Our website is built on custom Wordpress and over the years had added a lot of code and features that were of varying degrees of use to our audience. Our company has hired Salt Technologies on an ongoing basis to conduct various activities that help us serve our users better such as - improve website speed, eliminate redundancies, improve the UX, collect user data and build new offerings for our visitors that will also help us better monetize their presence on our platform.

I asked fellow entrepreneurs as well as industry tech experts for referrals and interviewed 4 teams as part of the process. What made us decide in favour of Salt was that they demonstrated the ability to think of technology in the context of business problems and not as a standalone.

The scope of work is ongoing; hence the process used is a Sprint method where the key issues & steps for each fortnight are detailed and Jira used to communicate and track the progress. Technologies used are Wordpress, PHP and some degree of Linux server management.

Overall outcomes have been in terms of improvements in website speed and performance as well as shorter time to fix various bugs that have entered the system over the years.

We hired them to help us redesign our website. Our goal was to enhance our brand awareness and generate more leads.

What was the scope of their involvement?

After defining the scope and direction of our project, their team presented us with some compelling concepts for the design of our existing website. They then put together a project plan, covering the front and backend changes that needed to be implemented. We worked together on the whole layout and design of our site, as well as re-working the content.

We’ve already relaunched the new website in May 2020, and they are currently providing maintenance efforts and continue to make enhancements or any additional changes as needed.

We work directly with the CEO & founder of their company, including a project manager. We also work with different developers and designers throughout the project.

After relaunching our new website, we’ve noticed an improvement in our rankings for several related keywords — in fact, some have made it into the top five. We’ve also managed to maintain a top ranking for our already existing keywords.

They’ve been a very good partner in this regard. We communicate directly with their project manager regularly and hold weekly meetings via Microsoft Teams. We also interact through email.

We’re most impressed with their ability to produce work that aligns with our vision. They also come up with different ideas to improve what we’re currently doing, which has stood out to us as well.

Are there any areas they could improve on?

We’ve started working with them in other areas, such as graphic design, but the process has been a little bumpy. That being said, they should ramp up their team to ensure a smoother process.

Make sure to set your objectives and tasks clearly and be open to their recommendations.

I am the founder of the company called Bagsease. We are a paper bag manufacturing company located in Maharashtra, India. We have a full fledged manufacturing setup where we produce custom paper bags as per our customer’s requirements.

The final website was pretty satisfactory to us. I can safely say that, our website was best in the industry we work in. No one else had such kind of grand presence then and even now.

The overall coordination was quite cohesive. Both the teams gell very quickly with each other. We used to visit the office as and when they needed and solved all the gaps in those meetings so as to avoid any misunderstanding and delay.

Their in-depth knowledge of how the business sites are created and ability to optimize our site's ranking is amazing.

I believe, the process is something they can improve further to make everything documented and accessed via central login.

Salt Technologies is helping us build and optimize a new website based on WordPress from the ground up. Our current website is quite broken, and Salt has been doing a lot of work to get it stable and functional, including implementing a cleaner architecture and integrating new features.

Right now, they’re guiding us through the wireframe and creative process, and the end result for the product would be to help build awareness and improve our efforts in demand generation.

Another big thing for us is a more streamlined HubSpot build, so we don’t want a lot of widgets and aftermarket add-ons — we’d rather keep it seamless to speed up our process.

I believe they use JIRA to manage the entire process, and we typically communicate through Google Meet and email.
