What challenge were you trying to address with Softengi?

We had constrained resources internally, so we were looking for a good option to augment our internal development team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They work closely with our in-house team on the same sprint schedule, doing a lot of the development work in React. We provide them with the wireframes and, in many cases, a fully functional UI prototype. They're working off of the prototypes and our shared Jira account where they can see all the backlog items.

What is the team composition?

We have one main point of contact and they've assigned a team of 3–4 developers and a QA person to us.

How did you come to work with Softengi?

Someone from our company had worked with them previously and recommended them.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent over $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2018 and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They do quality work, so we plan to continue working with them. They're also great at identifying potential issues with the UI prototypes that we haven't even seen in the backlog.

How did Softengi perform from a project management standpoint?

We use scrum methodology. We started with an overall project-based approach with them, so we had a specific set of deliverables. After the first project, we decided to make them part of the sprint, so now they’re basically part of our team and take on more tasks. In addition to Jira, we use Shared Instance, weekly video conferences, and email to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We've been very pleased with the quality of their work and their responsiveness.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give them as much information about the project as you can. We shared our backlog, wireframes, and UI prototypes with them, so they could see what we were trying to do before we even started our development efforts.

What challenge were you trying to address with Softengi?

Softengi is a sister company of Volia based in Kiev, Ukraine. We primarily do custom development for web and mobile, among other tasks. We use some of Softengi’s staff for certain projects based on their skill levels and our needs.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their staff provides quality assurance, architecture, and custom development on occasion, primarily for weaving web technologies such as .NET. We have been using Softengi’s staff for about 15 years. Some of their resources have been involved in our projects for many years.

What is the team dynamic?

We've worked with dozens to just a handful of their team, depending on the project. At this time, we have a few of their people working on different projects.

How did you come to work with Softengi?

When Volia was founded, Softengi was already in existence. Primarily, they started with markets in Eastern Europe and then expanded to serving substantial U.S. customers. Our relationship is complementary to our work at Volia, so we don’t step on each other’s toes.

How much have you invested in them?

We have spent well over $1,000,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement started in August 2003, and the relationship is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The Softengi staff has been of the highest quality. There are no issues, and each person is talented. Year after year, their services are renewed by our clients. Their staff members have grown with us and our clients as well. Essentially, they are just an extension of our organization at this point.

How did Softengi perform from a project management standpoint?

Since our companies work closely together, Volia manages the projects and staff members on our team; however, we do work with their executive leadership. The communication has been tremendous. Igor [Account/Business Development Manager, Softengi] is our primary contact, and he and I started as business colleagues and have become friends. We communicate primarily through email, as well as through Skype and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Softengi does exactly what they say they will. To me, in the business world, this is exceptional and important.

Are there any areas they could improve?

From our standpoint, there’s nothing they need to fix.

We just launched.

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided quick updates. We communicate via, emails, Zoom/Teams, WhatsApp, Miro, Confluence and Trello

Their attitude to work and to deliver a satisfactory product. They were willing and patient enough to respond to our requests, even during holidays.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As was mentioned before, the web platform partially makes up the company's MVP. Its development was detrimental to the project. Currently there are no users yet due to the fact that the company has not started commercializing due to the regulatory limitations.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management and communication between Softengi's team and our team was effective. All tasks were done within the previously agreed timeframe.

Quality of work, responsiveness to the ideas by non-IT people, ability to efficiently and successfully realize ideas into a working product
