I'm the Director of Software Development at VizExplorer. We develop a range of Business Intelligence and data visualization tools for the Casino Industry. Our mobile, web, and Desktop tools range from Spatial analysis to Slot-Performance analysis including History and Predictive Analysis.

For what projects/services did your company hire Azon5?

We hired Azon5 for software development projects using JavaScript, Actionscript3, Flex + AIR. They helped us develop new features, maintain legacy products and fast track important incoming bugs from active customers.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal of this project was to maintain the legacy product, improve stability and refactor code and quickly fix issues that arose in the field from active customers or training staff.

How did you select this vendor?

We've tried different vendors before that were simply not up to the task. Finding Yuriy and his amazing team at Azon5 showed us within days that they are the right team for the job so we quickly made the switch and we have not regretted it once.

They joined our daily standup meeting to provide progress on development work. Their responsibilities were to primarily fix bugs that arose in the field for any of our legacy products. Additionally, they were tasked with refactoring some of the codebases to improve stability and test-ability. They were knowledgeable in all areas - Desktop Development, Mobile Development, and Web-Development for our Flex Application.

What was the team composition?

We had and in-house team that needed additional support which we hired Azon5 for. They provided 2 highly-qualified and skilled team members working during all hours of the day. They participated in meetings, suggested improvements, designed software solutions, and implemented those solutions.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Without the Azon5 team we would not be where we are today! They were absolutely essential in taking care of any incoming issues from active customers and turning them around quickly. They fixed our mobile application and migrated it to 64-bit. They fixed hundreds, if not thousands of bugs for our Flex-Web Application. They were fundamental in migrating this app to AIR so that it can run on the desktop. Their technical knowledge is simply outstanding. The turn-around time was faster than what any manager could ask for.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We had daily standup meetings where the team reported on progress. We had weekly planning sessions in which tasks were assigned. This way of working was extremely effective. The Azon5 team worked during all hours of the day and despite the timezone difference there were no issues like idle time. The team was always available and always on top of their current work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their technical knowledge and work ethics are outstanding! They have done so much work, from mobile to web to desktop using all sorts of technologies. Their dedication to the job and the individual tasks was something I have not seen often as a manager. This includes time-tracking, coding standards, JIRA usage. It was a pure pleasure to work with the team. Also, their English is fantastic. No communication challenges at all.

Are there any areas for improvement?

From a software developer standpoint or management standpoint, I cannot think of any area of improvement. These guys are outstanding and we will definitely work with them in the future.

We created platform for our lead generation management and improved the results in this lead generation source. It also allowed us to better manage our current human resources.

We used telegram and slack, all team members were always online. Team use scrum methodology, it's the best way to manage projects for us.

Price/quality. They were very responsive.

I think the team knows in which direction to move and where they need to grow
