Wow-How Studio contacted me in the past via an appealing newsletter. I reviewed their work online and decided to try them out. Our initial communication was smooth and fast.

Our client wanted to advertise their cosmetic line on a national TV channel for shopping. Video production is still ongoing. They deliver their output within our system, with very few review cycles. Their line producer feeds us the required information and reviews.

It’s great that we have a single contact. We usually communicate via Skype.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our clients are happy, and so are we. We receive the videos we need with little effort on our side.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We easily brought Wow-How into our production management and review process. Since we use Shotgun in-house, they quickly adopted this management tool. Their internal project management works well, so we’ve had no issues at all during production. They always meet deadlines, even if it requires overtime work. Plus, we do not have to explain things over and over.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I can only say good things about the Wow-How team. We appreciate their dedication, friendliness, and accessibility. It is important for us to build trust in our partners based on communication and backed up by delivered results. Fortunately, Wow-How covers both points. I always have the impression that we are working towards a common goal.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We wouldn't mind getting more out-of-the-box designs. Otherwise, we have no complaints.

I am a project manager at Chimaera. We are a blockchain gaming company for game developers offering a platform that has resolved the scaling issues that plague certain blockchain sites.

We needed videos that would explain our process to our audience. We decided we wanted to create a 3D version with the intent of entertaining our audience and a 2D version to further explain a rather complex idea and make it understandable for our audience.

With the videos, we wanted to help our audience learn more about our project and impress them with our services.

How did you select this vendor?

We began our project by working with another vendor, but they did not provide the quality we were expecting. We reopened our search for a vendor that was more familiar with gaming and creating videos. We were impressed with Wow-How, and we felt comfortable selecting them.

We provided the script and voiceover for the 3D animated video. We discussed our vision for the video, and Wow-How created a storyboard to determine if it aligned with our goals. After the storyboard was approved, Wow-How began work on the scenes, and we selected an audio track for the video.

For the 2D animated video, Wow-How helped develop the script, storyboard, and the audio.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

I worked directly with a project manager and a creative/technical director.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Wow-How had much more responsibility working with the 2D video, and that video’s quality was far greater than what we came up with ourselves for the 3D video. We have been very impressed with their work.

We released our videos on YouTube, and we have received a fair amount of positive feedback from our audience. At that time, there were not many high-quality videos in our niche area. We believe these videos make our company look more trustworthy.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their communication was top-notch. If I had a question, I could always Skype them and receive a response very quickly. Their process was clear so I would know what I could expect next.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I’ve worked with several different vendors that have promised the world, but Wow-How actually delivers what they say they will.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As a client, you always want something as quickly as possible. There were moments when I expected something a bit quicker. That was not a detriment to the project—just merely a personal preference.

Because we have no in-house design team, we brought in Wow-How to create product marketing videos for each of our features.

They replied to an ad we posted on Upwork. After review, we found that they had the most relevant work experience and in comparison to other prospects within our budget limitations.

We created the scripts and storyboard drafts internally to maintain our company voice, then Wow-how drafted character, music, and voiceover options. We continued negotiating the details until both sides were satisfied with the result.

We mainly worked on a Google Drive of shared documents and communicated through comments.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We feature these videos in the 500+ sales emails we send out daily and they're also on our website. They clearly explain each of our product features in our brand voice and can be used cross-functionally across all departments.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We communicated directly with a creative manager and a negotiations manager via Slack.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

There was consistent communication and daily check-ins to keep things on-track. 

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overall, I had a positive experience, but I had to push them a little harder to incorporate more modern aesthetics and musical choices into the product videos. (i.e.  The first draft of music was pretty standard happy/ukulele music that is pretty typical in commercials, and I came back with the idea to add jazz instead.  I also pushed having diverse and characters that were representative of our end users).  Once that direction was clear, they made the necessary adjustments.

All the videos that we do are branded specifically to each client. They've done at least 5–8 videos for us, the styles of which significantly varied. We usually come to them with the script that we wrote with our client. After that, Wow-How Studio develops the design and the storyboard and then, produces the animation.

I've worked directly with four of their team members.

I found them on Upwork. They had very positive reviews, so we reached out to them. They got back to us very quickly and we really liked their straightforward communication style.

We started working with them in August 2016 and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They've consistently delivered a solid product, which is why we've been working with them for a long time. All of our clients have been extremely satisfied. Some clients liked the videos so much that they wanted to do another video with us, which to me was a sign that Wow-How was doing an amazing job.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re incredibly responsive and always include a couple of people on every communication. Also, they have great attention to detail.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We're on a tight timeline, so we appreciate their responsiveness. In addition, they can work with a variety of styles and produce great videos no matter what style they're working with. They're very creative and often add their own stylistic flair, even when we haven't requested it.

Wow-How Studio created a 1.5-minute introductory video to highlight my firm and the prenup process. I scripted what I wanted to include, and Wow-How Studio incorporated my ideas.

I worked with two competent contacts who helped me through the design process. They did a professional job of finalizing the video, incorporating my feedback, and suggesting different options for the voiceover. The team was informative and responsive and helped make my vision a reality.

I started with the production of a new game and needed artwork and 2D graphical assets for it, as well as marketing material. We didn’t have an in-house artist.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to be able to deliver a game that would assert itself on the market, so the graphics needed to be of outstanding quality. We required different kinds of art production including illustrations and animations and videos for both the game itself and for marketing purposes.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I posted a job offer online and received several dozen applications from freelancers and agencies all over the world. In the end, Wow-How had the most convincing application due to their vast experience in this field, their very fair price, and their wide range of services.

Describe the project in detail.

The very first task for Wow-How was to come up with creative ideas and concept artwork for several game characters. I gave them descriptions of these characters as well as some reference artwork that I liked; Wow-How quickly achieved an art style that entirely matched my expectations. They also illustrated several 2D backgrounds and will continue working on additional characters, animations, UI graphics, as well as marketing materials such as banners and videos for the future.

What was the team composition?

We began our communication with one of their business development managers, who remained as our contact person for the entire project. Together, we discussed the work to be done and divided the project into milestones. There’s a line producer involved as well, who is responsible for supervising and delivering the milestones.

I haven’t been in contact with the actual artist, but I know it just a single person that’s doing all the graphics for the project so far. This may change depending on our art production needs in the future.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is still under development, so there are no metrics yet. However, everyone that’s been involved in the production of the game approves of the quality of the outcomes so far.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication and scheduling with them are very easy. We’ve only used email so far, but they’re also open to phone or Skype calls. Their project manager is available almost all the time, even on weekends.

Wow-How also offers the insight of their artists but I haven’t had the need for it yet. I didn't place hard deadlines for the milestones, but Wow-How has constantly adhered to their time estimations.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The easy communication, fair price, and high-quality results are really great. I’ve worked with different artists in Germany in the past, and even if they had delivered comparable quality, their prices were always higher.

Are there any areas for improvement?

So far, I'm very happy with the collaboration and can't think of a single problem that wouldn't have occurred with other vendors as well.

• One video of 1 minute and 20 seconds in length made to be played as a loop. No sound.
• Another slowed down to 50% version of that same video.
• Stills (JPGs and transparent PNGs) of different angles of our loop.

We haven't used this in a way we can measure success.
