We needed help with web development and graphic design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Zajno has been helping us design and develop our website and taking care of graphic design tasks — we have an open-ended contract with them as a service provider for those specific needs. Regarding technologies, the site is a Contentful CMS, which we're hosting on our GitHub and collaboratively maintain.

Regarding the site's concept, they've created everything based on our need to communicate modernity and aging and our high-tech, data-driven approach to it. We've given them the overall page structure, the key messages we want to share, and basic wireframes so they can use them as a starting point.

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with two members of Zajno's team, including a project manager and Pauline (COO).

How did you come to work with Zajno?

We looked at the European Awards and found Zajno's portfolio there. We thought they could be a good match for us based on their style, and after reaching out to 20 different agencies, we chose Zajno because we thought their work was exceptional.

Zajno has done a great job bridging antiquity and modernity in an engaging manner, which draws our users in. Overall, we've gotten a lot of positive feedback from people, meeting our expectations.

How did Zajno perform from a project management standpoint?

Zajno meets deadlines, stays within budget, and is flexible with our requests. Regarding communication, we use Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Zajno's team is great at interpreting the message we want to share in building graphics and designs to amplify that. We're trying to communicate many complex ideas, and they require less iteration to bring creative solutions to the table.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think they can improve anything; they're very professional and deliver great work for us.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communication is very important, so I recommend giving them a strong sense of what you're trying to accomplish and the messages you want to land. Give them enough context so they can flex their creative muscles.

We hired Zajno to redesign our website. Our old website was outdated and generic - it didn't do a good job of illustrating who we are and what we do. I was impressed with Zajno's portfolio and liked the modern and unconventional work they do. We wanted an innovative and cutting-edge design for our website.

Key deliverables were first a moodboard to make sure we were on the same page about the direction of our project. Then we were presented with a home page mockup. The first design wasn't quite right (it rarely ever is the first time!) but Zajno was really good about communication and making adjustments to the design based on our feedback.

Once the home page was approved, the next deliverables were designing the rest of our website pages. Lastly, they prepped everything for our developer, including a style guide that we can use for any future projects.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• I was impressed with the overall communication with Zajno. It was nice to have a Slack channel compared to trying to communicate via email. Measurable outcomes were good follow-through on any deadlines or time commitments.
• We were given all of the deliverables from our SOW in a reasonable amount of time and we didn't rush or move on until we completed the stage we were at. We had a couple rounds of edits for our home page and made a ton of progress from the first round to the round that we approved. I felt like Zajno truly understood our vision for our website without me having to over explain what I was wanting. This is an ideal scenario when working with a creative team in my opinion.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The project management was great! Items were delivered on time - if there were any delays they were small and communicated about in advanced. I was also impressed with feedback being delivered on. When we reviewed our website pages I would sometimes mention several things that I wanted a little differently and by the next time we reviewed everything was updated. Very few things ever slipped through the cracks. Responses were professional and thorough.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed with their unique and innovative designs and their commitment to the work they do. We were inspired by a lot of our competitor websites, but at the same time, didn't want to look exactly like them. Zajno did a great job of giving us a website design that still feels like "us" but feels unique and cool. I was also impressed to the commitment of the work Zajno does - they are experts in their field and are truly committed to giving you the best website design for your company. They went out of their way on their own to present us a very different and unique design without any of our brand guidelines restricting them.

Although the design was super cool, we had to commit to sticking to our brand guidelines. So even though we didn't go with that, the way they went above and beyond was impressive and something you don't always see with agencies doing the bare minimum to get by. I have full trust in Zajno and would like to work with them again for future projects.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Zajno could have done differently?

Not that I can think of. It took us a few rounds of editing to get our home page right but that's to be expected when working with any designer, especially on a new project.

They were amazing from a project management standpoint, as they delivered the project on time and within our budget.

I used Monday to monitor the project and communicated through Zoom, email, and phone.

We were impressed with their creativity and design prowess, as well as their professional approach to project management.

Biomesense is a biotech company that makes hardware and software technology to help scientists, doctors, and pharmaceutical companies better understand gut microbiome data. I work as an advisor to help them with digital marketing and growth.

What challenge were you trying to address with Zajno?

Biomesense’s website was very rudimentary, so we needed a new one to give our users, prospective clients, and pharmaceutical companies more confidence to potentially partner with us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We reached out to Zajno to develop our website from scratch. We contacted them and provided an ideal site map along with a copy that we wanted on the website — it basically had every aspect of the development from design to feature implementation.

They were able to take inspiration from what we sent them and turned it into a custom-designed platform for the company.

What is the team composition?

