Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Director of Gokyo Labs Pvt Ltd and look after the company's operation, software deployment, and support. The company aims to operate software that is useful to automate and digitalize various business processes in the banking, insurance, and corporate sector.

The automated reconciliation software - Gokyo Reconciler, developed by Rara Labs and operated by us is being used by more than ten commercial banks, insurance companies, telecom companies, and fintech.

For what projects/services did your company hire Raralabs, and what were your goals?

The project was undertaken to develop a custom software - Gokyo Reconciler, an automated data matching application. The software ‘Gokyo Reconciler’ was developed with the objective to automate the reconciliation process and activities of the banking, insurance, and corporate sectors.

Automation in the account reconciliation process helps companies to centralize their control functions, improve monitoring, reduce operational costs, increase productivity and efficiency, improve accessibility, data security improves, and reduce audit risks and costs.

The product was developed in platform approach and the same could be used for other data matching use cases viz. integration audit, data quality checks, data migration, and revenue assurances. The platform is designed and developed to be able to configure, requiring minimum technical efforts, during deployment & operation.

SOLUTION

How did you select Raralabs and what were the deciding factors?

A friend recommended Rara Labs for software development. We contacted Rara's CEO & CTO and briefed them about the requirement, they immediately understood the software's overall objective, which impressed our management team, and the project development agreement was finalized.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The intended software was developed as a rule-based reconciliation software and designed to be simple and hence requires very less manual intervention from the end-users and complies with the minimum-security standards.

The product is plugin based and scalable & extendable. Gokyo Reconciler automatically fetches the data from the source, reconciles the matched transactions, and provides a recommendation on a possible reconciliation for the unreconciled transactions.

Workflow can be designed for unreconciled items so that the end-users can prioritize the unreconciled items, follow up based on priority, and maintain an activity log of these activities.

The following principles were followed by Rara Labs during the product development: Customer Involvement, Incremental Delivery, People not process, Embrace Change, and Maintain Simplicity.

Gokyo Reconciler is built on a three-tier architecture with Database Layer, Business Logic Layer, and Presentation Layer. It PostgreSQL v 11.4 as the database server. The business layer is developed in Python and Golang. The presentation layer is built on React Framework using Javascript, HTML, and CSS.

How many people from the Raralabs team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 7 members in the core team, including two project managers, a designer, three senior developers, and one junior developer. Additional team members were included as and when required during the product design & development phase.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were able to release the initial working version of the product before the expected deadline. The software was immediately deployed in a commercial bank in Nepal and was successful.

We discovered that Rara Labs focuses on functional software rather than comprehensive documentation and involves the customer as a superior approach to developing software.

This results in the software development process go more smoothly with client interactions and faster responsiveness to modifications for more precise end products. Trello and Spread Sheets were used for project tracking and Slack is being used for communications.

The team's expertise, experience, and understanding of the business committed to quality and timelines were notable. Also, Communications Customer focused

None to the extent of our understanding and experience.

We planned to develop a cloud-based accounting system for small businesses here in Nepal. We hired Rara labs for overall architecture of the system and development of first version of the software

First, we discussed the features and function of the software, then the design team made some mockups then the backend and front end team started development. Technology Used: PostgresSql for database, Golang as backed language and react as front end language

The project was completed on July of 2022, and we were live immediately, Rara labs helps us go live and resolved the immediate issues

Their project manager was a fun person, we used Trello for tracking deadlines and tasks and slack for communication

I had an opportunity to work directly with their team at their place.

I would suggest them to work more on documentation.
