Ideally, it would have been preferable to work with a local team (in the same time zone, or something close to ours) to collaborate and problem-solve in "real time". However, the JetRuby team was able to meet during our regular business hours, and they were responsive to urgent matters outside of their normal business hours. If a non-urgent issue arose outside of their regular business hours, they were able to address it the next business day. Therefore, the time zone differential wasn't as problematic as initially expected.

A multiplatform application that was designed beautifully and functioned operationally to our high standards.

They did a great job at communicating and working with our requests throughout the project. Their transparency has been a huge positive as well. What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We signed on with Jet Ruby because of the effort they put in to understanding our project and mapping it out from the start. Working with them isn't just simply stating an idea and they build it, it's much more in depth understanding all the potential outcomes that could result from that decision and helping to plan for that. We interviewed around a dozen firms prior to making our decision with them and we would 100% do it again. They take a lot of pride in their product and aren't simply focused on collecting money and pushing something out. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something JetRuby Agency could have done differently?

No real areas for improvement. The MVP build took longer than originally planned. However that was due to scope creep and some other unforseen problems that arose. Transparency was clear throughout the build so we were never disappointed by any of this.

Everything from fixing small, obscure bugs that were annoying and hard to ferret out all the way to building functionality critical to improving user satisfaction. They have also done a deep dive into the code to clear out some technical debt.

We've seen measurable improvements in our key numbers, and JetRuby Agency has delivered several mission-critical OKRs. We've set them some very difficult technical tasks, and they've delivered 100% to our satisfaction.

They didn’t just swoop in and start rearranging our servers. First, they listened—to where we were struggling, what we needed, and even what we couldn’t quite articulate yet. Then they rolled up their sleeves and rebuilt our cloud environment from the inside out.

Deliverables? Plenty. A re-architected cloud setup with containerized services, a CI/CD pipeline that actually made sense for how we work, proper monitoring with alerts we could trust, and disaster recovery that didn’t just exist on paper. They also integrated staging environments that mirrored production closely, which cut down on nasty surprises during releases. They even cleaned up our existing configs, something most vendors would’ve left untouched.

There’s the obvious stuff reduced downtime, faster deploys, smoother scaling but the real win was peace of mind. We went from reacting to every hiccup to actually planning ahead. I remember one particularly high-traffic rollout where we expected some friction, but the system held strong, not even a hiccup. That kind of stability changes how your team works it builds confidence.

They were sharp with timelines. Not robotic, but realistic. If they said they’d deliver on Thursday, it was done by Wednesday afternoon or we got a heads-up with a solid reason why not. Communication was constant, but not overwhelming. We had weekly check-ins, shared dashboards, and one main point of contact who actually listened. They also didn’t flinch when priorities shifted. If we needed something moved up the list, it didn’t turn into a negotiation it just got done.

They owned the problems like they were theirs. That’s rare. Most vendors wait to be told what to do. JetRuby would spot things we missed and fix them before we even had a chance to discuss. One moment that stuck with me: they flagged a vulnerability in a tool we were using no drama, no blame, just a message saying “We patched it and here’s how we did it.” Their level of care and foresight builds serious trust.

For our web application, they are using RailsApps, Node apps, JavaScript in Angular, React – mostly Ruby and JavaScript.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

On a general level, they have produced super-high-quality work. At an interpersonal level, everyone there has been great to work with. From a quality level, they have provided consistently high-quality work, particularly given the strict demands of producing code that runs and works well. They're generally all senior developers.

As an example, we were running specific tasks that had to acquire data and map it into another location. One of those tasks was taking about two days to run, which caused many problems for the business. A rewrite by one of their senior engineers brought that two days down to about 45 minutes. He is a senior developer who was working on all parts of the platform, and we threw him into a highly technical challenge that he handled brilliantly.

They have a strict set of processes that work well, specifically for organizations that are a little bit less mature and need that structure. Certainly younger startups, companies that don't have proper management in place, need to be able to go to a contractor and say, "I not only need you to do this work, I need you to organize this work structurally." We needed that early on, and then we adopted many of their project management practices.