The COO was the person I initially contacted and after that, I exclusively worked what Palina (Lead Project Manager).

How did you come to work with Zajno?

I spent a decent amount of time building my own websites and happened to come across their company on Webflow Showcase. They created a lot of websites that were representative of what we wanted, so we reached out to them, agreed on the terms and timelines, then kicked off the project.

I would say we spent less than $30,000.

We worked together from February–July 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website they developed doesn’t deal with conversions or a large increase in site traffic, but it does look significantly more professional.

How did Zajno perform from a project management standpoint?

If I can rate their performance out of ten, I’d give them a 9.5. We didn’t really experience any issues and Palina was a great project manager. There was an appropriate level of pushback in the development that we believe was right for the project.

We mainly talked through Slack and coordinated through Zoom calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with how they did a solid job of what they promised. There were some parts of this project that were a bit ambiguous, but they were able to take certain aspects and run with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t know if this was their preference on how they do their process, but it would’ve been more efficient if they presented the project as a whole and gave feedback all at once.

They met every deadline. They used Figma and email for project management.

They took a lot of initial feedback and iterated on the process. They did a beautiful job. It was really well done.

No, I highly recommend them. I will definitely work with them in the future. They’re just great.  I can’t imagine having a better experience elsewhere.

We offer business intelligence solutions for apartment building owner operators. I am the co-founder and CEO.

For what projects/services did your company hire Zajno?

We needed a new professionally designed website to improve upon our old one.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to have a new branded look and feel to our website that would better align with our business.

SOLUTION

How did you select Zajno?

We were introduced to them via word of mouth from another customer. We really liked what they did for that customer's website, and after our initial intro call we knew Zajno would be able to deliver on what we wanted.

Describe the project in detail.

There was a discovery meeting that resulted in a design brief. Wireframes with content we provided were created to confirm the layout and overall look and feel.

The wireframes were then designed with the new brand colors and custom graphics and animations. We then had them implement the website themselves.

For each step, there was at least 1-2 revisions along the way, and the team was very responsive in getting back new revisions for approval. The timeline was great.

What was the team composition?

We had a main point of contact that streamlined all communication as a project manager. There was also a technical point of contact that we would provide details to for some things we needed added to the site (i.e. code snippets, etc). Behind them were other engineers and designers, but we did not directly connect with them, so I am not sure.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We love the website and have been getting great positive feedback.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Working with them was easy, the project manager was on top of everything and set expectations clearly, and their team met those expectations.

The quality of their work product output and professionalism and flexibility was impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not that I can think of.

I am the founder of Chance. We are a small startup working on financial technology that makes personal finance more approachable and engaging for teens and young adults. I oversee the company's product strategy and brand/design direction.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Zajno?

The financial industry sees young people’s struggles with money as an education problem, a technology problem, a design problem, when really, it’s an engagement problem. We founded Chance to solve the engagement in personal finance. We did not have an in-house design team, so we needed to outsource the entire UI/UX design.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed to design an engaging UI/UX that clearly stood out from the competition and appealed to a younger demographic who's favorite pastime happens to be playing video games. With that in mind, we wanted to design a personal finance mobile experience that felt and looked a lot like playing a video game.

SOLUTION

How did you select Zajno?

We searched Behance, Dribbble, and the like to find an agency that we felt could achieve the aesthetic and quality we were looking for. We considered a number of different freelancers, agencies, and ended up working with several before Zajno. After one disappointment after another, we nearly made the decision to try and hire a full-time designer, but after speaking with Zajno, and gaining an understanding of their process, we decided it was worth it to give them a shot.

Describe the project in detail.

Once we agreed to terms, we had a number of discovery meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. The meetings were recorded which was something I was quite impressed by. We reached an agreement that they'd also design our brand assets and landing page and within a week, we had already settled on brand identity and a mascot.

The landing page was complete a week later and the UI/UX design just two weeks after that. They nailed the aesthetic and design and we finalized the UI/UX in just 3 iterations. I suspect Zajno's efficiency and precision has a lot to do with their discovery process.

What was the team composition?

We were assigned a project manager to support us and serve as the main point of contact throughout the project. I mainly spoke with the project manager but there were times when I exchanged emails with their CTO and lead designer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have yet to release our product to the public as we are still testing it behind the scenes. That said, the feedback from user testing has been extremely positive. More so than we ever expected. The landing page they developed for us lead to an email waiting list of more than 50,000.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their communication throughout the project was great. Most communication took place over email and weekly skype meetings with the project manager. They were very responsive and timely with the deliverables. It was often the case that they were waiting on us to provide more information to unblock them as opposed to them being late and missing deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by their approach, versatility, and got the sense that they are genuinely passionate about design, user experience, and delivering quality work. We appreciated that they were patient and thoughtful while we worked to gain clarity in what we actually were looking for.

