The project management was outstanding. Every deliverable was met on schedule, demonstrating their commitment to punctuality and quality. Furthermore, the team was highly responsive to our feedback, ensuring they consistently met and addressed our needs promptly and professionally.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out most about this company was their astonishing speed in addressing issues, especially considering the novelty of the technology involved. Their ability to swiftly understand and rectify challenges in such a cutting-edge domain truly surprised and impressed us.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Vangwe could have done differently?

Certainly, while Vangwe's performance was largely commendable, there was room for improvement in the initial user onboarding process. Given the complexity of the Web App for Parliamentary Alerts, a more comprehensive tutorial or walkthrough during the first-time user experience could have eased the learning curve. This would have ensured that users could more quickly harness the full potential of the platform without feeling overwhelmed by its advanced features.

I’m the founder and managing director of NotionV, a small consulting firm. We work with venture capital companies and early-stage startups.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vangwe?

One of our clients was a company in South Carolina that focused on the outdoor sports space. Years before, they released a product pointed at a very lucrative part of the market. It did well for a while, but then they let it languish. The challenge was to take some of the insights from that previous product and build an MVP that would be new and compelling to the market.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vangwe has built a mobile application. They’ve done the frontend and backend in React Native for flexibility. We initially designed most of the app and UX, and they’ve developed it from that point.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with nine people so far, including Agustin (Co-Founder & CEO) and Mateo (Co-Founder & CTO). We had 3–5 people on the initial team, and then we expanded the scope. There are 2–3 people working on the frontend and other two on the backend.

How did you come to work with Vangwe?

It was a referral. We mainly chose them because they seemed to want the work. We could tell that beyond the technical aspects, they functioned more like a partner than an outsourcing company. Their questions had to do with the purpose of what we were doing so they could ultimately add value in ways that we didn’t anticipate from a technology group.

Also, they were very flexible on the cost. The value was high, and the price was reasonable.

We’ve spent close to $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been together since October 2021, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app has been out for a week, and it’s been a soft launch, so it’s pretty early to tell. However, they’ve done an excellent job building many different aspects of the app that could lead to success. We’re starting to get good data on the different types of experiences. In general, they’ve brought important nuance that will yield the right kind of data so that we can make good decisions.

How did Vangwe perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication is very clear, and they’re good at doing what they say they’ll do. Also, we value a thoughtful timeline, and they’ve been excellent at delivering according to it, plus or minus a little variability.

We primarily use Slack, and it has worked very well. Since we’re based in New York, the client is in South Carolina, and Vangwe is a distributed team across Europe and South America, that’s the most efficient way to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They really feel like partners. We’ve worked with other companies, and they might have been good technically, but they felt like a third-party company. Vangwe isn’t like that; they understand what we’re trying to accomplish.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have complaints. They’ve done an excellent job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be as forthcoming as you can about what you’re trying to accomplish, the genuine opportunities, and potential obstacles. Getting it all out there requires trust, but Vangwe is an incredibly trustworthy group. You can feel comfortable opening up about everything you know and sharing information with them. They’re problem solvers, so they’ll use it to build good products.

I’m the founder & CEO of Yala, a fintech platform designed that provides financial tools in the charitable space. Charities, enterprises, donors, and foundations benefit from our platform.

We were looking to partner with an external development team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vangwe functions as our central development team and some of their responsibilities include front- and backend development. The team is involved in creating concepts, design, strategy, and more. We’ve given them access to our AWS, MongoDB, and GitHub accounts. They also provide CTO and architecture services as needed on projects.

So far, they’ve built all of our clients’ apps and our internal web app, and they continue to optimize them. They’ve built our entire data platform and connected it to API data sources to analyze user behaviors.

I’m working with many people from Vangwe, including Mateo (Co-Founder & CTO) and Agustin (Co-Founder & CEO). I also interact with their technical team.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We track the quality and speed of their work as well as the accuracy of their estimates. In those three metrics, they’ve exceeded our expectations. Overall, they provide us with everything we need from a development standpoint, and we have no reason to look for a different partner.

How did Vangwe perform from a project management perspective?

They’ve done a great job of adapting and adding roles as needed. We have daily and weekly calls with various members of their team who are overseeing different tasks and aspects. we use Jira and Confluence and communicate via Slack and Asana.

What did you find most impressive about them? 

They do what they promise in a timely manner without compromising quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. If something doesn’t work, we work together to quickly resolve it.

Be transparent about all your goals and desires. Work closely with Vangwe to define deliverables.

We needed to build a POC to validate our initial ideas about our product.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We got good referrals and the team made a good impression when we interviewed them.

The POC included two different systems, the first was a simple version of our product, implemented as two services: a backend that was developed with node.js and a frontend in react. The second system was a data-gathering tool also implemented in node.js.

There were 3 people on the team: 2 were developers (one was senior) and a project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The POC was developed successfully and allowed us to push forward with our company plans.

The project management style was great, with two sync meetings per week and ongoing communication by email and slack. And more important, everything was effectively communicated, and the team had a great attitude during the engagement.
