BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m CDO in Heimgard Technologies – one of the largest smart home providers in the Nordics. Our software is compatible with more than 2,000 products and brands and can be controlled through our app.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Sigma IT Poland?

We needed a team of engineers with Golang and Google Cloud skills to further develop our solution. We struggled to hire developers and needed flexibility, so we started looking for a nearshoring partner. We chose Sigma IT because they were able to provide us a team with niche competences with the seniority level and communication skills we were looking for.

It was not without significance that Sigma IT Poland as a part of the Swedish company - Nexer Group has extensive experience in cooperation with Scandinavian companies. And we were not disappointed. When another needs appeared we did not hesitate to extend our cooperation by engaging two more teams from Sigma IT: the C ++ team and Android team.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We chose this vendor because of recommendations and prior experience with Sigma IT within our company.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We were looking for a software company to help us develop our smart home management app. We needed a Partner who would deliver us with niche technological competencies such as Golang and with the right seniority level. The first project was related to implementing and integrating the external partner solution with our Home Control platform in Golang.

Currently, the project's scope concerns the development of application available to end-users, the development of the cloud part responsible for the exchange of data between smart devices and our application, and rewriting legacy parts of our code base from Python to C ++.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We currently work with 3 teams (3 C++ dev, embedded developers, 1 Android developer, and 1 Golang developer with Google Cloud.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They help us develop app that make us the largest smart home provider in the Nordics. We are satisfied with our 2-year cooperation. Not without significance is that Sigma IT Poland, as a part of the Swedish company - Nexer Group, has extensive experience in collaboration with Scandinavian companies.

They know how to cooperate with companies from this region. We do not experience communication or cultural differences problems, and we do not feel the distance or remote work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

During development their developers have been incorperated as parts of our team with great success. In addition we have had monthly follow up with Sigma IT to iron out any issues.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They do a great job; they deliver expected results without making problems or being annoying. We are satisfied with the results and high-quality work. From the beginning of our cooperation, we could notice the high technological competencies of the team members and their high communication skills.

We appreciate their proactive approach and willingness to understand and solve our problems. We can fully trust them, which is essential when working with an outsourcing partner.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, we are very happy with the cooperation.
