I’m the managing director of And Then Associates. We’re a branding agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with By the Scruff?

We brought them on for web development services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked on three major projects. In all those cases, they’ve created websites for businesses that have rebranded. They work alongside my creative directors to produce new and robust websites that do justice to the branding designs we’ve developed.

For one of our clients, they handled a standard organization. We had to deal with a lot of complex content that needed to be clearly signposted for a range of different users. Their team also worked with our client’s existing data providers to integrate various sources of data, and so forth, to ensure that it gave a full and comprehensive view of what each individual user would need to know. After the sites are built, they handle ongoing management, hosting, and support.

What is the team composition?

We work directly with Stuart (Founder & Director), and he has a team behind him.

How did you come to work with By the Scruff?

I worked with Stuart at another agency. At that agency, I specifically sought out a good WordPress developer that was local to us. By the time I set up my current agency, I had done a lot of work with Stuart. In fact, his involvement was a key part of me setting up a new agency. Stuart was my top choice. There’s a lot of trust in our working relationship.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested roughly £50,000 (approximately $68,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement started in March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been vital to our company. By the Scruff takes something that appears to be complicated with lots of smoke and mirrors around it and deals with it in a straightforward and practical manner. They produce work that both my client and internal team like.

I completely trust them with my clients. They have face-to-face contact with my clients, and I’m comfortable with that. Stuart looks after them properly and takes the responsibility for the work to ensure it’s good. By the Scruff is fundamental to what we do.

How did By the Scruff perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through video calls, phone calls, and emails. Once we’re into a project, we use Basecamp to manage it through to completion. It’s nice because it allows all of our back-and-forth comments to be in one place. Overall, their project management style is efficient. They’re easy to deal with and responsive. By the Scruff is a pleasure to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Stuart is very calm. Oftentimes, deadlines can be a high-pressure time but Stuart always remains composed. He’s very pragmatic and finds solutions that aren’t overly complicated. Stuart is agreeable, and I feel that he wants to do the very best job he possibly can.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind. If there’s ever a problem, they find a solution to it.
