I’m a project manager at Imprint.com. We’re a promotional products company, we print on banners, yard signs, and wristbands, and things you’d see at trade shows like T-shirts.

What challenge were you trying to address with Victorious?

We’re doing an SEO project with Victorious, where we’re trying to rebrand and improve our standings for apparel in the market.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re helping us with two aspects of SEO. 70% of what they work on is the backend programming and technical stuff. The other 30% is content-related, so titles, writing, actual paragraphs, and keywords to help our position on Google.

They pulled up some pages that they thought needed help, and then they would suggest some keywords. Then I would oversee the implementation of actual content.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with John (Project Manager), but he would bring in other team members if needed.

How did you come to work with Victorious?

Our CEO brought them to our attention. He heard of them through word of mouth. They’re known as one of the best SEO companies in our area.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $14,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2020 and our work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We go through our content every couple weeks and they're able to give me updated keywords if there are any changes. And that's obviously helpful to stay up to track on what is and isn’t changing.

How did Victorious perform from a project management standpoint?

The people we work with are very personable. They have a lot of different tools to help keep up organized, like Asana. That helps us track what needs to get done. We can also contact them through phone or email, and they always get back to us very quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been going through a bit of a hard time because of the COVID-19 outbreak and our company runs on tradeshows and events. So, we asked Victorious to pause the project because of our low revenue, and they’ve been very nice and have worked with us. We’ve been able to sit down to go over each aspect of the project to pick what can be paused and what other tasks are still valuable to work on over the next few months. They’ve been super understanding, and it’s a great indicator of the type of people they are.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They are experts in the area, and we’re not, so it would be nice if they simplified how they explain things.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be prepared to work hard, because they’ll give you a lot to work on. Know that you will also have to do some work to get the results you’re looking for.

It was clear what they needed from our team and what they were going to provide. Clear timelines and open to all lines of communication. When we were opposed to any changes they requested the Victorious team was very patient and would explain why it was important to make certain changes and the results reflected in our score on google quickly.

Sometimes they were hesitant about our timeline. we wanted to make changes as soon as possible and they were more open to it taking a little longer.

We understand that SEO is a long game, but we still wanted there to be some urgency. When tasks were completed it would have been nice to know they were aware and ready for the next step. our team held the pace for the project.

I am the Director of Marketing at Jetpack Workflow. We are a B2B Saas technology company that serves the accounting and bookkeeping industry. We market workflow software that enables firms to run a more efficient and profitable business. I am responsible for the end-to-end marketing strategy; from strategy to execution across paid and organic efforts.

For what projects/services did your company hire Victorious?

When I first started at Jetpack Workflow, I knew that I would need to dig into the website analytics to understand what was happening from an engagement and traffic health standpoint. After seeing great growth in the first few years of business, traffic had started to fall off and we identified some possible algorithm updates that were contributing factors. Knowing that an SEO audit and strategy was best left to the experts, I started searching for a firm that could do the heavy lifting for audit and strategy, but also be educational in their approach so we could learn as much as we could during the time we worked with them. We had never worked with a vendor in this capacity before, so we carefully vetted firms until Victorious scored above and beyond others. We ended up hiring Victorious to complete a website audit for us and to provide an initial 6-month strategy to start triaging the organic traffic loss. We ended up renewing with them after the 6 months due to their excellent client services, education, and thoughtful and impactful strategy recommendations.

What were your goals for this project?

Organic traffic was a huge factor for new customers to find us so we knew that this was a high impact, high return project, even if we knew it would take some time. This work was intended to help support and regain lost traffic. The extended contract is in place to help us gain new traffic to the website while supporting a website transition. We were hoping to see a lot of our site health checks to come back with improved grades/scores, more traffic and a better understanding of how we can shape content strategy alongside SEO best practices.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We created an internal scorecard of what we wanted in a firm. I do have a long experience in digital marketing agencies so I was also looking for a firm that seemed honest, transparent and factual. If there was a firm that was promising #1 on Google rankings, I was not interested. I wanted a firm that presented sound SEO strategy - and if they didn't know the answers, they would find them for us. We ended up using about 6 criteria to grade vendors, including factors such as team size/support per client, cost and a record of success. We evaluated roughly 7 vendors. I was the sole decision-maker, however our CEO was involved in the process as well. The deciding factor for choosing Victorious was their prompt and courteous replies, their willingness to work with us on budget and their approach to strategy which was rooted in best practices that I was also familiar with. Start to finish, the experience with Victorious has been excellent and that really put them above other firms.

Describe the project in detail.

Victorious jumped right in and was able to kick off a strategy session to understand our business and market. They then jumped right into the website audit and within a month, they delivered a comprehensive audit as well as keyword research to get us started. Their project management system was well organized and easy to understand and their team was available for questions. The keyword research was refined by speaking with us multiple times and further understanding our intended goal(s) for this project.

