I'm the engineering manager at Unique.

What challenge were you trying to address with VALLEX?

I wasn't in my current role when we hired VALLEX, so I'm not sure what the challenge was. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

VALLEX provides my company with senior-level TypeScript and JavaScript expertise. We utilize those services for event-driven development. Their team has also invested a lot in our Java development, using various platforms, features, and tracing formats like OpenTracing. VALLEX has also set up Jaeger instances to trace events and distribute systems — there were over 80 microservices. 

They also serve in an advisory role, working with Kubernetes software and executing 10 deploys a day. Their team has invested a lot into our pipelines, advising on and implementing a huge part of our system's architecture. About 80% of the overall architecture of our service management was based on VALLEX's advice.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with about 10 teammates, including a team lead and a lead architect. 

How did you come to work with VALLEX?

My company was working with VALLEX when I started working there. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I believe my company started the engagement with VALLEX in 2014. The partnership is probably ongoing, but I'm no longer heavily involved in the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality of VALLEX's work is very satisfying. However, the quality has fluctuated as our budget changed; we haven't always financed the proper setup or given them enough time to deliver high-quality work. 

How did VALLEX perform from a project management standpoint?

We've used Slack to communicate and Jira to manage the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

VALLEX has been very professional and serious. Once, we wanted to give their team a monetary bonus because we appreciated their work, and VALLEX helped us organize the distribution. They haven't done just the minimum required work; they've gone beyond the scope of work and worked overtime. VALLEX has really embraced the "You Build It, You Own It" culture, which is rare.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The problem was mostly on our side. We managed expectations badly and failedt o communicate our business values and how fast we needed them delivered. So, we occasionally had to cut their budget. We went back and forth with them on providing clean deliverables versus reducing the time to market.

OPUSm is focused on implementing Field Service Management solutions from SAP for industrial customers. The company was founded in 2014 in Switzerland, where its only headquarters are located. The sales activities are mainly focused on Switzerland and Germany.

For what projects/services did your company hire VALLEX , and what were your goals?

Vallex is developing a cloud-based integration to Outlook for us, which will be sold to customers as a standard solution.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

People who had worked with the managing director of Vallex and therefore knew him well described him as a competent and reliable partner and recommended the cooperation to me.

We already had close cooperation during the creation of the requirements, especially to clarify the technical feasibility. It was also important for us to focus on the "low-hanging fruits". Vallex then implemented our requirements and delivered the result on time and at the agreed cost.

two people were involved in the project. The project manager and a developer.

TCan you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As mentioned above, we received a reliable product on time, which we subsequently installed immediately at various customers. The cooperation was very pleasant.

The cooperation can be described like this: they're trustworthy and reliable with a fast response speed. There is no better way to imagine it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

After the requirements were fixed, things went very quickly and without too many queries. We received software that deserves the rating "tested".
