Avid Prints Concierge is a spinoff from a parent company called TAC, an online gifting platform that focuses on Nigerians living in the diaspora that want to send gifts back home. Basically, we curate fruit and gift baskets for our clients.

What challenge were you trying to address with TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED?

We collaborated with TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED on building our e-commerce platforms, both on mobile and the web.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED developed our Android, iOS, and web e-commerce apps from scratch. The platforms allow users to order gifts, leave delivery instructions, and make secure payments. 

During the engagement, we wanted to use Paypal on our website and mobile apps, which isn’t a standard payment platform in Nigeria. We planned to use it primarily for our Diaspora audience, most of which have PayPal accounts. Security was a major concern because we’re asking people to put out sensitive information on our website. 

As a response, when we ask for payments, our platform will take the user to a secure external website to do the transaction. Once it’s completed, the user will be directed back to our platform, which was one of the key selling features implemented by the TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED team.

How did you come to work with TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED?

Previously, I was working with another extremely unprofessional developer when one of my staff members introduced me to TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED. The team showed me their past work and I wanted something similar replicated for my project.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost of the project was under $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED between June 2019–January 2020. Our goal was to ensure that we’d launch for Valentine’s Day which was the following month on the scheduled end date of our project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED was able to sort out the mess created by the previous developer and deliver a fully functioning website and app to us in less than six months. After having spent quite a lot, I met them when I was almost giving up. TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED understood what I wanted and was very reasonable in accommodating my needs.

When I market my product to customers, I’m quick to mention that it’s a fully digital platform. One of the key selling points for me is that customers can order from the comfort of their homes or cars. It’s been extremely easy for people to use and it’s especially helpful now given the pandemic. People no longer have to come to our office to place an order. It’s like we saw into the future and ensured that we were compliant even before the pandemic started.

Clients in the US and Canadian diasporas are especially happy with the platform. It’s already part of the culture for people in the Western world to buy things online. I frequent the US and I understand the feeling of convenience when making an order on the go. Another thing that stood out is the UI, it easily blends into the existing framework of our website. Additionally, whatever we upload to the web app can be seen on the mobile apps.

How did TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED perform from a project management standpoint?

They would come to my office for meetings before the pandemic. When there was a need, we used WhatsApp for audio or video calls, and we also used email.  TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED made a good effort in terms of project management but there was room for improvement. I’d rate them a 7.5/10 in this respect.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED brought back life into our project. I’d spent around $6,000 on the project unsuccessfully before they came in and they were able to turn everything around. I’ve developed a friendship with them and I can call them for business advice. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Technology is always evolving and I think they should continually research what’s new and bring it into the projects they’re running. TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED could improve on project management, cost, and delivery time.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I’d tell them to go for it. I find it easy to refer them to my friends without thinking about it twice. So far, I’ve referred two people to TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED since they developed my platform, and I haven’t received any complaints, the last one being in the past two months. That person is a childhood friend, and he hasn’t relayed any concerns about how TAGDEV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED is handling his project.
