Our Story

STUDIO X is a Norwegian development company based in Oslo and Sarpsborg, specialising in custom app development, system development and PWAs. With 25+ years of systems development experience in the team and more than 220 apps and systems delivered, we work with healthcare, public sector and B2B clients including Oslo University Hospital, DNB Eiendom and the City of Oslo. For us, success is a solution that is actually used every day. We measure it through adoption and usage after launch, whether the delivery matched the fixed price and scope we agreed on, and whether the client comes back for further development. More than 6,000 doctors are registered on one platform we built and operate, and several of our client relationships span many years. That is the kind of result we aim for.

We start by understanding the need, for larger projects through a short pre-project that defines scope. We then design the screens and flows, develop in one to two week sprints with a demo after each, test with real users, and handle App Store and Google Play publishing. After launch we offer an operations agreement covering monitoring, OS updates and further development. The same team follows the project from first meeting to operations.

Three things. We usually deliver at a fixed price, so clients know the cost before development starts. There are no handoffs: the people who design and develop the solution are the same people who operate it, and clients talk directly to the developers. And we combine a dedicated core team in Norway with a larger external team of 160+ developers, so we can scale when projects require it.

React Native and Expo for mobile apps, with native Swift and Kotlin where the project requires it. PWAs and web applications built on TypeScript, React and Next.js, with Postgres-based backends. We have delivered integrations against BankID, Vipps, the Brønnøysund Register Centre, Proff and a range of ERP, CRM and accounting systems.

Most of our projects range from focused MVPs to full app and system deliveries for healthcare, public sector and B2B clients. We usually decline simple template websites and standalone branding work, because custom development is what we do best. For programmes above roughly NOK 10 million with many parallel tracks, a large consultancy may be a better fit, and we say so honestly.