What was the team composition?

We've had one main contact in this process, Jeff. He's been wonderful to work with, leading us in strategy and discovery sessions. He's the main point of contact for us. If he can't answer a question for us, he's pulled in other strategists who have al been knowledgable and helpful for us. We had two business development managers who supported us on the contract side. Both were also very patient and did not overbear on the sales side. I really appreciated the low pressure approach.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have been seeing steady growth on organic traffic, but not a waterfall. However, many of the issues remain on our site that are beyond the control of Victorious and we are in the midst of a website update to remedy most of these issues. We have seen contributions to our free trials and customer counts stabilize (original goal) and start to slowly increase in the last few months.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I've been super pleased with the workflow between teams. They are able to answer questions in a timely manner, and if they don't know the answer, they at least respond and acknowledge receipt which is really reassuring. We speak monthly, but email frequently. Jeff has been happy to jump on an extra call to sort out any additional questions live as well.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

If I could choose three it would be: Customer service, SEO expertise and pricing. They're worth every penny we have invested in them. Compared to the competition, I appreciate how organized and seamless their process is. I never once felt like I was speaking to separate teams (sales and success). I am eager to see where this year takes us in terms of traffic and new customers from the work we have begun and continue to do with them. Again, coming from an agency myself, I'm super happy with the level of service I am receiving. I totally understand that they likely have many clients per account manager (if's the nature of the beast!), but I am happy with the level of service and kind communication I get.

Are there any areas for improvement?

It's hard to find something, but one thing I would recommend is that Victorious keep a company fact sheet for each client. There have been a few times that I repeated myself on a small detail (seasonality of business), that could easily be avoided if there were a fact sheet on file for us as a quick reminder. Again, I totally get that there are multiple clients per manager, so I am quick to forgive these small details that are forgotten in the days of meetings that can be agency life.

SEO projects can be overwhelming because SEO is technical. Their team makes the concept easy for us. We have an account manager, and they have several other people behind the curtains. We’ve been on calls with at least five people from their team, including strategists and managers.

I heard of them through a conference in Seattle. They were very knowledgeable; it definitely sounded like they knew what they were talking about, and they had a great client base already. They’d also been nominated for several awards. They had amazing accolades, and that also came into play.

We started working with Victorious in November 2019, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of the KPIs are targeted keywords. Over just a few months, they’ve increased our keywords by over 800 total keyword positions. Organic traffic increased by about 9% from January to February. They increased our number of clicks by about 7% over this same period.

How did Victorious perform from a project management standpoint?

Our main contact is on top of everything. I’ve worked with a lot of account managers, and she’s the first one I don’t have to follow up with on certain things. Right after calls, she lets us know what she needs from us and what we need from them. They deliver on every request that we have and every promise they give. We mainly communicate by email, but we also have weekly to monthly calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a very good setup and are well-organized. They’re clear about what the deliverables are going to be and provide constant reminders about those deliverables. There has never been a question about what we’re getting from the investment. Victorious has a good, well-refined process that delivers, and that has given them much success.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only gripe I have is that they weren’t too familiar with our industry. We run into this a lot because it’s a very niche industry.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

They should ask questions. Often times, people aren’t entirely sure what goes into SEO work. Victorious is incredibly knowledgeable, and, if our account manager doesn’t know something, they’ll be frank about it and come back with an answer or whatever mitigation is needed.

I’m very knowledgeable about SEO, so I can talk to them on a technical level, but their team is great about explaining SEO in terms that our upper management can understand, along with the value that it provides. That makes my life a lot easier, and it definitely speaks to the benefits that they provide.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a vape company and e-commerce shop called Vapebox.

What challenge were you trying to address with Victorious?

We rely on SEO a lot in our industry because we typically can't buy paid ads for vape products. Started in 2015, our company now gets 80% of our traffic from organic. Something happened, either on our end or somewhere else, and we took a huge tank. We lost all our commissions and were looking for someone to help us get out of that hole.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first half of it was examining to our site, making adjustments where needed, and testing them. The second half was focused on growth through organic SEO efforts.

What is the team composition?

I had an account manager as my sole point of contact, and there was a team assigned to us.

How did you come to work with Victorious?

I learned about them through Clutch. I’m not an SEO expert, and I was looking for a company I could feel confident in. We’d be paying a lot of money for these services, and most of the vendors were promising the same thing. I was drawn to them because we could call whenever we had questions, rather than once a month for progress reporting. I based a lot of my decision on the testimonials I found on third-party sites like Clutch.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $25,000–$50,000 on the project. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Victorious between February 2019–2020. We stopped because we wanted to reduce costs. It wasn’t to do with Victorious’s services.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After working with them, we grew our overall ranking keywords by 569%. We also saw a 271% growth for page-one keywords. Our site may have been penalized in 2016, so their efforts made up for that. We got those numbers back up after a few months with Victorious, and we've experienced steady growth from there.

