Seeed designed and built a custom headless commerce platform for us from the ground up, migrating us off our legacy system onto a modern, scalable stack built around Medusa. Key deliverables included the platform architecture, storefront design, and full product catalog migration, with a backend our team can own and maintain going forward. They worked closely with us throughout to fit the platform to our operations rather than a generic template.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is ongoing, but progress so far has been strong and milestones have been met on schedule. We're moving off our aging legacy system onto a modern headless platform, and what we've seen so far points to a faster, more flexible foundation that our team will be able to manage and extend in-house. Our full product catalog and pricing are being carried over in the process, and we're expecting a system far better aligned to how our business actually operates once we're live.

Project management has been organized and easy to work with. They've delivered milestones on schedule and communicated clearly throughout, and on the occasions we've raised changes or new requirements mid-stream, they've been responsive and quick to adapt rather than treating it as a disruption. Communication has been a real strength - we hear back promptly and always know where things stand.

What's stood out most is how they approach problems. Rather than handing back the easiest answer, they dig into what we're actually trying to solve and come back with practical solutions, often proposing scalable, out-of-the-box approaches we hadn't considered. That combination of genuine responsiveness and forward thinking has made them feel more like a partner than a vendor.

Nothing major to flag. As with any custom build there's a lot of back-and-forth to get details right, but they've handled that well - so no real complaints on our end.

One of my largest clients in the festival space was facing a critical challenge: we didn’t have a cashless solution that met their operational needs. This is particularly important in this industry, where event organizers need a seamless way for attendees to load funds and pay without cash, typically through wristbands or cards using QR codes or NFC. 

On top of that, the current gift card system created significant operational friction. The process is entirely manual: for example, to create 100 gift cards, the team has to generate them one by one, receive 100 separate emails, open each one, extract the QR code, and then manually compile an Excel file to manage them. This workflow is not only inefficient but also not scalable for large-scale events like festivals. 

Thanks to Seed, we were able to turn this situation around. By leveraging Square’s gift card open APIs, they built a fully customized solution tailored to this client’s needs. This solution enables much more efficient generation and management of gift cards, effectively allowing them to be used as a cashless system: attendees can top up their balance and use their QR codes to pay throughout the event. 

The outcome has been very positive. The client is actively using the solution, their operations have significantly improved, and they are very satisfied with the flexibility it provides.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project delivered clear and measurable improvements in both operational efficiency and client satisfaction. 

First, it significantly reduced manual workload. What previously required creating and managing gift cards one by one (including handling hundreds of emails and manually compiling QR codes) was streamlined into a much more scalable and automated process. This saved considerable time and reduced the risk of human error. 

Second, it enabled the client to successfully implement a functional cashless workflow. Attendees are now able to top up balances and use QR codes to pay during the event, which was not possible before. This directly improved the on-site payment experience and operational flow. 

Third, adoption has been strong. The client is actively using the solution in real scenarios, demonstrating that it meets their needs and integrates well into their operations. 

Finally, client satisfaction has notably increased. The client has expressed strong positive feedback, particularly around the flexibility and customization enabled by the solution built with Square’s gift card APIs. 

Overall, the project transformed a critical gap (lack of a cashless solution) into a working, scalable system that is now delivering real value in production.

The project management was highly effective throughout the entire process. Seed demonstrated strong organization, clear communication, and a proactive approach from the beginning. 

They delivered key milestones on time and maintained a consistent pace, which was critical given the urgency of the client’s needs—especially with upcoming festival timelines. Whenever there were dependencies or potential blockers, they communicated them early and worked collaboratively to find solutions. 

In terms of responsiveness, they were very attentive and flexible. They took the time to fully understand both our needs and the client’s operational challenges, and they adapted quickly as requirements evolved. Their ability to leverage Square’s gift card APIs and translate those into a tailored solution showed both technical expertise and a strong customer-first mindset. 

Overall, they were reliable, responsive, and solution-oriented, making them a strong partner throughout the project.

What I find most impressive about this company is their ability to adapt quickly and effectively. Whenever I bring them a problem, they immediately start working on a solution and come back with thoughtful, practical approaches tailored to the client’s needs. 

They also stand out for how human and genuinely committed they are. They don’t just act as a technical partner—they truly care about the success of the projects and the clients behind them. This level of dedication makes a big difference. 

I would especially highlight Rowland, who has been incredibly supportive throughout. The team has helped me tremendously with my clients and continues to do so. I genuinely have only positive things to say about them.

At this stage, I don’t have any areas for improvement to highlight. I’m very happy with the collaboration and the results delivered. This website was to leverage a private (alpha) API that would eventually be built into a product that our comapny offered, but was not available yet. We wanted it to be spun up quickly, in line with customer expectations, with an extremely high level of security.

What challenge were you trying to address with Seeed?

We deal with a lot of different technologies online to facilitate the sales of our products. We needed help in utilizing the latest technologies to maximize our conversions.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Seeed helped us migrate from WooCommerce to BigCommerce. They also helped us migrate hundreds of thousands of orders in that process. The entire process involved a lot of heavy lifting and database mapping, which they did an impeccable job of.

I still have Seeed on a maintenance contract, so we still work together on an as-needed basis.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with six people from Seeed, including developers, the owner, and a project manager. The developers were responsible for different things: one is responsible for the subscription service that they've developed, another has intimate knowledge of the WordPress WooCommerce platform, and another has big commerce platform experience.

How did you come to work with Seeed?

I was introduced to Roland (Owner) many years ago — we met at the Internet Retail conference in Chicago. We had a great conversation, and we both saw an opportunity for collaboration.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I've seen a significant improvement in our platform's speed and ease of use, which effectively streamlined all our internal processes and solved the main issue that I had with the previous platforms that I was on. Seeed has also done a great job of making everything as simple as possible for our customers and us.

How did Seeed perform from a project management standpoint?

Seeed has performed well in terms of project management. They’re excellent at meeting deadlines and managing our expectations. Any time I need anything at all from Seeed, I've got instant communication with their whole team via Slack. I just need to drop things into Slack, and the appropriate person will hop on to help me, whether it's related to the e-commerce platform or it's related to a server issue, a subscription issue, or a checkout issue.

Overall, what I've experienced from Seeed is that they are at my service, and that's how they treat all their clients, from what I’ve experienced.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Seeed’s timing and ability to address issues as they come up are impeccable. I also appreciate the many different ideas from the Seeed team that I didn’t even know were possible — they opened my eyes to so much more possibilities and helped me find the best possible scenarios for my sites.

For example, we could have gone with other platforms, but the BigCommerce platform seemed to suit our needs better than any other one out there. Seeed's assessment brought that to light, and I can already see the pitfalls of the other platforms that they had suggested I avoid.

No, I have no complaints.

The more detailed the spec you can hand them, the better your end product is going to be. Make sure that you think thoroughly through the spec that you're presenting. I found that Roland is a solid listener, and he will find things that you haven't addressed.
