reached out to CodeDistrict, and they signed an NDA so I could provide them with insight into our product. They provided us with several referrals to their local team, and after speaking with them, we decided to move forward with the partnership.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our initial contract with CodeDistrict began in March 2022, but the ongoing relationship is now focused on other services.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The project is complete. We have a live website and source code; we have a patent pending for the new product. I can't say much about the product's success, but all the bugs have been fixed, and we're getting ready to launch the product within a few days. However, everyone in our focus groups has understood the need for our product, so we expect it to be utilized immediately by those with difficult-to-pronounce names.

We believe this tool will have more widespread use in the future — we expect everyone to utilize it, especially on resumes and email subject lines. Hopefully, it will make an HR teammate's work easier because they no longer have to try and guess how to pronounce a candidate's name.

How did CodeDistrict perform from a project management standpoint?

CodeDistrict has met our deadlines. We've exceeded our budget, but that is because our team made changes to the product, which increased the workload. If we'd had a better idea of how everything would be established at the beginning of the project, we might've had fewer changes.

I believe CodeDistrict has used Figma for the design. Their team manages all the code on GitHub. We communicate in various ways, including phone calls and email. We've had weekly Zoom meetings on Friday mornings that included our team and CodeDistrict's team. Their team listened to us and kept our communication channels open.

What did you find most impressive about them?

CodeDistrict's team is very hardworking. There's a 12-hour time difference that we've had to overcome, but CodeDistrict has been very accommodating, scheduling early morning meetings to fit our needs. I find them to be very responsive and accommodating.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I believe there's always room for improvement, but I can't think of anything CodeDistrict could improve. Whenever we have issues, they've always been on top of them. Overall though, everything came out the way we wanted it to.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The most important thing is for you to understand your expectations for CodeDistrict's team. This was our first project started from scratch, and we'll be better prepared next time. It's essential to explain requirements clearly so that fewer changes are required throughout the project.

**The Review** — Jun 1, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The team at Code District was incredibly efficient and responsive. Despite internal ducks, they were able to come up with a quick solution while keeping the project on track. Their expertise, flexibility, and commitment made them a valuable partner.
""They seem to have a great connection internally which reflects in the experience they are able to share.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the IT director at Barrett Values Centre. We offer a suite of tools that help leaders gain deep insight into the cultural dynamics of their organization at every single level. This insight provides a map for leaders to build and sustain a high performing, values-driven culture

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We had a need to quickly onboard a highly skiled team to help modernize our IT solution. As a small to midsize company, it made clear sense to outsource to a company that already had a fully vetted team of professionals. We were fulfilling multiple roles and functions and we needed more expertise in dedicated positions.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We originally found them through a referral. After researching them online via their website and professional reviews I decided to reach out to them. We set up a meeting to talk about our needs and the services they offer. I was blown away by their systematic approach to helping clients like myself to meet their goals. This included the assembly of a complete project team that consisted of a PM, Analyst/Strategist, Designers, Front End Developers, Back End Developers, DBA, and other supporting roles as needed.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

They are helping us streamline and modernize our IT solution. We started with a detailed discovery phase that covered over a decade of product development of our current solution and business processes. Their Analyst/Strategist and UX designer have played a critical role in reviewing our current Architecture and Business Processes and have been a great sounding board for shaping the solution going forward.

We have divided this project into 3 phases and phase 1 has now officially moved into QA and UAT. As we work to find any issues, I've had the opportunity to take phase1 for a test drive and I'm really pleased and excited about the new version. Some of the technologies used are:

React
	NodeJS
	Hussura
	GraphQL
	Postgres
	Salesforce
	Message Broker
	Authentication Provider
	AWS
Steps included a high-level discovery, project team assembly, detailed discovery with wireframes and documentation, a comprehensive roadmap with transparency around every step, development, and finally a staging release of the solution.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were about 10+ people on the vendor's team.

Project Manager
	Business Analyst
	Strategist
	Designers

	Back End Developers

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The deliverables are professional and modern looking which is what we wanted. They also include much-needed improvements to the UX and UI which will hopefully translate into a more scalable system as more of our users take advantage of self-serve.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The project managers were very professional friendly and organized. They set up and organized meetings and were very accessible via slack, Jira, confluence, and email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We had access to the team and they were incredibly efficient. We actually needed to go at a slower pace because we were torn between keeping our day-to-day operations working and getting our own internal documentation prepared. They seem to have a great connection internally which reflects in the experience they are able to share.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There are a couple of things that could have been improved about the project. The thing is internal to our company, we had quite a few knowledge gaps, fuzzy business processes, missing product owner, and overstretched stakeholders. This made our initial phase1 discovery less than ideal. Because it wasn't always clear what decision was made, who truly held the product vision, and who was the final decision-maker.

Fortunately, we were able to course-correct. We took a pause on phase1 development while we got our own internal ducks in a row. Code District was very gracious in delaying some of our original agreed-upon project dates while we sorted ourselves internally and were able to resume discovery and design with a clear structure and vision. It's hard to say what Code District could have done differently in this situation other than recognizing it for what it was.

While we have a software solution, we aren't a software company and many of the people coming to the discovery meeting had never taken part in product development and don't know anything about software development lifecycle, design thinking, and the different methodologies like agile. The great thing about Code District is that they do embrace industry standards in terms of methodology which includes retrospectives, so they are very good at making adjustments to what is working well and what can be improved with each client.

