BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the director of business analytics team consisting of engineers and analysts. Our role is to provide business visibilities through large data analytics. My company is a national transportation company servicing all lines of supply chain network.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Think Luna, and what were your goals?

Our database is comprised of multiple silo mainframe system where we generate VBA routines to clean-up and generate workable database. For all analytical work, we spend a lot of time doing routine data clean-up and data prep before doing any work. Our goal was to find an automated solutions with the data clean-up and free-up those routine task times.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

A member of the Think Luna reached out to me, being an old affiliate. After discussing my challenges, Farhan provided me with a demonstration and a solution (proof of concept) on the screen. Farhan knew exactly what we needed and was able to conceptualize the solution on the spot.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

One member of my team received scheduled sessions with Think Luna through webinar meetings to go over the processes and coding challenges we faced. With the success of generating the Python script in automating some of our data collection process, we quickly adapted the PowerBI integration in the reporting side. Soon, the single member session turn to 3 member team sessions in tackling other automation processes.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

A dedicated project manager from Think Luna took all the initiatives as well as solutions development and delivery with my team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching the first data collection automation, we quickly realized its potential of Python scripting and expanded ALL data collection processes into Python. Data accuracy increased to 98% from 90% with NO person working on the data clean up.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had three weekly meetings to go over the challenges from the previous meeting, working on solutions from both sides and collaborating the solution. All meetings were done through webinar style (Google Meet & MS Teams most of the times)

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Extremely flexible and professional, provided an out-of-box solution to cater to our unique business practices.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing to really address here... my only wish was to have found out of Think Luna sooner.
