The project involved the development of a mobile baseball scoring application, a team, coach, and player management portal, as well as a dashboard reporting system. The stages of the project were as follows: 

1. a. Planning and Requirement Gathering: We collaborated closely with Thinklogic's team to outline our specific needs for each component of the project. They demonstrated a deep understanding of our vision and translated it into a comprehensive plan. 
2. b. Upon reflection, I must admit that there were very few areas where Thinklogic could have improved or done things differently. Our experience with them was truly exceptional, and they consistently exceeded our expectations throughout the project.

I’m the senior communications advisor for the Writers Guild of America West, a union that represents TV, film, and media writers in the entertainment industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Thinklogic?

We needed to update our email system and redesign our website. Additionally, we needed help transitioning from a software-based CMS to a cloud-based one.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Thinklogic has worked on several projects for us. Initially, Thinklogic assisted us with web maintenance and technical support. As our needs increased, our relationship with Thinklogic has grown too. One of the first big projects we’ve worked on with Thinklogic was ensuring our emails got the best delivery rate. We used different email platforms, but none were as successful as we thought, and Thinklogic has developed a custom email platform for our organization. 

The second project we’ve worked on was our website’s redesign. We had a previous site that needed an update, and Thinklogic has completely redesigned and optimized it. Thinklogic has updated our site’s complete interface and developed it from scratch. They’ve helped us automate event listings and email invitations. Thinklogic has also expanded the information that members can search once they log in to their accounts by working with our IT department.

Additionally, we used a previous software-based CMS, and Thinklogic has helped us transition to a cloud-based one called Connected Apps. The new CMS allows our staff to edit and post original content on our page. 

Other projects that Thinklogic has developed for us are custom web-based tools. One of them is an RSVP tool for our events that automates the RSVP process. Thinklogic has also created a web creation tool for members that are running for union office. 

What is the team composition?

We usually work with 3–6 teammates from Thinklogic, including Chris (CEO) and a lead project manager. The project manager assembles a team depending on each project’s needs. 

How did you come to work with Thinklogic?

I believe we had a prior relationship with Thinklogic. We initially contacted them for managed IT services, and our relationship has grown since then.

What is the status of this engagement?

We have a long relationship with Thinklogic. We started working together in 2008, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thinklogic always meets our expectations. The custom email platform they’ve developed for us has been extremely successful. We used to get complaints from our members because they didn’t receive our emails, and we realized the emails went to their spam folders. With Thinklogic’s custom email solution, we haven’t had any of our previous issues — this is extremely important because we communicate with our members frequently. 

We had also received complaints from our members about our website, and since Thinklogic updated it, we’ve seen an increase in the site’s visitors. Our previous site was quite basic, and Thinklogic developed a more robust and user-friendly site — just the fact that our new homepage has a slider is an improvement.

The custom web tools that Thinklogic has developed have improved our operation too. We previously used a simpler RSVP tool, and the new solution developed by Thinklogic is more user-friendly. Overall, our internal IT department has a lot of confidence in Thinklogic, and that’s important for me. 

How did Thinklogic perform from a project management standpoint?

Thinklogic meets deadlines and stays on budget. Initially, we didn’t use project management tools, but now we use Asana. Thinklogic is responsive, and whenever there’s an issue, whether on our end or their end, we talk it through and haven’t had major problems. We communicate through Zoom meetings. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with Thinklogic’s staff expertise and talent. Chris is great at creating work teams and considers their staff’s personalities so they can work better. 

Moreover, Thinklogic provides excellent customer service and has adapted to all challenges we’ve had during our engagement.

I can’t think of anything for Thinklogic to improve — our relationship has been very productive.

Chatsworth Products (CPI), a U.S-based, global manufacturer of products and solutions that protect its customers’ ever-growing investment in information and communications technology for IT, wireless and industrial automation applications, first hired THINKLOGIC in 2000. At the time, CPI was about to enter a pivotal, tenth year in business, having seen rapid growth and demand for its expanding line of IT infrastructure products and solutions spread to all corners of the globe, including Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe. 

With this global reach and demand in mind, CPI turned to THINKLOGIC to provide technical guidance and expert web development services and on-going support in the implementation of CPI’s first, truly global website. 

This domain, built on a scalable, “WYSIWYG” (“what you see is what you get”) platform helped ensure that trained members of CPI’s burgeoning global marketing team could quickly and easily upload and maintain new site content, while closely collaborating with a dedicated support team from THINKLOGIC to continuously implement, enhance and help scale CPI’s overall web presence and user experience and web systems across multiple regions and languages (Spanish and Simplified Chinese as key examples among them).

Beyond geography, a number of deciding factors and criteria informed CPI’s search and review process. These included but weren’t limited to:

In 2019, we met to discuss the scope of the project and agreed on the plan to rebuild. We started working on one module at a time through that year and into early 2020. In the spring and summer of 2020, we increased the pace of development and finished many parts of the site. The first quarter of 2021 was spent finalizing several outstanding modules. We also started the massive and detailed job of migrating 20 years of data from the legacy site to the new site.

This was a daily process with fine tuning after each practice migration, for six to eight weeks prior to launch. We successfully launched the site - mid-pandemic no less - in April 2021. Most of the summer and fall of 2021 were spent managing immediate post-launch issues, resolving things like managing the cost of API’s and increasing our security protocols. Since then, we have retained Thinklogic to maintain and continuously improve the site.

Key Deliverables; Sitewide navigation and search, UX/UI designs and coding for all consumer modules, back-end coding for administrative portal, server hosting management.

There is one main project manager who draws in other team members as those skills are needed. Given the scope of the project, both parties did their best to work symbiotically. The size of the Thinklogic development and QA team expanded in the last two months prior to launch to meet our deadline. The lines of communication have always been open and they are responsive to our business needs.

The Thinklogic company culture is very special. In Thinklogic, we have found not only a reliable developer but a true partner. As you’d expect from a successful and stable software development firm, their employees are bright, experienced, and have an admirable work ethic.

We have four websites and were having logistical issues with our front- and backend systems, email outreach, credit card processing, and more. We needed to bring in outside development help.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Thinklogic provided web development services. The majority of the work has focused on customizing our backend. Our site filters hundreds of orders a day from multiple sites, which their team helped us centralize into one manageable system. They built this new backend from scratch, adding new features, such as improved payment processing and PDF mapping, that we thought would be beneficial to our customers.

As we continued to work with Thinklogic, we saw room for improvement in our frontend as well. Their team upgraded our WordPress theme and made changes to the site. Their team worked in Azure and SQL.

They’ve been good about delivering what we ask for. The new features they added are a huge help for both the internal team and our customers. Centralizing our backend has streamlined our workflow.

I know they’re juggling a lot of different clients, but whenever we reach out to them with something urgent, they get back to us right away. We appreciate that level of customer service, it’s why we’ve continued to work with them.

Like with any project, we understand that things take time so Thinklogic often provides us with a time range for when things will be completed. We often start with one idea and end up adding 5 new ones on top of it. Our teams keep open communication via Slack to make sure we’re on top of things. We also track the project in Asana and have regular check-in calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ability to learn on the job impressed us. They had no experience with what we do. It wasn’t their bread and butter, but they had the resources and intelligence to come up with solutions. Thinklogic is creative and innovative in the face of problems. They come up with realistic and affordable solutions.
