I'm the owner and CEO of Mike Ousley Productions, a television production business. I'm an independent producer for television shows all over the country.

What challenge were you trying to address with Webology SEO? 

My work covers everything across the board from children’s programming to documentaries. I needed help to develop a real website that could house video demos and get my brand out there on a national level.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Webology SEO started by meeting with me to learn about my business and what I wanted to accomplish with my website. I’m not technology oriented so they offered a totally turnkey solution. I told them what I needed and they created a mockup. I made a few suggestions and changes, which they turned around quickly.

The key feature is that they integrated streaming video onto the website. The videos play instantly instead of the user having to wait for them to download. Site visitors also have access to my demos and can make comments. There’s also a place for them to indicate that they're interested in my work, and send a request to get in touch with me. I continue to send Webology SEO new videos and demos. They add them to my website as part of my ongoing contract.

What is the team composition?

My initial meeting was with both Blake (Owner, Webology SEO) and Jake (Digital Marketing Consultant, Webology SEO). 75% of my interactions throughout the project were with Jake and 25% with Blake. 

How did you come to work with Webology SEO?

I don’t remember how I found them, but their quick turnaround definitely stood out. The two other companies I spoke to said they’d get to me in 2–3 months. Webology SEO said they’d have something for me to look at in two weeks. 

I also liked that they weren’t trying to nickel and dime me. They were more interested in my company and what I wanted. The other companies wanted to talk about money and everything was a la carte. Webology SEO said they wanted to do something that makes me happy and gets me to where I want to be.

I spent $22,000. 

What is the status of this engagement? 

The project took place about 18 months ago. My new website launched 21 days after our initial meeting, which is just unheard of.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Webology SEO produced a lot more than just a simple website. They created an in-depth, high-quality, and professional site that gave me a presence on the web. I'm thrilled with the site and know that I will use it on an ongoing basis.

Thanks to their work, a television station in Las Vegas watched several of my videos and demos multiple times. I reached out to them and was able to pick up that contract. I feel like I got $40,000 worth of work out of my investment and I couldn't be happier.

They showcased my work in a concise way by category. That allows users to easily click on and watch videos that pertain to them instead of having to scan through everything that I've done. The site makes sense for potential clients.

Every week I get reports on who's been to my website and how many videos have been viewed by potential customers. I’ve been so absolutely thrilled by their work that I've already recommended them to a law firm.

How did Webology SEO perform from a project management standpoint? 

Webology SEO’s workflow was fabulous. The whole project was easy and precise, right from our initial meeting. Their first pass at the website was 98% what I wanted and only 2% needed changes. As my focus is on delivering to my clients, they made it so simple for me to turn everything over to them.

Blake and Jake were both very responsive and professional. They’re helpful and available whenever I needed anything or I was having trouble, even on the weekends. It was great.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They listened and paid attention. I did most of the talking at our first meeting. Webology SEO took notes and asked great questions. Other companies talked about what they could offer instead of trying to learn about my business.

Webology SEO focused their energy on me to the point where they didn't answer their phones during our meeting. As a prospective client, that was so impressive to me that they would block off time to focus on my needs. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

No, but other companies could learn from them. Webology SEO is customer focused and not sales driven. They don’t constantly push me to upgrade. They'll send me an email to let me know my new video will be up in the morning, and is there anything else they can do for me? They don't try to sell me on new features. They're happy that I'm happy, and grateful for the relationship we have.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We now get 4–6 good leads per week, and these leads bring in from $1,500–$4,000 in profit. It's been a very good investment for us.

How did Webology SEO perform from a project management standpoint?

We talk at least once a week. They do a great job guiding the process and always explain the things that I need to know about SEO so that I can make informed decisions. I have Blake's phone number and email, so I just call him directly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're great at explaining the SEO process and where we fit into that process. Because of that, we could develop an overall vision of where we wanted to be: we didn't have to be in the top slot and pay an enormous amount of money because we could get just as good a return if we were in the third slot for a third of that amount.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't have a lot to compare them to, but I'm perfectly satisfied with the way they handle everything.

Have a clear goal of what you want to accomplish and where you want to be.

I'm the office administrator and paralegal at Moses & Moses. We're a small law firm that mainly does estate, elder law, and business planning in Birmingham, Alabama.

We wanted to be at the top of the first page of Google results for firms that do estate and business planning. We’d used other SEO companies in the past, but didn’t get the results that we were looking for.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We first met with Blake (CEO & Founder, Webology SEO) to go over our website. He’d pulled the Google Analytics so he could show us what we were doing right and where we were going wrong. He created a really detailed SEO plan, as well as strategies to fix problems on our website. For example, the site isn’t loading properly. He’s currently working to address that issue.

One of the partners met Blake at a marketing network event. He really liked him and suggested I call him. I did, and thought he'd be a good fit for us.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our firm now comes up first when people in Birmingham search “estate planning” or “elder planning” or “probate.” The phone constantly rings with new clients. Previously our referrals were mainly word of mouth, but now we’re getting many more Google referrals. Last week, we set up 15 new client meetings in two days that all came from Google.

How did Webology SEO perform from a project management standpoint?

Their responsiveness is very good. If I send an email, I'll generally get a response back that day or within 24 hours. We have a standing monthly check-in, but Blake is available if I ever have any questions.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Blake does a great job of explaining SEO terminology to us in a way that we understand. He’ll come in the office and meet with us face-to-face to review our monthly results and answer our questions. I've gotten similar reports from the other SEO firms, but they never took the time to explain them to me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We've been very happy with them so far.

Any advice for potential customers?

Sit down with them first and go over your goals and your challenges. It helps to be realistic that SEO isn’t like flipping a switch. We knew that we weren't going to immediately move up in the search results overnight. Give them six months to a year, and you will see a big uptick in business referrals.
