I'm the founder of a platform that provides tools to help writers in different languages from all around the world create e-books, self-publish, and sell their works. Our products connect authors with their fans and followers to help them build a reputation and brand.

We wanted our mobile app to accommodate our readers within our own ecosystem to retain and drive more user growth.

The scope of work focused on creating native apps for Android and iOS to facilitate new user signups. Profiles include customized language and genre preferences. Our app allows users to browse available books and preview e-books. 

Once customers make a selection, they can place purchases via third-party payment gateways to download and read offline. Functional features include portrait and landscape orientation options and a variety of background colors, font sizes, and levels of screen brightness to choose.

What was the team composition?

The team included an Android developer and an iOS developer. The tech lead served as the project manager to drive the progress of the development.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our mobile app is available on both Google Play and the App Store. Along with an extensive curation of books in 10 different languages, the program offers multilingual customer support.  

Our apps host a wide array of product offerings. Fiction, poetry, and nonfiction texts range in genre from fantasy, thriller, humor, and romance and to self-help, motivational, technical, poetry, and literary criticism. The platform also sells comics, graphic novels, journalism, and anthologies.

Complimentary e-books are available for download, while paid options let customers read the first chapter for free. A simple two-click checkout process connects to a secure network through the popular Indian payment gateway, PayUMoney.    

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

My first point of contact was the founder of SystimaNX IT solutions Private Limited. He got his tech lead involved to help understand and agree to the business requirements. 

Later on, they introduced developers to code through the requirements. I was allowed to interact with the team directly. They called me to discuss any clarifications during the build stage.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was most impressed with SystimaNX IT solutions Private Limited’s professionalism. They adhered to the timelines and our budget agreements.

Are there any areas for improvement?

At one point, I felt like I was left alone to deal with their developers all by myself. In my opinion, the tech lead should have helped us bridge the gap between us by translating my needs into the developers' language.

The developers were so focused on meeting the deadlines that they rejected some of my requests. They couldn’t accommodate modifications to the scope during the development process. I think they should be more flexible and open to conversations.

I’m the CEO of AquaDrop, an order and delivery platform for pure drinking water. We help our area delivery partners automate their water business via online order aggregation, daily reports, watercan management systems, and optimized delivery routes. We wanted to design an application that any illiterate person could operate.

Proper structure and process management were admirable, along with documentation and tracking. They learned and adopted what was new and challenging.