How did Victorious perform from a project management standpoint?

In the beginning, they told us what we could realistically expect from their team based on our needs. They gave us a monthly report that detailed notable growth for various keywords. Throughout that process, they used shared Google Documents as well as an Asana board to remain well-organized. It was easy to keep up with the progress that way.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Victorious was very professional and easy to talk to. I was most impressed by the results because there was a lot that needed their attention on our site. They helped me understand their reasoning for changes, which helped our non-technical team learn about their process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing that instantly comes to mind. They’re very responsive, so everything was good.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients should be extremely transparent. When we first started, we weren’t completely transparent about how we hurt our rankings in the past. Once they found that out, they were able to locate problems faster. Victorious is just trying to help, so transparency is key.

We were trying to grow our organic traffic through Google. I was looking for an SEO company that’s demonstrated mastery of the subject and could help us do well.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I decided to be very involved with them, funneling all relevant information through them. To accommodate for SEO, they made several structural changes to our HTML semantics. Their goal was to make the solution very lean so Google can properly crawl the contents of each page. In addition to optimizing our site’s format, they wrote content for our team as well. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with two people who wore all the needed hats during the project.  

How did you come to work with Victorious?

I saw that they were rated highly by a reputable platform. Their price point was higher than other companies I was considering, but I still presented them to my boss. He decided to give us enough budget to move forward with their team because we were convinced that they were the best. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $3,500 each month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in October 2019, and our work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our traffic has increased significantly since we started working with them. This month, traffic was up by about 40%. At this point, we’re starting to rank for thousands of keywords because of our optimized page content, vetted descriptions, titles, calls to action, and more. That, in part, can be attributed to the quality of their content creators. For many of the keywords, we’re now ranking on the first or second page. As we earn more backlinks, we continue to rise in the ranks. I couldn’t be happier with their work and process.  

How did Victorious perform from a project management standpoint?

They were friendly and clear while maintaining a technical project approach. I’m able to sync up with them on details and broader concepts. We recieve monthly reports and have access to a dashboard to track our progress. Their dashboard updates daily, so we’re able to see our progress whenever we like. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their results speak for themselves. With SEO, you get what you pay for. They really know the industry and can do SEO the right way. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They have so much demand for content marketing that it takes a while for us to recieve article inputs. That’s a growing pain, but I’m still loyal to them in this area. Aside from that, everything has been great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Learn as much about their process as possible. Then, provide them with as much useful information about your company as possible. That’ll help them maximize your SEO strategy.

Originally, we were ranking on Google for a few hundred words. Now, we’re ranking for over 4,000 keywords. That was a significant indicator of their success. At this point, we’re ranking on the first page for over 10 key phrases. That’ll continue to increase over time.

They were excellent with communication and very detailed. We communicated over email and phone calls. Our team has a check-in call each month where we spend an hour going over everything.

They’re transparent in providing us with their research and work that goes into their decisions. Throughout the project, they explain each step they take. Most importantly, their results are unparalleled. They follow through on their promises.

I have no complaints.

Be upfront with your expectations, showing honesty and transparency. The process takes time, but they will deliver.

We have several calls a month and use Google Docs to share documents. Their team has a proprietary tool for analytics that I can access 24/7. They’re organized, thorough, and great communicators. There’s a lead on my account, so there’s never a question about who to contact. The process is streamlined. Unlike Victorious, there are many companies that assign 4–5 different people to an account, so you never know who to contact when you have questions. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication’s top-notch. For a long time, I was with a smaller agency and got used to their 24/7 availability. When I went to Victorious, one of my main concerns was accessing their team. They’ve certainly met my expectations.

I have nothing negative to say about Victorious.

State your goals and concerns upfront. Make sure that you’re on the same page. From the get-go, I was clear with what I expected to get from this relationship. So far, they’ve exceeded my expectations.

We’ve adjusted our thinking and strategy because of their team. Our organization has seen a lot of growth in the overall area we want to rank high in. Victorious is creating some new keywords, and I anticipate we’ll see growth in those areas as well.

Our account manager is great. We speak multiple times a week. When he’s out of the office, the backup team is really responsive as well. They’ve been great to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What’s most impressive is their customer service and desire to help us accomplish our goals. Also, their account management skills are excellent.

I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I advise them to be forthcoming and upfront about their true goals and where they need the most assistance. Victorious will step in and help with that. That’s been a beneficial part of our partnership.