Medical Director/Developer for the Engage with Skills Training Programs

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We engaged Code District to help elevate our use of Salesforce for registration and learning management in 3 separate projects.

Project 1 involved remediation to an existing grading logic.
Project 2 was to create a new grading logic for a new developed training product.
Project 3 was the integration and launch of a Salesforce native application.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had experienced negative outcomes with 2 previous vendors. They were selected based on a recommendation of an IT consultant.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We engaged Code District to help elevate our use of Salesforce for registration and learning management.

Project 1 included making updates and remediating challenges in existing registration flow, grading and data validation logic.
Project 2 involved setting up a Sandbox, creating new grading and registration logic for new training products. This included creating new Salesforce objects, custom fields and ensuring that API connections with the training platform were in place.
Project 3 focused on installing and implementing Blackthorn Events, which is a Salesforce native application. This project included installing two app, Blackthorn Payments and Blackthorn Events, then setting up the Stripe connection with the Payments App and configuring all Salesforce and app settings enabling them to function as desired. For each project, development took place in a Sandbox environment, followed by UAT and then deployment to production followed by a second round of UAT.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with two team members, an Account Executive and a Developer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

All projects were completed successfully. The outcomes we desired were achieved. Updates to existing registration and grading logic corrected errors left by previous vender. The addition of new registration and grading logic, and the implementation of Blackthorn allows us to scale our training operations to meet demand. We now have a system that can collect payment and registration data for individual buyers as well as elevate the registration process for corporate clients. We now have data that we can trust in a system that supports our business use model.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Code District allowed us to use and maintain our internal Project Management methodology and tools. We mainly used email, Zoom and Slack to communicate about project status and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for task management. This worked well with a small team. Even with a huge time difference between our team and theirs. The project team was available throughout our day to respond to requests in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We valued the flexibility and curiosity of the team. They spent a great deal of effort to understand our product and current technology set-up. They were flexible enough to handle change requests and routinely made suggestions to improve the project result.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Since we were working with a small team, we had to modify our timelines and focus on one project at a time. That did not stop Code District from meeting our very aggressive deadlines and their delivering the quality of work we expected.

**Feedback Summary**: Code District successfully automated the training registration process. Despite several unexpected challenges, their team delivered the project on time. The client was impressed with the team's Salesforce knowledge, communication, and timeliness.
""There were several needs that I honestly thought would not be possible, but Code District found a way to solve them.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

MHAMD is Maryland’s only volunteer nonprofit citizens organization bringing together consumers, families, professionals, advocates, and concerned citizens for unified action in all aspects of behavioral health. I am the organization's chief information officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We want to expand a skills training program designed to develop specialized competence to work with specific populations. We were seeking a cost effective way to automate the registration process, allowing staff to focus on program growth and continuous improvement.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Because our goal is to automating this and other process workflows in Salesforce, we were looking for a team of highly skilled Salesforce developers familiar with the kind of challenges that small organizations encounter when moving to automated workflows. Strong customer service skills was also a must for us.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The project involved collaborative work with another vendor that would design the registration and payment within a native Salesforce app. A great deal of logic was required: in response to the registrant's input; notifying the training platform of the registrations; accommodation for registration changes; custom scripts to resolve scheduling challenges beyond the capabilities of the registration app; calculate and transmit participant grading; and automated emailing and API configuration for pushing data back to Salesforce after the training.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I worked most often with our Account Executive Ahsan, and our project lead and Salesforce Engineer Ashfaq

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The project was a total success. Deliverables were on time, every time; in fact we were challenged at times in keeping up with the pace of Code District's work. We we met all deadlines and expectations, within scope, even with several unexpected challenges that Code District handled masterfully.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We typically met 2-3 times weekly, and occasionally more often if necessary. They used Slack to coordinate information. All stakeholders attended meetings, which also helped to keep things progressing smoothly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was very impressed with three areas: Salesforce knowledge, communication and timeliness. This team really knows the inner workings of Salesforce! There were several needs that I honestly thought would not be possible, but Code District found a way to solve them.

As for communication, I wouldn't have asked for better. They listened well, especially with my non-technical team members; and they always explained needed to be done and why.

Finally, these guys work fast. My internal customer had a March completion date that I did not think was possible, but Code District made it happen. I couldn't be happier.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I run the tech team at a product consulting firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We needed a quick turnaround on engineering resources for a UI rework of a client portal.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

A colleague recommended Code District and our goal was finding the best intersection of cost, timing, and quality.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The portal had been previously been built using Angular, on top of a Spring Boot Java microservice backend. We worked with new designs and client representatives to iterate over a number of sprints and bring the new features and designs to life within the existing codebase.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

One web engineer who made updates to the Angular codebase.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to bring the client ambitions to life and expose new functionality to their existing userbase, resulting in an improved impression of the offering and reduced need to seek information outside the portal.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We ran two-week sprints managed by our internal product manager. The engineers from Code District integrated into our processes well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Code District proved to be very flexible in providing the specific resources we needed to flesh out our existing team, and doing so on a tight timeline.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It's always a challenge to work with people in significantly distinct timezones, but the Code District engineer flexed to make sure that overlap was as wide as possible.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the IT Director for a women's apparel manufacturer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We converted our Order Entry system to be a web enabled Order Entry system

