I’m the executive director of Visit Jackson, a destination marketing organization for our city and region.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Adelsberger Marketing?

We needed to reach out and expand beyond our market, and we wanted to develop video content to do so.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Adelsberger Marketing is helping us develop a video series as an annual campaign. In addition to production and post-production, they’ve helped with strategy as well. The content is based on a weekend itinerary of the things visitors could do on a weekend in our region. The video series included all the different stops. It’s a very collaborative process.

What is the team composition?

We started with just Kevin (Small Business Marketing), but he’s since added more staffing. Now it’s about a team of three.

How did you come to work with Adelsberger Marketing?

I think I met Kevin when he went through a local leadership program. I’d seen some of his work done for the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. For us, he was the right fit because he had a younger, fresher mentality. Our market is saturated with the same people doing the same things. Adelsberger Marketing has an innovative way of thinking that intrigued us and pushed us to want to work with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent just under $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started talking in January 2017 and then started the partnership that June. We have two more videos on our contract this year.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I appreciate that he does provide analytics on a monthly basis for our campaigns. One thing he could do is add a simple one-pager that we can give to our board, who we have to share this information with. We regularly have to introduce these analytics and pitch the campaigns over and over again to the board because they don’t always understand the numbers. A one-pager could give a very high-level overview of the campaigns and help us better sell this to our board. But overall, we’re satisfied with the videos and analytics.

How did Adelsberger Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Kevin does a good job. My team is involved in the editing process. As the project continued on, I have not heard any concerns from any of them. One thing I really think is that if there’s an error on his behalf, he’s very forthcoming. For example, one campaign didn’t fire, and he immediately let us know. I’m very impressed with his communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I have recommended Kevin to other projects because he brings innovative thinking to the table. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the same time, because of his innovation, he may have a challenge in dealing with older generations and getting those folks comfortable with him. He may have to soften himself a little. He could really grow his business in being the marketing arm for lots of nonprofits here; I think there’s a huge opportunity there.

Any advice for potential customers?

Kevin is very intelligent, but sometimes he has to use even simpler terms to explain things so people can understand it. I think he needs to keep doing it. He’ll help educate these folks who don’t realize how badly they need him.

We’re a family-owned independent consumer goods company. Over the last few years, we’ve tripled in size through expansion to about 500 employees. I act as the VP and CFO.

What challenge were you trying to address with Adelsberger Marketing?

Our website had been outdated for a little over 10 years, but we’d never had the time to revamp it. As we grew, we knew we wanted to present ourselves more professionally in all aspects of our business, including our web presence. Adelsberger Marketing helped with that.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Adelsberger Marketing designed and developed our website. We provided them with various assets like our marketing video, logo, and images. Then, they culled it into a design, selecting the colors and graphics to create the right feel.

What is the team composition? 

I worked with Kevin (Owner) and Brittany (Social Media Manager).

How did you come to work with Adelsberger Marketing?

I reached out to several service providers before finding Kevin and his team. I’d actually met him a few years ago at Chamber of Commerce luncheon and kept his card. 

Out of everyone, Adelsberger Marketing had a very competitive proposal, and their past sites were professional. Their work was good-quality and matched higher-end sites. Kevin also took the time to research our industry and put his proposal in our language, which spoke to us — there was even a video. 

Additionally, it was important to us that they were a local business. Their prices were around the middle of the road, but they offered more than a comparable level of service. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $4,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

The work lasted from September 2019–February 2020. They were halfway through the project around November and focused on finetuning the site for the rest of the time.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website took us from an elementary, rudimentary solution to a robust online presence. The video plays on our home page, and there are some cool interactive things. Overall, it’s a simple site because we’re a fairly simple business. But that’s what we needed, and it still looks top-quality.

The feedback from the public and our internal management was also great, and our family ownership was pleased, as well. It was a step into the 21st century, which was fantastic.

How did Adelsberger Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

It was a pleasure to work with Kevin and his team. They were responsive, understood what I wanted to say (even if I wasn’t speaking their technical language), and took constructive criticism well. In terms of communication, we had a few in-person meetings but switched to email and phone after that.

Kevin also responded on weekends and late nights when I was working strange hours. That meant that he could make site modifications for me when needed. Sometimes, if my change requests didn’t work out, he would change them back and was gracious about it. That’s what made him easy to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

As I said before, they took the time to understand our company and finetune our project. The end result really spoke to us. It’s professional, and we’re very pleased with the work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take the time to review what they do to make sure it fits your style. They might not be experts in your business, so it’s important to look things over down to the minor details.

I hired Adelsberger Marketing to support our advertising efforts. My mentality was that if well-known brands like McDonald’s are still advertising, my business probably should be, too.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provide social media marketing support. I had existing accounts which they took over and revamped. Kevin (Small Business Marketer) takes professional photographs of the work we do and our location, then shares them across the channels. He targets specific demographics with paid advertising efforts like PPC and Facebook Ads. 

What is the team composition?

I work directly with Kevin, but there are other members of his team working with us, including Brittany (Social Media Manager). 

How did you come to work with Adelsberger Marketing?

I met him through another company that paired us together. Kevin gave us a few days of free marketing and advertising advice, so then I called him directly a few years later and asked him to handle our advertising. 

How much have you invested with them?

I spend $500 per month on his services. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since June 2017 and our engagement is ongoing.

I’m overwhelmingly satisfied with their work. Kevin has done an amazing job for our business. I’ve noticed a significant change in the business over the last few years because of his support. For example, he got my business to go viral last week.

Kevin is aggressively detail-oriented. Our communication is crystal clear. We check in weekly about their work. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Kevin is awesome. They know what they’re doing and they’re doing it really well.

I’m the director of congregational life at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Tennessee.

What challenge were you trying to address with Adelsberger Marketing?

We needed help with web development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with them designing, developing, and maintaining our site. Now they maintain it. They help with the strategy with creative and helpful ideas. They typically present options, which we discuss, and we work together toward accomplishing our goals.

They also create print pieces, graphics, and social media. We provide the content, and they design and send it to us to review. Then they’ll launch it.

What is the team composition?

I primarily work with Brittany (Social Media Manager).

How did you come to work with Adelsberger Marketing?

Kevin (Small Business Marketer) worked with a former employee at our church. They knew that they did excellent work, and knew they’d be an excellent person to work which goes a long way. It’s proven true, as we continue to work with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $10,000 - $20,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started five years ago, roughly March 2016, and have increased their responsibilities over time to the present day.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’re very aware of what works on social media and are attuned with specifically with the church market. I’ve heard positive feedback from our staff and our church members about what they see on our site, as well as our mobile app and social media.

How did Adelsberger Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re in contact daily. We do emails so that we can go back and reference them since we’re doing so many things. It always helps to have a record. We meet in-person probably two times a year, but that’s plenty. We can talk on the phone if needed, but we really try to use email as our primary means of communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I can’t say enough good things about them. We’ve increased their role because they’re so capable. I feel good because they’ve handled previous tasks so well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they should just keep doing what they’re doing. I don’t have anything I would change about how we do business with them. I’d be lost without them. They’re meeting a need that we couldn’t solve ourselves.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would just endorse them for any work someone would want to do that anyone would be able to provide. I can’t make any specific recommendations except to meet with them and listen to their advice. Open and constant communication is helpful.
