We met with several agencies and reviewed the growth and marketing strategies they proposed. We considered the overview AppAgent presented to be clear and pragmatic, and after shortlisting them we reached out to their previous clients for insights into the quality of work they delivered. We decided to move forward with AppAgent based on their competitive pricing, testimonies of former clients, and the straightforward plan they presented.

AppAgent presented an overarching growth plan with multiple streams of work to progress. A key part of that plan was work on an LTV model which would underpin our assessment of campaign performance and inform long term investment. Once this model was in place, we began testing new channels, regions, and creatives to identify where we could successfully find scale.

We work with Roberto as our key point of contact and account manager. We have also worked with Martin on the development of our LTV model, David who provides granular campaign management insights, and Tatiana who works on creative and UGC content.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Revenue for our flagship title has improved threefold since the beginning of our cooperation with AppAgent. Importantly, the percentage of revenue driven by User Acquisition has increased markedly, and the regions from which we generate UA revenue have become more diverse. AppAgent has been critical in providing the capacity for us to explore and expand our UA efforts.

We have always had a clear and straightforward workflow with plenty of communication. Typically it's AppAgent who are chasing us to progress agreed milestones, which is exactly what we want from the relationship.

They solve our creative needs in terms of digital advertising on large platforms, including Facebook and Google, and networks, Unity.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
There were multiple steps to our engagement. First, they developed our initial creative for the App Store, which include screenshots, app icons, preview videos, and more. They also created 30-second videos that contained content from our game assets. These videos didn’t require them to create any new visuals, but to utilize the footage already made by our artists. 95% of their work went out on Facebook and Google.
What is the team composition?
I don’t recall anyone’s exact positions, but we interfaced directly with three people. Since the engagement ended, we’ve only been in contact with their creative director.
How did you come to work with AppAgent?
They were recommended by an industry friend.
How much have you invested with them?
The total cost was around $50,000.

We worked together from January 2021–April 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We track two measurements: click-through rate on the app itself and our return on ad spend on an individual creative basis. The click-through rate is our direct performance indicator, and depending on which piece of creative drove the best ROAS, we’d order more variations on that particular piece.
I don’t have exact numbers in my head but their ads performed competitively compared to our competitors’ ads in the market. AppAgent’s creative was very high quality.
How did AppAgent perform from a project management standpoint?
There were some small issues in the beginning, but we resolved them fairly quickly. AppAgent went on to deliver on cadence. We focused on ensuring high quality rather than delivering lots of pieces quickly. We also held catch-up calls whenever necessary.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What stood out to us the most was how they were able to handle the creative without needing too much input from me, which is what I wanted. My goal was to find a vendor that would be independent in their process and then deliver me the final creative for approval, without requiring a lot, or any, changes. They upheld this goal in a nice manner.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’re focused on being a mobile game creative agency, but during the exploration and briefing phase, they asked a lot of questions that weren’t related to the mobile game process. This was surprising to me, as the mobile game process is very streamlined; there isn’t much room for interpretation. Some of this work felt unnecessary to me.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Future clients need to leave room for a six-month period in these engagements. They work independently and can be successful on their own, but it definitely requires two partners to make the most out of this relationship.

What was the scope of their involvement?
AppAgent produces ad creatives for us with a focus on UA. First, we met with AppAgent and showed them our past work and what had worked so far. We went back and forth with ideas and gave them feedback based on our priorities. The videos are mostly in 2D with available assets. However, parts of the videos are in 3D, and on rare occasions, they use live-action recordings of actors for specific scenes.
For the videos, we provide a few different tools and assets, including a version of our game that they can access and play on a PC. We also provide some art assets and record some gameplay. The AppAgent team also records gameplay themselves. There have been cases where other custom assets are needed — such as 3D models, music, or sound effects we don’t have — and they handle those.