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Researched and spoke to many companies looking for someone that was professional and had a lot of knowledge in web programming. Someone we could work closely to to generate our own custom system that worked best with our team.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We have initial meetings to talk about what we need and then we have weekly scrum meetings where we go over what has been developed, and discuss changes till complete and then promoting software from delivery to development where we also do our own testing and then to production. We have installed the software in phases with each phase we promote more system functionality to our sales team.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There is one lead on their side who will bring in a team of people anywhere form 2 to 5 people to discuss the work we need performed. This is done weekly. They have certain people who specialize in different parts of each project or phase. We have 5 people on our side that are defining the scope of what we need completed that meet with Code District.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They have been great to work with and always want to do things the right way. In some case we have had to change our own design and they are really helpful at completing our needs and making sure the integrity of the software is on point. They have been very professional and easy to work with.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We use Trello as a way to organize the details, changes, scope of the project. They usually will give me a timeline for the current phase and then we break down each part on a timeline. All bugs are recorded there and they will give us a timeline on when they will deliver.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Like I said before they want to do things right. If they do something and we tell them it may be better to do it this way, they will change it to what you suggest.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Really if there were ways to improve that we could think of, we would just tell them what we want and they would change to what we want so I would say that there are not a lot of things I can think of on this.

""We feel proud working with them.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Megilla is a B2B SaaS video platform for organizations. I am the founder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Code District, and what were your goals?

We hired CD to build our B2B video platform. Our goals were to finish development with a formidable MVP we can use to engage early corporate clients, then iterate and refine the technology as we learn, scale and grow.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We spoke with a lengthy list of other agencies and were impressed with CD's intelligence, professionalism, talent and affordability. They asked smart questions during the interview process and followed up like professionals. We felt confident and safe with them as our agency of choice.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We were pivoting from a B2C to B2B model and already had a B2C video platform so we hired Code District to build our B2B MVP. We came with designs, a feature set, and use cases to develop around. Before development, we engaged in a discovery process that proved helpful and insightful.

The new platform was full stack (React/Node) and they were strategic in helping us think deeper and more intelligently about our product. We are continuing to engage with CD on a smaller contract basis incorporating bug fixes and augmenting the platform with new features as we scale.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

(2) Sales/Account Managers (4-5) Developers

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

During development, CD provided a clickable prototype for us that we were able to use to procure 15 corporate clients ahead of launch. Pre-selling those clients was incredibly helpful for research and the promise that we were building a product that solves meaningful problems with a viable solution. Like all development, it took longer than expected but CD was a valuable partner in helping us build a solid platform with a formidable future.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We worked closely with their Senior Software Engineer who served as their project manager and point of contact. He was consistently communicative, compassionate about our timeline and company goals, and we always enjoyed our meetings with him as the lead.

He ensured confidence in the process and always took the time to talk out the development process related to our specific platform. There is a significant time difference so that was a factor at times in terms of waiting for emails but that was reasonably expected. We primarily used email and Zoom meetings as our source of communication.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

CD zealously advocates for hiring good people who are a great balance of intelligence talent, hardworking and good humans. We feel proud working with them. Having talent and competency is one thing, but we feel it is important to enjoy the process of collaborating and working together and CD made it easy to enjoy the collaboration process and work together as a team.

CD hires people who make the entire process meaningful and successful. We only wished we lived closer so we could meet them in person and take them to dinner to toast and celebrate a meaningul collaboration.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only small area of possible improvement is documentation. We primarily emailed with the team and that worked well, but sometimes there were points when we wished there was a collectively shared Google Drive with all the information or some easier way of documenting the process and information other than email.

More specifically regarding the technical handover process for documentation, we felt it was something we had to ask for in order to have all the requisite information in one contained location.

**The Review** — Jun 18, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: Code District’s high-quality work has received praise from end users, and they’ve successfully met all the client’s criteria. Their team is focused on development and uses Jira to manage the project internally. They stand out for their ability to engage with customers and bring ideas to the table.
""There’s a significant difference in how they approach development."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of an analytics business focused on commercial real estate. We take large data sets and transform them into usable insights and actionable dashboards for our clients, who are the owners and operators of large real estate assets — for example, shopping malls, bank offices, museums, ballparks, and places where consumers go in general. We help them understand who the consumer is, how frequently they come, how long they stay, where they come from, and how to increase their visitation frequency or spend.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We identified a new use case for our platform and wanted to bring it up in a sprint. Therefore, we wanted to challenge our internal team and Code District to see who could do better in the same time period.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The first deliverable was considered a proof of concept. We provided Code District a large data set, and they built a user frontend that was able to analyze and interrogate a data set following some design principles that we had created. It was a kind of web-based application built on React.

For the application, we understood the hierarchy of the data, how our clients would use that to derive insights, and which insights would be meaningful to them. We wanted the data organized and presented in a way that would allow a user without experience to see intuitively how to interact with the data and get value from it. Meanwhile, we wanted advanced business analysts to be able to interact with the data and go deeper into it without having to write their own code or do their own type of analytics.

What is the team composition?

On the frontend, scope, and timing, we worked initially with Ashar (Founder & CEO). Then, within the Code District team, we’ve worked with a UI designer, two programmers, one QC person, and one project manager.

How did you come to work with Code District?

I get a lot of development solicitations via email, and I received one of those from a lead generation company in the US. They set up the initial call with Ashar. What got my attention was that they guaranteed 20 or 40 hours of development time with 100% satisfaction or I could get my money back.

