I’m the founder of a travel app startup.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenges were you trying to address with Wandio?

Our main goal was to create a mobile app that would provide hiking itineraries.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a mobile app for Android and iOS. It’s integrated with several other technologies to enable GPS and weather tracking. For example, they helped us integrate with Mapbox, Google Maps, and a street weather map. They also took care of the design and UX/UI. They used Swift and .NET. 

We’re currently in our fundraising phase, so once we get more angel investors, we’re hoping to make the app scalable. 

What is the team composition?

We had a designer, a  project manager, an Android developer, and an iOS developer. Sometimes, additional managers also helped us. 

How did you come to work with Wandio?

I’d worked with the Wandio founders when they were at a different company. I decided to continue my partnership with them on my personal project. 

How much have you invested in them? 

We invested about $25,000. However, we also gave them equity in the company, so the cost is less than their typical commercial rates. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on this project in March 2019. We’ve paused the project for fundraising, but we hope to continue working with them to develop the solution in the future. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This is the main product of our business, so it has a huge impact. We have good ratings on the App Store and Google Play Store – we’re averaging 4.9/5 stars. We’ve also gotten positive feedback on social media. 

How did Wandio perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Teamwork. They also had a ticketing system that we could use to let them know about specific issues we wanted to address. We also use Slack to communicate with them. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m very satisfied with the solution. The team is easy to work with. They have high standards and a professional attitude. I’m comfortable working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could provide more active support sometimes. However, I’m satisfied with the level of service they provide.