Our engagement with Zajno was a particularly collaborative and positive experience. We will certainly work with them again for any design needs we may have in the future.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I honestly can't identify any area that did not meet or exceed my expectations.

Zajno helped me create two platforms. They did the frontend web development for the first web application. For the second, they built the frontend, backend, the marketplace, and everything involved. They're heavy on design and do the development end-to-end. They used basic HTML hosted in Github for the first site, and Google Firebase for the second.

We work with 5-6 members from their team. We have project managers, designers, and developers.

How did you come to work with Zajno?

I was looking for a good UX-focused design agency and found them through an online search. Their work was built beautifully, which made me want to partner with them.

We've invested approximately $100,000 on both projects.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since January 2018, but our most recent project has spanned August 2019 till the present.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I've been really happy. Their communication is awesome, their quality of work is stellar, and they're also pretty affordable. Our visitor to sign-up rate is about 40%. Obviously, there're other factors to consider, but they definitely contributed to that metric. We get compliments from people all the time.

How did Zajno perform from a project management standpoint?

They've been great. When we started working together, they really design everything to perfection. They're very detail-oriented. Once we agreed on the messaging, the layout, the overall UX was good, we got consistent updates, and they open a Slack Channel. We used and Envision, and they make things very easy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're the firm that you hire if the user experience is how you want to differentiate whatever you're building from the competition. They have a great eye for building amazing web experiences.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I'm super happy with the work they've done. They have a great, fun team that's solid to work with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to let them be creative. I came to them with a loose idea that was sketched out, and I let them run with it. Given they're so creative, it helps tell the story you're trying to build. That's how you get the most out of them.

I am the founder and CEO of Altrüus, a gift card giving platform.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Zajno?

We want to create one global gifting platform and make the process more social and filled with emotion. The task was very challenging in terms of UX because we need to draw people into the app and engage within that platform to move away from the transaction-focused business, which is what the gift card industry has historically been.

When I first hired them, we needed their design skills, but since I was struggling to find good developers, I brought them on for that, too. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their team started with the superficial design, but we slowly moved into using them for more after seeing their work. I had an existing MVP that had been used to collect data from users, customers, and stakeholders for close to 20 months, and Zajno used this to ensure they understood the feedback and our needs. Using that information, they created a new UX/UI for the platform. They then moved into the development phase, using React Native to make it compatible with Android and iOS. 

What is the team composition?

We worked mostly with Yegor (Co-Founder & COO, Zajno), Sasha (Founder & CEO), Palina (Lead Project Manager, Zajno), and a team of 12 other people.

How did you come to work with Zajno?

I reached out to them in 2015 and they really understood our vision.

We have spent around $300,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in June 2015 and the relationship is currently ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We just launched a new version of a platform that they had been developing for two and a half years. Last week we started onboarding businesses and acquiring users from the previous platform to the new one. The previous version of the platform has had very good metrics and it has allowed us to raise money and approach big clients because they were good enough to let me know that we’re perceived as a meaningful company.

When investors analyze our platform, they realize we are already scalable. We’re not close to having a Series A platform, but we already have the quality of one and it’s in no small part because of Zajno. 

How did Zajno perform from a project management standpoint?

Most of our meetings are over Google Hangouts, Zoom, or Slack. Palina is very responsive and replies immediately in an efficient and effective way to every request I have. They’ve been great at meeting deadlines and scheduling as well. They make the process enjoyable and they are passionate about what they do. They have performed incredibly well; it is truly amazing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve made me better just by working with them. They’ve been patient enough with me to not only deliver amazing work, but they’ve taught me the processes that they did to complete them. I was unaware of everything I needed to learn. They learn and improve from any challenges. I have seen them grow as a company from only three employees and they have always listened to my feedback to improve.

One time I didn’t explain correctly in-depth what the requirements would be and then they coded based on the misunderstanding. From this, they became better and learned how to work with me. They learned how to ask deeper questions to understand exactly what the requirements of the project are, to then provide me with precise quotes, estimates, and timelines.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their bandwidth could maybe improve to make sure they’re growing their team fast enough to accommodate the market. They are doing so many amazing things and they are getting more requests than what they are able to take on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Explain your vision in extreme detail. The more you can explain the user journey and the higher the quality of the data you provide to substantiate your claims, you’ll empower them to deliver amazing work. If you approach them in more of a discovery phase, they can coach you, but they produce their best work when you know exactly what you want. They will build the road that can achieve your vision.