Then, I looked at the website and saw the type of projects Code District was working on and the type of clients they had, and I felt they were a good match for what we were doing. There are a lot of dev shops with 200–300 people, and with them, we'd be just a project. On the other hand, there are dev shops with 5–10 people, where we wouldn't have the necessary breadth of expertise to pull on. In our case, we were looking for a company with the ability to circle resources in and out so we could build a long-term relationship. For example, we might not need a person full-time, but we might need them for the kickoff phase of a new initiative.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2020. They’ve fully delivered the first and second projects. We’ve just signed up for a third one, so we have an ongoing partnership.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve looked into certain criteria: first, their ability to make schedules. Second, the user acceptance of the product and the fact it met the actualdesign specifications. Third, the architectural flexibility they’ve achieved. Then, I would say the last criteria has been the visual design and usability they’ve developed. It’s excellent, and we’ve received compliments from our users.

Additionally, there are a couple of factors in large data sets that are really important. Time to load and UX are pretty intertwined, and they’ve done a really nice job on both.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

They do quite well. They’re good at managing the project internally and making sure they’re moving forward. If we’d paid a 500-employees dev shop, I would’ve expected lots of project management and not a lot of code. On the contrary, if we’d paid a 5-person company, I would’ve expected lots of code and no project management. Code District fits in the middle. There’s more of an emphasis on the development code than on the project management itself, but it’s a good tradeoff.

Code District uses Jira internally, and we use GitHub in theory. Their interactions with my CTO are largely via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The speed of understanding our business has been really impressive. It’s a collaborative specification process where we’re both understanding what the output is and bringing in ideas to the table. There’s a significant difference in how they approach development.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could do a little better on project management in terms of preparation and presentation management. I think the review meetings could be more structured. They could give the big picture and show where they’re at — if they’re behind or ahead of the timeline.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

First, I would focus on giving them a detailed overview of the business objective so they understand the context that they’re developing within. I think that gets the best out of them because then they’re able to come up with ideas and suggestions, as opposed to thinking they need detailed functional specifications. In other words, you don’t have to tell them how the menu sequence needs to look or function, you just need to tell them who the user is, what level is their skill set, and what you’re thinking about the project. That’s a good way to engage them and let them take it out all the way down to ground level.

Then, if you’re anticipating to hire Code District for more than one project — which is often the case — I would recommend you sketch them a vision of the future. Giving them an idea of where you’re going as a business also gives them the greatest opportunity to support you in getting there.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO of Bottom Line Concepts, a contingency-based, cost-savings company. We save money for Fortune 500 companies and sports teams.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We were building a portal that would allow clients to see their accounts, transactions, and historical and real-time data.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Code District created our portal’s software from scratch. The software is client- and company-facing.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 7–8 people in total, including the CTO and Ashar (Founder & CEO).

How did you come to work with Code District?

Code District sent us a cold email, and we interviewed them. They were very courteous and professional. They also took in all of the information regarding what we needed and gave us exactly what we wanted in the demo.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was from December 2020–February 2021. They originally said it would take them three months, but it only took them two.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The software is very high quality. They completed the project under budget, which is miraculous for a software development company. As I said, they also finished sooner than the quoted deadline.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

Code District handled project management very professionally. They communicated clearly throughout. If we shared an issue or concern, they fixed it right away and didn’t have to revisit it a second time. That was very impressive.

We had weekly meetings via Zoom, during which they provided updates. If we had any questions between those meetings, they responded right away, within the same day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Since they cold called us and we’d never heard of them, I wasn’t expecting such high-quality work. They followed through on every single thing that they said they would.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think their service can be improved.

Any advice for potential customers?

Give them a chance — they’ll definitely prove themselves accordingly.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of technology for a life sciences and clinical research organization. We build software apps for clinical research effrorts.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We hired them for infrastructure development projects.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They were responsible for website builds, general app development, UI/UX projects, and AWS tasks. We used AWS, React, Swift, MongoDB, Angular, and Node.js. The mobile apps were created for iOS users.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with several project managers. At one point, we had a team of about 17 developers and project managers.

How did you come to work with Code District?

My co-worker found them and made the decision to bring them onto the project.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $140,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since April 2020.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

On one of our recent projects, they went out of their way to conduct a methodical discovery process with a project lead and designer. They focused their attention on mockups and design specifications. That really helped the project go smoothly, especially when we got to the development portion of the build. They ran the project well.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re happy with the detail-oriented project manager that we were assigned. He’s paid attention to the fine details, which has made the effort much easier. We communicate through standup meetings, email, and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Because they have a wide variety of resources, they were able to scale up or down depending on the ebb and flow of our project. We appreciated that flexibility.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve on communicating with us about when certain resources were coming and going from projects. Sometimes it would be difficult to determine who would be working on a project for how long. Other than that, the engagement has been great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Interface with them regularly, and stay on top of the project on your end as well.

Digital Platform Manager, Advantage Controls
- Industry: Utilities

- Client size: 11-50 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Aug 19, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: The product has seen significantly boosted performance since the beginning of Code District’s involvement in the project, reducing click-to-purchase from 15 to 4 clicks and bringing overall CPU load from 70% to 25%. Their team is communicative and flexible to the customer's needs at all times.
"“They epitomize thoroughness and critical thinking in everything that they do.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the owner and president of Lims Analytics Group. We are a niche software company for the water treatment industry. I work for another company called Advantage Controls, and they sell my product and serve as a distributor to plants.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

The solution was originally built using relatively old technologies because I didn’t have official training in the latest principles of computer science. As we’ve gone along, our program has grown exponentially, and we discovered that the foundation we built upon just wasn’t able to support the overhead that it required.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our product is a reporting tool, so we provide a mobile application and an accompanying website to capture, collate, and visualize data to do with water treatment. They helped us to implement Kubernetes, Docker databases, Interloops, and other technologies that gave us the ability to scale up or down in capability without having to use a significant amount of people or resources.

