BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the President of TransSIGHT, a small business enterprise that focuses on consulting and implementation services for the North American market. I am responsible for business development and overall organizational management.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Zenovoir Technologies?

We were building a data ingestion engine that could take data from multiple sources in real-time, and then merge it for internal and external distribution through APIs. We needed additional development resources to augment our current engineering team.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to ingest data every 15 seconds from multiple sources using a scalable system that could easily configure additional sources, provided they follow the data specification.

How did you select this vendor?

We looked for a professional vendor that would commit to the delivery. In addition to having a breadth of technology stack skills, the vendor also had to feel the project was important to them. Zenovoir Technologies showed all of these attributes.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

For ease of operations and maintenance, Zenovoir Technologies built the engine on a Microsoft technology stack. The team assisted with system design, data transfer specification development, and implementation of the data ingestion module, database, and APIs. They also performed end-to-end unit testing and deployed the module on the test, staging, and production environment.

The data needed to be exposed through APIs to allow internal and external systems to consume the information. Zenovoir Technologies then needed to configure it through an API gateway and implement an alerting system for if and when the source data isn’t available.

What was the team composition?

The team included a project manager, a system architect, developers, and a QA/QC resource.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

They delivered a quality product ahead of schedule. The team’s performance boosted our reputation in the industry.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated via multiple channels: Google Drive, bi-weekly conference calls, daily communication on HipChat, and email. They also prepared stories and tasks on Jira. Although the time difference was challenging, we didn’t experience any language barriers. Our side required at least two hours of time overlap between teams to provide ample opportunity for brainstorming.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Zenovoir Technologies grasped the business domain understanding quickly. The team possessed strong development and communication skills, as well as the ability to work with a remote engineering team. They were also professional and disciplined.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

There is little they can improve on as the team continues to optimize and evolve processes. They keep training their staff in ever-changing technology stacks.
