I’m the CEO of Dost Technologies, a job platform. We provide recruitment services.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rayn Studios?

We needed to build the MVP of our mobile application. We were building a first-of-its-kind app because this job platform was meant to target workers who don’t currently have a job application built for them.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rayn Studios was our partner; they helped us from scratch with the basis of the user research. Then, they designed the UI/UX for the product and built out the first version of the mobile app. Rayn Studios didn’t just output the design; they also built the prototype and did the actual coding.

We initially gave them a note on what we wanted to build and the problems we were looking to solve. Then, we had the contractual documentation. We had conducted some user interviews because we’d already identified those people as our research subjects. Once we did that, we continued to work with Rayn Studios on it.

They used Figma and other design tools for prototyping, and the application was for Android. 

What is the team composition?

We had 4–5 people involved with the product.

How did you come to work with Rayn Studios?

I was already connected with the team because I knew them personally.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in November 2023 and launched the application in March 2024. Two months after launch, they were still helping us with design changes.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to Rayn Studios, we were able to launch. As individuals, we didn’t have the team in-house to design or build it. However, the idea was always to bring those functions in-house once the product was launched. After March 2024, we hired our own developers to build the app. Then, we also hired our own designers to take over that aspect in May.

Overall, we learned a lot along the way, and Rayn Studios did their job very well. Since we were building our newest product, we also had to learn a lot ourselves and continue to make changes. Nonetheless, Rayn Studios was very helpful.

How did Rayn Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

Rayn Studios was very accommodating, getting things done quickly according to our priorities and requirements.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

They were all excellent, but Safia (Chief Design Officer) led the project, and we worked directly with her. She was also the CEO of another studio and was great at helping create and manage the project. Due to her experience at large tech and e-commerce companies, she had excellent design principles.

Our second direct contact was Mo (Co-Founder & CEO), the lead researcher on the project. He’s done a lot of user research before, so he helped us express our thoughts and basic ideas to convert them into tangible research plans. Then, he executed those research plans with our help. We identified the subjects, booked meetings, went along with them, and provided the required information. However, Mo and his team were the primary ones doing the research.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The biggest benefit to us as people who didn’t have an idea about design and research principles was that Rayn Studios completely overtook that part. It was like having an in-house design or research team when we didn’t have that expertise. They were great at it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One area for improvement was their time management. Sometimes it took a little longer than expected. However, in my experience, these things always take longer than the basic estimations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about the requirements. Ensure you have your requirements in line because once you clearly know what you want, they can get it done precisely.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

There were three main aspects to this project: Brand identity, website design & development, and Migrating to AWS. Rayn Studios Immediately understood that we did not want generic law firm photography & designs of courthouses. We wanted to focus on how we make the clients feel. They gave us a few options of designs and worked well with our constraints. 

They created an identity system, logo to letterhead, business cards to email signatures & a beautiful website. They also had good front-end developers who created the site for us and managed it. They conducted periodic security scans of the AR&P website to ensure that no security vulnerabilities or other issues exist that can be exploited by malicious threat actors. 

They also performed periodic updates to the WordPress platform/backend (including optimizing WordPress plugins being used to ensure that all security patches and fixes are deployed and integrated and performance is optimal). Their photographer came to our office to take portraits so all images had the same look & feel on our Team page. I was impressed with their creativity, professionalism and communication.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our website was not mobile optimized and the look & feel was dated. They fixed both concerns and many customers and stakeholders have commented positively on the website since then.

What stood out to me was the exceptional level of communication. I was kept informed of project milestones and updates through frequent communications and progress reports. Approvals were requested timely, and Rayn Studios took my team along with all technical aspects of the project.

Rayn Studios can provide end to end services to establish a brand. From offline to online plus development. They are a boutique design agency that is hyper customer focused. I really wanted a one-stop-shop so I don't have to work with different vendors. I got that at Rayn Studios.

Overall, I had a great experience. They walked me through the process and were highly responsive during the engagement.