Their team worked closely with us throughout the process to make sure what we implemented was going to be the best solution for us and our customers in the long-term. The final solution included ASP, C#, Java, some HTML, and integrations with the cloud.

What is the team composition?

They have one member of their business team checking in a couple times a week to make sure I’m happy and getting what we need out of the process. Beyond that, I talk to the rest of the team of about six developers almost every day.

How did you come to work with Code District?

We reached out to around 15 different companies in order to try to find the best fit, and Code District had a level of approachability that really impressed us right from the start. They sat down and had a conversation with me to just get to know me and let me get to know them, and I decided to move forward with their team from there.

How much have you invested with them?

Our original cost estimate that we came up with was $96,000, and we expect to overshoot that by about 10% but have had no issues there whatsoever. We’ve paid about $50,000–$60,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the spec in October 2019, launched the code development in January 2020, and are continuing to work with them.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Code District spent the first three months of the project just helping us to get the scope right, which was amazing. A lot of the things we took for granted or figured we could deal with later turned out to be relatively important to establish from the outset, and so as they worked through the plan for the project they let us know exactly what we needed to decide ahead of time.

They pointed us toward suggestions that would make the system even better than we ever could have. Whether it was a code base more suited for the environment we were developing in or just a cosmetic suggestion, it was clear that they had come to know the solution even better than we did.

For example, on our original iteration, our average click to product was about 15. A person had to click 15 times across different variables on different parts of the system before they could actually make a purchase. Their team was able to reduce that to four clicks, and at the same time reduce the size of our code so much that we reduced average load on our CPU from about 70% to 25%, which I think is an absolute testament to their eye for redundancy and ability to maximize efficiency in their work.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

Any time I raise a question or concern, I get a response the same day, or at the very worst, a message letting me know that they’ll start with it first thing the next day. Their ability to communicate is one of the real highlights of the partnership with them.

Their lead developer contacts me every day to tell me what they’re working on and what they’ve accomplished, and he brings up any questions or concerns that he has so that we can talk through them as efficiently as possible. We also communicate about everything on our team Slack, and that always gets

What did you find most impressive about them?

Sometimes the hardest part of working with a developer is just getting them to sit down and listen to what you’re saying, but with Code District, that was never a problem. We were at this effort for almost 10 years before meeting them, and we worked with numerous development companies in that time, and I wouldn’t recommend a single one of them.

Code District, by comparison, is absolutely on their game. They epitomize thoroughness and critical thinking in everything that they do, from questions about why you want to build things a certain way to best practices that they bring to my attention because they know it will make the final product that much better.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about them, which is extremely unusual for me. They’ve been honest, straightforward, and responsive.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take your time. Failing to plan is planning to fail, so the instant you rush into a development project thinking you’ll figure it out as you go, you’ve already lost. Even the best development agency can’t save you from that.

Code District has designed their business model to help you think so that you can lay out what you’re choosing to do, why you’re choosing it, and what other options there might be before you move forward on anything. That level of forethought has been the most valuable part of working with them by far.

**The Review** — Aug 14, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: Progressing steadily through the RFP — and other requirements that have arisen — Code District prioritizes timelines and budgets. They’re aided in this process by their thorough planning protocols. Customers can expect a partner that adapts to changes quickly and has a wide network to leverage.
""They’re very nimble and seem to have a very good network of people they can draw from."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP and COO of Limbik. We’re a content data science company. I head up the development teams here.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We were taking a service-based business and turning it into a SaaS business. They helped us develop a platform that could be a self-serve service.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We use data science to help marketing firms position their content, in particular for social media marketing. We use predictive analytics to do this, which drive the best interactions and best results. The application Code District helped us create allows us to do all that, and it helps our clients create ideas that will be successful in the media sphere. We’re using AWS software, Lambda, GitHub, and other technologies.

They mainly did our frontend design work but they also helped on the backend. We have an internal development team, who they work in tandem with.

What is the team composition?

We worked with upwards of nine people. Everyone from frontend developers to backend developers to full-stack resources. We had a UX/UI design team of team people, as well as two auditors. They provided a team lead and an oversight resource too.

How did you come to work with Code District?

They approached our CEO about six months before I started with the company. We put them through an RFP process with a number of other development shops and they won the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since March 2020. This project is going to wrap up in the next month and we’re planning on retaining them for further services.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our first success metric is that they’re 100% on time. The RFP outlined the scope of work and pricing and they’ve been 100% on budget as well. They’ve delivered really good work.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been exemplary and are great at listening. This has been a bit of an interesting project in that we’ve been the project managers but they’ve managed their side of the project; it’s almost been duel project management.

We use Slack, Confluence, Jira – all the Atlassian products to manage projects. This helps us watch their progress. They have a tight system and, between us, we have a good communication strategy. The project is being done in an agile environment with daily scrum sessions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very agile. During this process, we’d forgotten some stuff in our RFP and we had to have them pivot their work. They had the bodies in place to do this within one week. They’re very nimble and seem to have a very good network of people they can draw from.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wouldn’t criticize their work at all. Sometimes our communication has issues but those are on our side as well as theirs. They’ve been a pleasure to work with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Listen to them, especially during the planning phase. I’m in a company where our executives are more sales-driven so they don’t always understand what goes into development, which means they want things faster. Code District pushes for a thorough planning process, however, that pays dividends in the end. You’ll stay on budget and you’ll stay on time.

