Luxoptica Image

Luxoptica

Luxoptica - the all-Ukrainian network of optical stores.

Goal: to create online optical shop that brings together a store and an ophthalmologist's office

Solution: We found the balance between the commercial part and the personal oculist function by creating the same quantity of shop and informational sections.

Non-standard banner grid allows placing both advertisements and additional services on plain sight. We looked into impressive brandbook of the company and recreated its corporate identity in the design.

Funduk Image

Funduk

The main goal: Instead of creating “unnoticeable” design we decided to accentuate the visuals. By using stylized elements, fun icons and a footer we made the online shop look complete and eye-catching. In order to make the search easy we used different types of navigation and a cross-linker.

Interesting products are placed in the separate block; each of them has information about rating, reviews, price,

characteristics, video reviews and others. It is simple and convenient to use because customers can see product details without navigating to another page.

pastel color palette

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?

We were looking for a UX designer to work with us on some projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve done several projects with us. The biggest project so far is for an app we are developing. We provide the specifications and they make mockups, and handle the UX design for it.

What is the team composition?

We have worked with three different designers, starting with a junior designer and working up to the current high-level designer.

How did you come to work with Turum-Burum?

A friend recommended them to me. I contacted them, and liked what I saw of their previous work. They started with a small project. I was happy with the collaboration, and we have continued working together.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $20,000–$30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in February 2019 and it’s ongoing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very punctual, and flexible. They take responsibility for their work, making corrections without any issue when needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the project manager and analyst of Singularex Inc., an IT services company located in Kharkiv, Ukraine. We have 11-50 employees, and we analyze big data by using predictive algorithms in order to help clients make data-driven decisions.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?

Our company has two departments, consisting of one in the US, and one where my team is located in Ukraine. We handle multiple analytical cases with images and various information. Our site was working slowly, and the image quality was also poor. Potential customers didn’t want to work with us because our site looked unprofessional.

We had several problems with our old website, including results visualization of our researchers, issues with graphics and images, as well as poor loading times. We were seeking advice and consulting on how to develop a cost-efficient website with increased speed while housing high quality content and images.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Turum-Burum designed our new website. They made it more user-friendly, and also found a solution for our image problem.

What is the team dynamic?

We worked with a single designer from Turum-Burum. We communicated via email and phone calls.

How did you come to work with Turum-Burum?

My US colleagues had tasked me in finding an agency based on Ukraine for financial reasons, and I found Turum-Burum on Dribbble. We'd previously met their team during an IT conference, and I’d also heard about them from a colleague. We ultimately decided to work together.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around February 2017, and the project lasted for about 1 week.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We currently have an easy-to-understand and responsive website. Visitors are now staying on the website for a longer amount of time than they were with the old design.

How did Turum-Burum perform from a project management standpoint?

They answered our questions quickly, and were good at understanding our needs. We had no issues, and the designer was professional, responsive, and made suggestions on how to improve the website. They delivered according to scope while keeping both the schedule and budget in mind.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Turum-Burum was able to translate our vague ideas into something more interesting and fitting for our sphere of analytics. They knew what decisions to make for the betterment of our company.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We had a very positive experience.

Through Turum-Burum’s involvement, each project met internal and external expectations as well as technical requirements. The team’s flexible organization, specialized skill sets, reasonable pricing, and strong deliverables continue to add value.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the marketing manager of Ubertesters.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Turum-Burum?

We were in the process of updating the site, as well as building landing pages for our events and creating a mobile app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have worked with Turum-Burum on 5–7 projects, including updates to our website and mobile app. They focused mainly on web design, UI/UX [user interface/user experience] tweaks, and frontend web development.

They provided skilled experts for the UI/UX part. We had a specific request from a client, and Turum-Burum helped us achieve it. From time to time, we will hire people with specific knowledge sets, and Turum-Burum’s team is skilled in UI testing. When we have relevant requests, we involve their company.

We generally have no more than 5–6 people from Turum-Burum’s team at the same time. Around 15 people from their side have taken part in our projects over time.

How did you come to work with Turum-Burum?

I received a reference from a colleague who had worked with them in the past.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost has been substantial.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Turum-Burum in November or December 2016. The latest contract ended 4–5 months ago. We get new projects from time to time and ask Turum-Burum to help us.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

How did Turum-Burum perform from a project management standpoint?

We wouldn’t have involved them in subsequent projects if they didn’t meet our expectations. We started the collaboration in 2016 and have continued because Turum-Burum does good work. We can send them technical specifications and receive several options as far as the overall approach. They provide managers and specialists who can also work with our own leadership.

We communicate via Skype, Phone, Viber, Slack, Trello, uTrack, Redmine, and Basecamp, depending on our and our clients’ requirements.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are quite good in terms of UI/UX design. This skill interested us, as we have managers on our side and needed some specific skill sets to help us close deals with UI testing or with specific items related to our own ongoing projects like websites and mobile apps. Turum-Burum has provided the right expertise and done everything we needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, everything has been quite good.
