BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Vice President of Friends of United Hatzalah, responsible for overseeing global fundraising for a team that raises $40MM+ annually. Our mission is to support United Hatzalah of Israel - When emergencies occur, rapid medical treatment increases chances of survival exponentially.

Using specially equipped motorcycle ambulances, United Hatzalah’s network of more than 6,200 volunteer medics help save thousands of lives each year across Israel by providing medical treatment in an average response time of 3 minutes or less. Our humanitarian services are free, universal and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Waypoint, and what were your goals?

Our challenge was to create a unified donation and gamified platform that is intuitive and easy to use for all user types (for admins, donors, runners). The goal was to create a peer to peer team based platform that could easily onboard runners, encourage competition for fundraising success, and facilitate easy management of process and data from the back end.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We sourced quotes from various web developers that we have worked with in the past, including looking at examples of similar platforms they had built, and selected based on cost, ability to execute, and ability to deliver in an accelerated time line.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The scope was to design the UI and UX for a peer to peer team based fundraising platform, which required a lot of discovery to understand our own goals and needs, and then a design stage to create a beautiful site, and then development stage and testing stage to ensure the platform worked as needed. The site was build on wordpress.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The project manager was the main point of contact, but we were regularly on calls with their design team lead and their development team lead.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Since launching we have seen hundreds of runners sign up on the platform and approaching $100k in funds raised on the site, just in the first few weeks of deployment. This is probably the first platform/site I've ever been part of developing that has had effectively zero bugs since launch.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Project management is excellent. Great ability to understand needs, build plan of action, facilitate buy-in across multiple stake-holders, set timelines and give regular updates on progress against that timeline.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They made the complicated development project a cordial process for a non-technical person like me.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only thing I can say would be that they potentially too accommodating at times, allowing for too much time for open conversation from various stake-holders at the risk of not moving forward quite fast enough.