**Feedback Summary**: Showing dedication to the development and making corrections as needed, the team delivered a product that was easily implemented into the third-party client’s workflow. Through efficient project management through collaboration platforms, they adhered to all given requirements.
"“The developers take pride in their work.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

One of my businesses is a consulting company that does niche web and mobile apps for our clients. I’m a founder and partner there.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

They augmented our dev staff to help us serve our customers.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our customer needed a brand new web app done in the .NET framework. In-house, we focus primarily on Ruby on Rails development, so we brought them on to handle this task. The final platform that they built was a proposal software intended for our client to use in-house.

What is the team composition?

I had a project manager, two developers, a designer, and a UX expert.

How did you come to work with Code District?

Based on our previous engagement, I thought they’d be able to manage the tech requirements and be a good fit for the work. So, I sent them an email asking if they had developers that met our customer’s requirements. They did, so we brought them on.

What is the status of this engagement?

The work began in May 2019 and ended in January 2020.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

At this point, the product is past testing. Our team is now collaborating with the client’s in-house team to support the app and clean up any bugs. They’re actively using the solution and are satisfied with it. Based on that, I’d say the project was successful. They implemented all the requirements and handled the vast majority of the coding work.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

They were pretty good at communication. We worked most closely with the project manager. Sometimes, it would’ve been nice to have more direct contact with the developers. We started doing this toward the end of the engagement, and I noticed that communication got much better between our teams. We used Jira for this project because that’s what they used. Our team normally uses Slack and Trello.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their commitment to the project and willingness to put in the time to correct bugs stood out. The developers take pride in their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They do well when the requirements are clear and defined upfront. With this project, the client changed their mind frequently, and their process wasn’t always equipped to handle that. Otherwise, the quality of their work is great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Sometimes, we got bogged down on the project management end. I will hire them for other projects, so this learning experience was important.

"“They were always able to decipher what we wanted, even when our instructions were vague.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the co-founder of a software platform for the fire protection industry.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We wanted to roll out a new feature for our platform, but didn’t have the time to focus on both the development and our day-to-day operations.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Code District developed our service software on Ruby on Rails. The software makes inspections, testing, and maintenance easier for the fire protection industry. Their team used an API to create a database for our team.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two developers from Code District, both of whom were involved in discussions with our team.

How did you come to work with Code District?

A friend of mine has a startup and recommended Code District to us. He passed along one of the directors, so I reached out to them.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $4,300 a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Code District from January–April 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Overall, we are very happy with Code District’s work. Their team lead ran an internal code review that went well. We plan to use them again in the future.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated primarily through Trello. Despite the time difference, their team is very responsive. We heard feedback from them every day about what they were working on.

If they were ever stuck on anything or needed more direction, they would reach out to us, and then we would set up a Zoom meeting. They quickly addressed any bugs that came up throughout the process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were always able to decipher what we wanted, even when our instructions were vague. Code District could give us as many mockups or as much detail as we wanted with the little information we gave them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have a very good operation, and I have nothing negative to say about Code District.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Since there is a language barrier, it’s important to be as detailed as possible with them. It’s better to give them the information instead of leaving it open for interpretation. Unfortunately, our team was very busy when we first brought them on so it was difficult for us to write up exactly what we wanted. When we did, we got better results.

"“They’re hardworking and deliver quality services, so we plan to continue working with them.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a technology-driven title insurer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

We were looking to build the first version of our platform. The work had to be done quickly and affordably without sacrificing the product’s quality.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

First, we provided Code District with screens and workflows for the project. From there, they designed all the database structures and the frontend, developing the entire application by the end of the project.

The completed app will allow for more transparency and visibility in the home closing process. It will use a task management system, a status tracker, contacts, and calendars to make managing a closing a much easier.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is Asher (CEO, Code District), but we work with an additional 2–3 of their team members.

How did you come to work with Code District?

Our company was putting out a few bids for other projects when we came across Code District. We were impressed with their experience in the real estate sector, so we spoke to them and seven other development companies. They delivered a very clear, professional spec, so we decided to go with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working on the project since February 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We completed the project on time and according to our budget. They’re hardworking and deliver quality services, so we plan to continue working with them.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve stuck to a pretty strict schedule, but they always let us know about upcoming holidays. When changes need to be made to the app, they communicate to us clearly. It’s made our relationship work well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were much more organized than I initially expected.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been great to have a little more attention to detail from them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure the designs and workflows are in place, and then they’ll provide good advice from there.

"“Code District was able to focus on the project and deliver what our own team wasn’t able to do.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a SaaS product that provides ERP for project-based companies.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?
Our first project was to write a plug-in for Outlook. We wanted a panel that would surface information about our platform directly in Outlook. We also needed Code District to rewrite our mobile app, so it worked for both iOS and Android.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
We wrote the functionality for the API to surface the information in Outlook, and Code District figured out how to get it to appear in the program. The panel provides access to our app, letting the user interact with our data, functionality, and tools. They finished the Outlook plug-in and are currently working on the app.
For the app, we did the concept design and requirements, and Code District turned it into a functioning app. It connects with our API to pass information back and forth. They built different versions for both iOS and Android, and they also do QA.
What is the team composition?
We have a project manager, four developers, some React specialists, and a QA analyst.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $35,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We partnered in July 2018, and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our internal development had been meaning to work on the mobile app, but it kept getting delayed because of day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. Code District was able to focus on the project and deliver what our own team wasn’t able to do.
How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?
We hadn’t worked with an external team before, but the partnership’s been great. We have a great relationship, communicating and collaborating well together. They adapt to our change requests, and we hold weekly meetings to review progress. We communicate via Slack and use Jira to manage the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re always positive, even if we have a big problem or concern. They integrate well with our team, so we’ll continue to work with them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The code branches got a bit complex, so we’re working on making them more simplified for the next project. It’ll make it easier to test things more quickly.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Consider Code District to be part of your team and have them communicate directly with your internal staff.

