What challenge were you trying to address with webol?

We had an outdated website that didn't reflect our business. We approached webol to look for solutions to support a modern website that was more in line with our growth ambitions.

What was the scope of their involvement?

webol was responsible for our website's design and development. The team reviewed and understood our business needs and then built the website. We went to webol to bridge our knowledge gap in web development.

We worked with around 2–3 teammates from webol. We initially talked with webol's director to discuss our business needs and create a brief. We then worked with designers and backend developers. 

How did you come to work with webol?

We found webol through a referral. We received several referrals and spoke with three companies. We found that webol understood our needs the best and catered to them in a resourceful way, indicative of their developers who could liaise with us.
How much have you invested with them?

We spent just under £10,000 (approximately $13,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with webol from the second to the fourth quarter of 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We usually use our website to showcase our products and the properties we buy. Our site is an advert for people to know about our products and brands. We noticed a substantial amount of feedback about the professionalism portrayed by the new website, which was one of the primary briefs we gave webol. We requested the team to portray information in a way that was easy to read. 

How did webol perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly meetings with webol via Microsoft Teams and Zoom. During the frontend development phase, we had conference calls with the team, and once the website was in development, webol's developer shared their screen with us. We also communicated via Slack. When we requested edits to a draft, webol incorporated them easily. In other instances, the team would explain the rationale of their work, and if we wanted to change it, they explained the knock-on effects.

When we thought it was a good idea to change something, webol explained the impact, and when our requests didn't impact the site's technical aspect, the team just implemented our feedback.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

James (Director) understood and communicated our needs in a helpful scope.

What did you find most impressive about them?

webol offered a personal feel to their work, and we felt like they were an extension of our business rather than a third party. The team's communication was easy, punctual, and efficient. webol offered a steady stream of personal communication.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything webol could improve.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I suggest engaging with webol and chatting with the team because they will work through your requirements and fulfill your needs. webol is honest about what they can offer, has a broad range of services, and provides a wide platform for IT.

We needed to build a database software solution for project management.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I engaged with webol to build a custom software solution for my company; however, I discovered that a competitor was creating the same solution and didn't want to compete. webol produced wireframes and a full functional specification document (FSD) of the software they would develop, and I decided to end the engagement after that.

What is the team composition?

I worked with two developers and two project managers from webol. Two team members were the main ones, and the other worked on more specific tasks regarding the API I was looking for, one of whom produced the FSD.

I found webol through Clutch. I selected webol because they matched the criteria of the filters I had chosen on Clutch. webol was the only company I contacted, and they impressed me.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with webol from January–April 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The FSD and wireframes webol delivered exceeded my expectations and were pretty detailed and accurate for what I was trying to do. The team understood the product we were trying to build. 

How did webol perform from a project management standpoint?

webol was very quick and polite. The team was responsive via Google Meet, and one of the teammates even had a baby in the middle of the project, but that didn't affect our work. I was very happy from a project management point of view. Additionally, webol's offer fit what I was expecting regarding price. I asked a friend who worked in the industry if he thought the price webol gave me sounded sensible, and he agreed.

I want to highlight James (Director) and Thoma's (Co-Founder) work.

I suggest giving webol the time they want to understand what you're trying to do, and this will maximize your benefits because the team's work is fantastic.

Webol built our entire website over 300 pages of details on destinations and properties. They created unique functions for us with many pages and custom built headers and footers. Webol created sliders for us, worked on creating custom template pages for us to use in the future as well.

They also worked on adapting plug ins to suit our website specifically and created search functions. They were friendly and professional and worked efficiently and to the time scale set and agreed prior to starting work.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Webol created all of the pages and formats that we required from the website. They created a functioning homepage with search function and stylish header for web users to navigate our website. They custom built templates for us to create new property and destinations for is and successfully implemented plug ins for our images to use in the future.

The website was completely once all the pages and functions that we required we made. Webol were also excellent at testing our website to make sure it all worked before going live and have been very helpful and easy to contact when we have had additional projects after the completion of building our website.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

When we instructed Webol to manage and create our website James created a project management plan which the developers stuck to well. If we added anything in they were helpful in assisting and if any issues with our design arose they were quick to communicate this with us and work out a solution. The work was done on time and well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Webol understood our needs and were able to put our ideas into creating an excellent website that we are very pleased with. Everyone from the team was so friendly and easy to work with, communicated well daily with progress and helped advise us of how to improve our initial design. Everything they promised they delivered and we will continue to use them when we update our website.

Are there any areas for improvement or something webol could have done differently?

No, they were very clear and managed our expectations well delivering a better website than we had hoped for. We are pleased with their service.

Following a few discovery meetings, the team put together a document for me to confirm that they’d grasped what we wanted. From there, we worked together to build an e-commerce platform, as well as several other projects. We used Laravel, Flutter, and PHP. They continue to be our technology partner.

Thomas (Co-founder) is incredibly helpful with the commercial side of things, consultancy, and the sales process. James (Director) is very helpful on the development side. He explains everything very simply and he’s a fantastic link between the salespeople and the developers.

I reached out to Tom on LinkedIn about five years ago trying to sell him something. When he and James started webol, I reached out to them for development services.

The project cost over $50,000.

We started working together in December 2020, and the collaboration is ongoing.

Our collaboration with webol has helped us grow and expand our business. We feel confident knowing we have a valued technology partner. 

How did webol perform from a project management standpoint?

The webol team delivers on time and on budget. They made me feel very comfortable throughout the build. We’ve created a very long-lasting relationship.

I’m impressed with the value webol has brought to our company. They really took the time to understand our business.

They need to continue to grow how they are and maintain the management they’re already providing.

Keep communication open and clear. Make it a collaboration and go in trying to learn as much as possible from them because they have a good depth of knowledge.