I have one main point of contact, and I’ve also worked with someone who helps with research and strategy. At the very beginning, I talked to their business manager.
How did you come to work with AppAgent?
They were a referral through other companies I’ve worked with. Hearing from the grapevines, I knew AppAgent had a good reputation for a high level of quality. I reached out to them, and we got up and running.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $50,000–$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around October 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
AppAgent’s work has received good feedback internally. We use the videos for UA; we’ve used them for ads on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok and on some sites that support in-game advertisements. Although it took a while to get some of the 3D models right, everyone has been happy with the results.
How did AppAgent perform from a project management standpoint?
Initially, their project management was acceptable. In more recent projects, the team has shown incremental improvements as we better understand what works in terms of concepts and themes. We mostly communicate via Slack or email, and we have a PowerPoint presentation that they update periodically.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a certain level of marketing experience. Not all creative agencies have that expertise; they just make videos or assets. Meanwhile, AppAgent has a keen insight into running campaigns and advertising strategies. Although they aren’t providing those services, their knowledge of what works translates into their ideas and the final product.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could be a little more proactive in suggesting strategy changes. We had instances when certain strategies took time and effort but did not produce many results. The team could also provide more radical ideas within our framework.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to lean into AppAgent’s expertise and creativity. They have a lot of experience working with many clients and seeing what works in the advertising environment. Beforehand, come with some basic assumptions of one’s product but leverage App Agents expertise to challenge, test and push that. Especially since App Agent has a UA team inhouse, they should have industry wide experience to tap into both for new ideas but also for actual UA should the need arises.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director and co-owner of a small company in Slovenia. Our main business focus is the development of a fishing app.

What challenge were you trying to address with AppAgent?
We needed help with marketing and advertising to get a better digital presence.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
AppAgent has created various ads for us, both using still images and videos. They’ve purchased the photographs needed online, and they’ve been in charge of the whole process involved in developing the ideas to create the ads.
We’ve had several calls to discuss what we like and don’t like, as well as to come up with different ideas of directions that we can take. They’ve really listened to our feedback and what we want, and the end result has turned out to be what we expected. The ads that they’ve created have been used for Facebook and Google, and they’ve been targeted to people in the US and the EU, the markets that we focus on.
After posting the ads, AppAgent does various optimizations to reach our goals and audiences. We test different videos and pictures to see which ones work the best. Then, we gradually increase the budget for the campaign once we feel comfortable with the results. These campaigns aren’t based on keywords but rather on target audiences according to the users' interests.
What is the team composition?
I’ve been in contact with three people from AppAgent, but there are more people in the background working on our project. Our main point of contact is their account manager, and we also talk with someone responsible for analytics.
How did you come to work with AppAgent?
We did some research online and had calls with several agencies. Many of those agencies were specialized in games, which wasn’t what we were looking for. We had a call with AppAgent and we really liked their approach and energy.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our marketing budget has increased two times since AppAgent came on board. We’ve felt more comfortable with increasing the budget since we know what they’re doing and see how it reflects in our conversion.
We initially thought that we would only spend such a high budget during the fishing season, which is now ending. However, since our ads are still performing very well, we’ve decided to continue working with AppAgent while investing a budget higher than we anticipated.
When advertising on Facebook, the platform gives the option to focus the ads on getting more likes or comments from users. In the last few iterations we’ve had regarding Facebook Ads, we’ve achieved great success. We’ve had great conversions, and people have even shared our ads.
The comments below the ads have been very good, too, since some of the ads were based on questions. Some users have responded to the questions, and the user interaction has been very positive.
How did AppAgent perform from a project management standpoint?
AppAgent prepared a timeline at the beginning of our collaboration, and although it has had some changes throughout our engagement, the team has been always on schedule. Each week we have a call with them to discuss how our timelines are looking and what we’d like to change for the next week. Additionally, I like how they’re constantly asking us for feedback.
We communicate once a week over Google Meet and we use Slack and, occasionally, email for regular communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
AppAgent listens to our feedback and is constantly improving their work. In the beginning, I was really surprised by how much they wanted to know our goal. Whenever they complete something, they ask us if it’s what we expected from them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
AppAgent could better describe what to expect with video production. We had one problem in this regard, but it was solved later. The problem was that they quoted three different video packages, and we decided on the most economical one. We expected a little more than what they provided, so it was a both-sided mistake. We didn’t ask what this package included, and maybe they thought it was self-explanatory.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Ask a lot of questions and be actively involved in the process. Additionally, know what you want to achieve and have an open discussion about your project.