**The Review** — Oct 31, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Code District communicates well and strikes a good balance between project length and quality. Their platform has significantly reduced the time it takes to perform administrative functions, and it hasn’t had any major issues. The team could provide more documentation, but they still do great work.
"“They care about our product, suggesting improvements instead of just finishing the job as quickly as possible.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO and co-founder of a business that’s building a network of preventative cardiology practices and software to support them.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?
We initially needed help developing prototypes for the software that supports our internal operations and patient-facing marketing side. The project evolved into production-level work for live patient development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Code District works on a fairly comprehensive project. They’ve taken on everything from server management deployment to frontend web dev and backend service creation. They also integrated the platform with our APIs. We have some legacy code that they’ve also improved, too. We provided the design, workflows, and general idea, and they executed on what we outlined. The software includes numerous features, such as a risk assessment function, patient dashboard, HIPPA compliance messaging, and case and task management systems. They use Ruby on Rails, React.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud for hosting.
What is the team composition?
We work with two developers and a technical architect.
How did you come to work with Code District?
We interviewed about 20 firms. Code District offered a free trail for 40 hours of work, and their code was great, so I hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $50,000–$200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We partnered in April 2018, and the work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The platform reduces the amount of time it takes our admin staff to enter patient information. Before, it took around 30 minutes, but now it only takes about two. We haven’t had any downtime or major issues with the product, and Code District quickly resolves any small problems.
How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?
At first, communication was difficult because it all went through the project manager who was a bit removed from the process. But as time’s gone on, we interact directly with the developers now, which has made things much better. We use Zoom for video meetings and Slack to track progress.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They did a large amount of work in a short period of time and are extremely professional. They care about our product, suggesting improvements instead of just finishing the job as quickly as possible.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Swapping resources should take less time, and they should provide more documentation to facilitate smoother transitions.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Interview the engineers you’ll be working with and take advantage of any trial period they offer. Negotiate a good price, too.

**Feedback Summary**: As a result of Code District’s high-quality code, almost $500,000 in revenue was generated within two and a half months. They will likely be contracted for future projects because their team is not only extremely dedicated but also highly educated in their field, resulting in optimized solutions.
""Code District behaved in a manner which elevated my expectations on how a development company should perform."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and majority owner of an enterprise feedback management firm. We primarily assist large companies in collecting feedback from their customers, employees, and partners.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Code District?

I was looking to create an enterprise feedback management application system that, unlike other survey software on the market, allowed companies to create surveys without coding knowledge. I also wanted a system that would store collected data so those being surveyed wouldn’t have to answer the same questions more than once.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Code District’s team came to my office to speak with me and other executives to assess exactly what my team wanted. After the assessment, they gave us a functional specification document along with an API that detailed my team’s expectations and the ideas they built around them.

They then developed a survey software on a .NET framework with a rich text editor that allowed companies to build a survey without coding. The system also had brand logic, meaning if a surveyee identified themselves as male, they wouldn’t be asked whether they’re pregnant.

Code District also built an email system that allowed me to send out automated reminders. For example, if a survey goes out 100,000 people and 50,000 of those people don’t respond within two weeks, an automatic email reminder will be sent out to those people. The email system will also automatically notify my company’s project or case managers if a surveyee gives a low rating for a particular question, so we’re able to reach out to that person and address the issue.

Along with the survey software, Code District also built us an Android and iOS mobile app on native software.

What is the team composition?

We worked primarily with Ashar Samdani [CEO and Founder, Code District], as well as a project manager. We also worked with five developers.

How did you come to work with Code District?

While visiting Pakistan, I attended an entrepreneurial conference that Ashar was chairing as well as speaking at. Someone there introduced us, and we began discussing our work. I spoke with some of his other clients and met with a few when I came back to the U.S. They all raved about him, so I decided to partner with him out of the seven other companies I interviewed for the project.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested close to $150,000 with them. I anticipate investing an additional $250,000 in the next 12 to 18 months with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in February 2016 and finished up our work in November 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In about two and a half months, we’ve generated almost $500,000 in business revenue based on the features they developed.

Before pushing the software live, we had two separate firms verify that the code is reusable for different development team should I decide to bring the technology in-house. Those firms concluded that a recent college graduate could look at the coding and the notes Code District left as they were writing it, and reuse it fairly easily.

How did Code District perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m very happy with their work from a project management standpoint. We did the project in bi-weekly sprints. I received a weekly and monthly call updating me on their progress. I also met with Ashar face-to-face to discuss the project’s progress every quarter.

