I’m the executive director at Great Lakes Commission, a public agency that aims to protect the waters of The Great Lakes while enhancing their economic value through careful coordination and planning.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tactical Strategies, LLC?

We needed their team’s data management and development efforts.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tactical Strategies, LLC has designed and implemented solutions to build our basin-wide data management system for the entirety of The Great Lakes. They handle and process the big data we gather from communicating with state governors, legislators, private landowners, and other institutions and interested parties involved in this project — part of the data we collate and hand over to Tactical Strategies, LLC involves political strategies, needs assessments, and shared interests.

Apart from big data management, Tactical Stratecies, LLC has performed hardware management and upgrades for us, depending on our project needs. They’ve refurbished two of our outdated servers and migrated the existing data to our cloud system, which helped optimize our operations. Additionally, their team was in charge of getting any necessary messages across our project participants and compiling their responses and inputs.

Tactical Strategies has also built a web-based data management app that helped state policymakers explore our agency’s existing data and reach out to our stakeholders for any feedback. They’ve integrated a data indicator into the platform, which creates tailored reports for users.

What is the team composition?

I work with Rhonda (CIO), a videographer, and a logistics resource in charge of scheduling meetings and note-taking. 

How did you come to work with Tactical Strategies, LLC?

We posted a hiring ad for a CIO that we can onboard for this project. Tactical Strategies, LLC then reached out to us to promote their services and portfolio. Upon meeting their team twice and communicating our needs to Rhonda, we figured that they had the skillset and proactive approach I was looking for, so it was an easy decision for us to hire them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $50,000–$100,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We kicked off the engagement in August 2021, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our main success metric for Tactical Strategies, LLC’s work is their ability to deliver cost-efficient solutions that definitely upgrade our networks and equipment. They’ve produced deliverables that we haven’t been able to generate on our own, and those innovations have truly helped us obtain successful operations.

Tactical Strategies, LLC is highly capable of connecting with our diverse set of policymakers — their understanding of our policymakers’ needs allows them to flesh out relevant information, which we can integrate into our database. Overall, we have an interactive and satisfactory engagement with their team.

How did Tactical Strategies, LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly communicate via Microsoft Teams. Tactical Strategies, LLC is a communicative and proactive team that delivers precise solutions within quick turnaround times. They pay attention to the needs and requirements of our clients, and that helps them meet every deadline we set.
