We hired AgileTech Viet Nam to design, develop, and launch Smartie, an integrated super app tailored to the South Pacific market. Our objective was to provide customers with a single, reliable platform for food delivery, ridesharing, tours, digital payments, and other local services. We also needed supporting applications and systems for merchants, drivers, and administrators. AgileTech Viet Nam handled the end-to-end technical development of the Smartie ecosystem. The main deliverables included the Smartie customer super app, dedicated apps for merchants and drivers, an administration portal, and the supporting backend infrastructure and APIs.The customer app brought together food ordering and delivery, ridesharing, tours, digital payments, rewards, and account management within a single platform. The team also implemented real-time order and ride tracking, push notifications, in-app communication, payment processing, mapping and location services, merchant and driver management, and reporting tools.AgileTech Viet Nam's scope also covered architecture, UI implementation, third-party integrations, testing, deployment to the Apple App Store and Google Play, ongoing maintenance, and continued feature development after launch.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The project successfully progressed from concept to a fully operational super app available on both iOS and Android. Since launch, Smartie has registered more than 6,000 users, onboarded approximately 200 local merchants, and processed over 24,000 transactions with a total transaction value of approximately NZD 6.8 million (approximately $3.9 million USD).The platform now supports active food delivery, ridesharing, tours, and digital payment services in the Cook Islands. These results demonstrated that AgileTech Viet Nam delivered a stable and scalable foundation capable of supporting multiple services, different user groups, and continued product expansion.At the start of the project, our main targets were to launch the complete Smartie ecosystem on iOS and Android, integrate several local services into one platform, onboard merchants and service providers, and build a stable system capable of processing real transactions at scale. AgileTech Viet Nam helped us achieve these core technical and product targets.Our broader customer-growth and market-expansion goals are still ongoing, but AgileTech Viet Nam has delivered the technical foundation required to pursue them.After launch, we tracked customer ratings and feedback, app crashes and technical errors, successful and failed transactions, payment issues, order and ride cancellation reasons, user registrations, and engagement with key features. We used analytics and monitoring tools such as Google Analytics, Sentry, and UXCam to understand user behavior and identify technical problems.The platform has collected more than 3,400 customer reviews for food orders, providing useful feedback on service quality. AgileTech Viet Nam regularly reviews this data, investigates reported issues, and releases fixes and improvements to maintain the platform's reliability and user experience.Another important outcome is the platform's ability to expand beyond its initial services without requiring a complete rebuild. Smartie now supports four major service categories — food delivery, ridesharing, tours, and digital payments — across customer, merchant, and driver applications.The platform has also attracted a balanced mix of local residents and tourists, demonstrating that it addresses the needs of different customer groups in the Cook Islands. This scalability and broad market adoption are important indicators of the project's long-term success.

They also adapted the platform to the unique operational conditions of a small island market, including limited infrastructure, changing service requirements, and the need to support both local residents and international visitors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

As the platform expanded, AgileTech Viet Nam could have introduced more structured technical documentation, automated testing, and dedicated quality assurance earlier in the project. This would have helped reduce the amount of manual testing and made it easier to manage the growing number of features and integrations.More proactive resource planning and clearer long-term release forecasting would also have been helpful as the scope evolved. However, the team was responsive to feedback and has continued improving these processes throughout our collaboration.

I provided my own designs and they built the project using NodeJS and React Native. We ended up throwing away the Reach Native code for Flutter with a new Flutter lead and it's been great thus far.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After the design and scoping was complete, we built the app within 1.5 months, and have been bug fixing for the last 2 months. What gives me the confidence is how passionate and hard-working the developers are. I'm truly impressed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We communicate over Skype, which is effective and simple enough. I also use Lark for my product specs and bug tracking and Google Suite for everything else like expense tracking.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Most impressed with their new Flutter dev lead. They are incredible to work with and are truly passionate about technology and our concept.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Perhaps the backend developer can be more responsive and collaborative. Seems to work slower, or maybe I'm not seeing it much because he doesn't really communicate (his English isn't that good). But the frontend developer keeps a good pace.

We currently don’t have downloads, as our mobile app hasn’t launched yet. We have rolled out our MVP to a controlled group of 200 users to gather real-time data on user behavior, however. Our key measure of success right now is finding growth opportunities based on how testers are using the platform.

The project manager and lead developer were very good with communication. Basically, we communicated daily with updates on the project. All deadlines were met.

I was impressed with the flow of the project. If anything wasn’t going to work out, there was clear communication about the issues and potential solutions.

From a measurable standpoint, the project delivered clear improvements across both operational efficiency and business performance.

We saw a significant reduction in the time required to manage property listings and client inquiries, with sales teams able to respond to leads much faster due to centralized, real-time access to data. This contributed to an increase in lead conversion rates and improved overall customer responsiveness.

The implementation of the CRM and tracking tools also improved pipeline visibility, allowing us to monitor deal progress more accurately and reduce missed follow-ups. Instead, they took time to understand how our sales teams operate, how clients interact with property listings, and what information management challenges we face on a day-to-day basis. This resulted in solutions that felt very tailored to our actual workflows rather than a one-size-fits-all system.
