Please describe your company and your position there.
I am an undergraduate researcher at Stanford's Fuller Lab – a lab in the Chemical Engineering department.
For what projects/services did your company hire Techwards?
We hired Techwards to annotate data on a novel platform we created. Techwards staff needed to learn how to use the new platform, learn how to annotate the images we provided in a highly specific manner, and deliver in key milestones.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I selected Techwards through Toogit – another consulting service. Techwards' great pricing, English communication skills, and professionalism stuck with me.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The project entailed a) teaching Techwards staff how to use our annotation software b) working with Techwards staff to critique + improve their annotations and c) giving Techwards milestones to asynchronously contribute towards.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Their CEO was our main point of contact. He is extremely easy to work with, and communicates fast.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Working with Techwards has allowed us to annotate data in a cheap and cost-effective way – boosting our model's performance.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was extremely effective, and I had no issues working w/ the Techwards team.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I found the company's speed and organization to be unique. It is very hard to find a freelance annotator/IT provider with this level of professionalism and focus.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I can't think of anything they need to improve on.

Legacy Codebase Upgrade for Semiconductor Manufacturer

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm an engineering director at a prominent semiconductor manufacturer. I have teams in the US and India.
For what projects/services did your company hire Techwards, and what were your goals?
We inherited a legacy codebase that was not compliant with supported versions for Python and Angular. These needed to be modernized and updated.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
The engineers at Techwards actually had a relationship with our team and some had familiarity with the codebase. Also, they had the experience necessary in our particular tech stack to make the change.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Our codebase is > 10M lines of code, so it is a big effort to convert everything over. For Angular, there are many structural changes when converting from AngularJS so it's more than just hitting an "upgrade" button and validating. For python, there are many places in code that need upgrades in libraries first, change the syntax to support both, then update again, in a step-wise fashion.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with about 10 engineers on the techwards. They are all software engineers.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
This work helped free up a larger number of engineers to focus on other feature deliverables while keeping us up-to-date with the latest frameworks. This is a win for security and compliance.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We defined milestone deliverables together and tracked those in Jira. We meet every week to check on progress and remove any impediments.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The team is very responsive and willing to work with flexibility to achieve something that fits with our particular organization. When we had some challenges on our side with QA and verification we huddled together and figured out a better way to work as a whole.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Can't think of any