We also layered our own unique solutions on top of their structure, and they were extremely flexible in integrating directly with our new processes – whether it was tooling, timing, or structure. They're very good at being a hybrid where they can provide a specific designer, product manager or engineer all the way to how we're using them now – as our own in-house product managers – our own in-house designers. They're essentially senior engineers. They're embedded in our existing processes, and they're flexible with that, too.

A couple of things on that point. One is they are definitely a partner. We do not see them as a contractor. We've not seen this as outsourcing. We wouldn't be where we are today without the knowledge that JetRuby Agency has put into the architecture and the systems that we've adopted.

The other piece is that they put a lot of importance on understanding our business and understanding why we're doing what we're doing both at a granular level and at the level of the larger market. They understand any updates we need to make in our business, anything that would matter even at a ground level from an engineering sense. Because of that, they're deeply embedded in our culture, and our success is embedded with their success. Much of their team is working on BrightBytes projects, and they deeply care about our progress as well.

We went through an extensive period of testing our users to understand the concept, so we had interactive prototypes and fairly extensive design beforehand. JetRuby Agency developed our web app using Ruby on Rails. Initially, we worked with them just to develop an MVP. 

Once we validated the need for the product for our target users, we’ve been working with them to build out platform features. The team also helped with product management and design on an ad hoc basis to improve certain parts of the UI. They help us revalidate everything.

The quality of their engineers was high. JetRuby Angecy tests pretty extensively before they take on a new hire, and they try to attract the best people from all over Europe. From what we’ve experienced and from third-party feedback, they have some of the best developers out there.

We’ve also talked about their processes and ability to step in and handle other aspects, whether it’s design or product management. They’re a holistic team, and they’re quite incredible.

They designed and developed a full fledged e-commerce website for Handelnine. Workshops and brainstorming sessions were conducted by jetruby team for requirement elicitation; which was analyzed by the team to come up with the high level design for the system.

Once the HLD was finalized; user stories were created for the initial set of MVPs and a detailed execution plan for the project was shared by the team based on Agile scrum Methodology for project execution. The scrums were well organized and the initial MVP was delivered successfully by jetruby team. The sites are completely functional now and jetruby team is continuously supporting us during the maintenance phase and for the addition of new features to the website.

We are very happy with the Project Management, Project Execution, Software Quality, and Accountability of management as well as individual developers. One thing that can be improved by the company is devops(Infrastucture) support.

For what projects/services did your company hire JetRuby Agency, and what were your goals?

We hired JetRuby to create a high quality mobile app MVP and add advanced features to the app after that. We will continue to work with them to add more features to this app and potentially other apps in the future.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We spoke with multiple development agencies and JetRuby provided a free workshop which convinced me that their systems and approach was the right fit. No other agency provided this level of commitment before engaging. After doing this session, it was very clear that they were the right partner.

The final deliverable was an iOS app written in Swift. There were 3 stages to the project.

• Design and Discovery - figuring out the features and user flow of the project
• UI Design - finalizing the UI design
• MVP Development - developing the MVP version of the app
• Post MVP Development - adding more features to the app

We worked with around 6-7 members of their team. In the final development phase it was 3-4 members . 1 Project Manager 1 Tech Lead 2-3 Developers

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

JetRuby delivered a very high quality mobile app with very good code underneath the hood. Overall an excellent experience, and I'd recommend them to anyone. They exceeded expectations. JetRuby overdeliver.

The systems they have in place are great. They are very organized and methodical with their approach which results in deadlines being met, features being developed as expected, and final budgets matching the agreed upon contract. We are in constant communication on Slack, and if they have questions they will reach out and you'll figure out the best solution together.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

You can trust them to get the job done with minimal input from your side. We even skipped some of our weekly meetings because there was no doubt about their ability to meet deadlines and perform high quality work. We worked with 5 agencies this year for various projects, and JetRuby were by far the most impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Overall they were great, however in one phase of work there were concerns about their QA process - however after raising this with the team, they added an additional QA resource which greatly improved this area. In the grand scheme of things, this is a minor point.