They used Jira to keep track of their progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their staff is extremely impressive. Not only are they highly educated in their field, but they have great interpersonal skills. Despite his high position in the company, Ashar was on each and every single phone call I was on. His dedication to my project reflected on his team, who worked tirelessly to produce high-quality deliverables. I’ve done approximately 12 development projects in the past, and Code District’s team has done the best work for me. I’ll continue using them for that reason.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No; out of the other companies I’ve partnered with in the past, Code District behaved in a manner which elevated my expectations on how a development company should perform.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

One of the reasons I think my project with Code District was so successful is because I invited them to discuss my business challenge and listen to my vision for a solution before development. They created a working prototype that I could agree on before taking the project through development. I would suggest any company looking to do development work assess and document their requirements and expectations before starting building anything out.

### Web-Based Refund Automation for Caribbean Airlines

About Client
Caribbean Airlines is a leading carrier in the Caribbean region, serving thousands of passengers daily across international and regional routes. With over 1,500 employees and an annual revenue of US$444.6 million, the airline is committed to enhancing customer service and operational efficiency.
Challenges

Slow refund process prone to errors due to manual handling of tasks.
Zero visibility into refund status and the absence of self-service tracking.
Longer response times and poor customer service quality.

Solution
To address these challenges, we developed a custom, web-based refund automation platform designed to increase efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and integrate seamlessly with existing airline systems. The solution focused on four key areas:

Digital Refund Request Portal

We replaced the manual, paper-based system with an intuitive, self-service web portal, allowing passengers to submit refund requests online and track them with the necessary documentation.

Automated Claim Verification & Processing

We integrated an automated claim verification system that validates refund requests against airline policies and eligibility criteria.

Integration with Airline Systems

We integrated the refund management system with Caribbean Airlines' existing reservation and ticketing system to automatically retrieve passenger booking details and make sure only eligible refund requests are processed.

Enhanced Customer Support & Communication

We introduced integrated communication features within the refund portal. Passengers could now track their refund status in real-time and interact with support agents via live chat.

### Delivered a Mobile App for TimCast’s Video Content

About Client
Timcast Media is a leading digital media company specializing in podcasts, live streaming, and news coverage on cultural and political topics.
Challenges
TimCast Media lacked a dedicated mobile platform, making it difficult for users to access content conveniently and interact with exclusive member features.

Fragmented Content Consumption

Users had to rely on web browsers to read articles and watch videos, leading to an inconsistent experience across devices.

Poor Video Playback Experience

The absence of a dedicated video player limited users' ability to watch embedded content smoothly, especially from platforms like YouTube and Rumble.

Inefficient Access to Exclusive Content

TimCast offers member-only content, but without a secure, seamless login system, users faced accessibility issues, leading to frustration and lower retention rates.
Solution

### Neurological Assessments with AI Clinical Platform

About Client
Valis Bioscience is a scientist-led, health-tech company focused on enhancing the measurement and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders through technology-driven, patient-centric solutions.
Challenges
Valis Bioscience’s reliance on manual, Excel-based processes for neurological patient assessment methods resulted in several inefficiencies:

Time-Consuming & Error-Prone Processes

Therapists and researchers had to administer and document assessments manually, leading to errors, inefficiencies, and difficulties in managing patient records.

Limited Flexibility for On-Premise and Remote Assessments

There was no digital infrastructure to conduct both virtual surveys in on-premise and remote settings. This limitation restricted data collection methods.

Disorganized Patient Data

Patient data, assessment forms, and therapist analyses were scattered across multiple platforms, lacking a centralized repository.
Solution
The solution consists of three key components:

Video-Based Therapy and Clinical Assessment System

We developed ACAM, a secure platform for recording, storing, and managing therapy sessions. Assessments are categorized based on symptoms, treatment phases, and behavioral patterns.

Electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment

To improve diagnostic accuracy and streamline evaluations, we built eCOA, a structured digital assessment platform. The system offers customizable digital assessment forms, tailored to specific neurological conditions.

Web-Based Portal for ACAM & eCOA Management

A centralized web-based portal was developed to integrate ACAM and eCOA, providing real-time access to patient records, therapy session data, and progress reports.
Results

400+ assessments successfully conducted
1,000+ hours of therapy sessions recorded and securely stored
25% reduction in administrative workload

### AI-Powered Regulatory Assistance for Pharmasift

About Client
Pharmasift, a leader in pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, simplifies access to Office of Prescription Drug Promotion (OPDP) enforcement action letters, CFR guidelines, and regulatory documents.
Challenges

Manual Review Delays

Reviewing pharmaceutical promotional materials against regulatory guidelines often took weeks, slowing down approval cycles and increasing operational overhead.

Inefficient Research Process

Compliance teams had to manually search through large databases to find relevant CFR guidelines and enforcement letters, making it difficult to extract the right information quickly.

Scalability Issues

As regulations evolved and the volume of enforcement letters increased, Pharmasift struggled to efficiently analyze compliance risks and deliver timely insights to its users.
Solution
To solve these challenges, we developed two AI-powered tools: Pharmasift Insights for automated compliance review and Pharmasift Chat for instant regulatory search. These solutions leveraged Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and hybrid search models.

Automated Document Analysis

The system reviews promotional materials based on CFR guidelines and enforcement history, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

AI-Driven Feedback & References

It provides detailed feedback on non-compliant content and references past enforcement actions to guide compliance improvements.

Streamlined Analyst Workflow

Instead of manually reviewing every document, analysts can quickly validate AI-generated feedback, reducing the time spent on each review.
Results

80% reduction in document review time, cutting compliance analysis from 2 weeks to 5 minutes.
90% faster regulatory search, delivering relevant results in under 3 seconds.
70% improvement in accuracy.
60% increase in analyst productivity.
