I am the CEO and co-founder of Student Works.

What challenge were you trying to address with Surya Tech, Inc. ?

We were having issues with interaction between the customer base and the student base. We couldn’t respond quick enough and were losing business. We wanted to streamline this process so that people can communicate quickly and effectively to get the job done.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

It all stemmed from a mobile app that students could download. Surya Tech, Inc. took care of mobile development. The app was cross-platform. It was built on Angular using Google Cloud, primarily on Firebase. MongoDB was involved as well.

The main feature was instant calling, once users got onto the site they can type what they’re looking for and it immediately pushes all relevant students. It calls them through the mobile app, enabling that speedy response time.

What is the team composition?

We had one main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Surya Tech, Inc. ?

We were in an initial rush and initiated the conversation. It was very clear that they had the understanding and were a good fit.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent £260,000 (approximately $300,000) USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Work began in June 2019 and is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had very good technical feedback thus far, hopefully it will eliminate this pain point. Anecdotally, we’ve had a fantastic response despite not being able to launch because of COVID-19.

How did Surya Tech, Inc.  perform from a project management standpoint?

They provided suggestions and weren’t afraid to listen to our suggestions. We had a great working relationship based upon mutual learning.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The speed at which changes have been made is very useful. We wanted a medium to long term partner, and that’s what they feel like.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When we began working they had a dedicated mobile app developer. They parted ways, and that slightly slowed development. It hasn’t had a huge impact, but that’s my only complaint.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take a hands-on approach. They work in a very agile manner and want constant interaction and feedback with their client. I really liked that; it was a real positive.
