The application uses Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality to seamlessly integrate with internal sub-systems and external 3rd-party platforms such as Canny, Thinkific, and HubSpot Knowledgebase.

The project aims at the development of an interactive web application, AREScloud, for the analysis of genomic sequencing data. The web applications shall interact with validated bioinformatics pipelines, powered by AI and the proprietary reference database ARESdb, to comprehensively type and characterize microbial pathogens, and to explore outbreaks and transmission events. 

Key deliverables include:

Project progress is tracked using an agile framework. The product owner of AREScloud, together with the team, has released several incremental version updates of the web application during the course of the project. The web application is in commercial use.

Our product is an artificial intelligence-based quality control system. We process big amounts of data from the production site for our models to predict errors. Several different software systems in different programming languages need to work together from on-premise solutions into software system in the hybrid cloud. We first started working with 1 full-stack developer. I was impressed with his skills, the ease he picked up the new technologies and solutions he offered. So later we increased the team to 3 developers and a QA. So, technological engineering, implementation, bug-fixing and QA automation in backends and frontends are some of the deliverables.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Though the work is still in progress, I’m happy with the results so far. We’ve managed to release a few key features recently and I’m really enjoying the velocity we’re having with Radency. There hasn’t been anything they can’t do.

The engineers and developers of Radency are integrated in our own team of engineers, developers and DevOps engineers. We mostly communicate via Slack and Gitlab issues as well as Jira.

Radency has a training/certification program for software engineers that allows them to find top talents. They take people who know how to write code and polish them tech-wise, giving them knowledge of best practices and hands-on experience in building complex projects. I work with a couple of graduates from this program, the quality of their work is outstanding.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We are currently happy with the collaboration with Radency. Minor improvements are always resolved directly with the management of Radency.

I'm the CTO of a company that provides geographical information and analysis as a service for Local Authorities in the UK to make informed planning decisions involving the general public.

We are a start-up that has established itself well enough to require an infrastructure and code-base that scales. Up until now we have been making copies of the code-base and customising them for each client. We needed to create a single, unified code-base that could be configured for each customer in such a way that they can define the configuration themselves.

We found them through referral. We reviewed several potential vendors and Radency offered significant value for money. It was clear that they had the experience and availability we needed.

Our solutions are based in the Google Cloud Platform. Front-ends are written in React, with backends in Node.js. There is a great deal of complicated analysis undertaken with Postgres and Geoserver. Radency has taken a fragmented code-base and created a unified, multi-tenant solution. In addition to creating client-specific solutions to a very tight deadline they have helped us remove significant technical debt and craft a self-service product enabling us to engage with many more clients at greatly reduced cost.

We have had a core team of 3 up until now, consisting of a project manager and two full-stack developers. We are so happy with how Radency has performed that we are about to engage a further 2 full-stack developers, starting next week.

Not only have we managed to meet client expectations, but clients have thanked us for the rapid and responsive manner in which we have produced their solutions. This is largely due to the competency and work ethic of the Radency team. They have worked in very difficult conditions (both professionally and personally) and have never failed to meet the deadlines we have imposed.

Project management is excellent. The Radency team has integrated seamlessly with our core team. We keep in touch through regular stand-ups, retrospectives and Slack.

The Radency team has never failed to deliver to extremely high standards despite some unique and sometimes dangerous circumstances. Despite the war in Ukraine and the fact that several members of the team had to relocate at very short notice for their personal safety they have nonetheless been nothing short of exemplary in their professional approach.

CEO and Founder. Our company is a climate tech start-up aiming to help tackle the climate crisis by promoting low carbon-electric travel, and nature-based tourism.

We are a new start-up that formed partnerships to develop and pilot a new web app for low carbon travel and nature based tourism in regions of Scotland. We needed to scale up the team quickly to deliver - Radency was able to work with our existing team to successfully accelerate development and design of our pilot web app.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched online and met with several different development companies. However, Radency had came recommended to us and were able to start work on the project immediately which was very important for our delivery.

We held a kick-off meeting to discuss our objectives, introduce to team and discuss development so far. We mapped out project development priorities.

The team further developed our web app building on our wireframes and new designs to create a full responsive web app. We then worked with designer to enhance design, iconography, aesthetics for web and mobile, and improve UX/UI.

The development team built additional features that aligned with our goals and to improve usability. We are migrating data from firestore to another platform. The team responded to testing and bug fixes when needed. They were able to merge changes appropriately when needed. They also worked to optimise data download to significantly improve and stabilize the app.

Stakeholders are very impressed by the functionality and aesthetics of our new pilot product web app. Especially given tight project timescales.

We had 3 stand-ups a week with the full technical team. We arranged individual meetings with Radency team as and when needed. The team were always available to deal with any urgent issues. We used Trello to keep track and prioritize tasks and also used slack which worked really well with our team.

They gave us a fantastic webapp that is getting very good feedback from partners, stakeholders and users. The team were able to advise on technical solutions, communicate well and work quickly. They also were able to help and respond whenever there were urgent tasks required.

We don’t have any metrics on an individual basis but we work closely together with Radency, and the speed at which they deliver their tasks is extremely high.

They’re very organized from a project management standpoint and their internal communication is very consistent, since they’re always updated on the progress of the project.

We use JIRA to manage the project, and Slack for our interactions.

We’re impressed with their ability to fully onboard a new developer quickly and efficiently. When somebody joins their projects, that means they’ve already been well integrated into their internal process so it's been a smooth transition as a result.

I wouldn’t change much about the process because they’re able to meet my needs in terms of availability and the type of work I’m requesting them to do — they deliver without any pushback or concerns.

The best approach is to be open and share the immediate task at hand, as well as the bigger picture of the project.

We work with sport organisations which represent or manage a lot of athletes. Part of our offering is to offer commercial solutions and services that leverage and optimise these network of athletes. To do just that, we hired Radency to create a database which would give us a complete view of all the athletes within an organisation.

We asked people we knew for recommendations and someone recommended Radency. We also looked for candidates on TopTal. We interviewed with several agencies and several candidates.

Radency was the best option for us. I personally liked that they took the time to understand our project and ask questions before confirming they could do the job and sent us a proposal. Other candidates spent limited efforts in answering us and just sent us a quote.

We set up a Discord server where we communicated on a daily basis. At the end of each day, Radency would send us a written recap on the main channel. Project timeline, questions and feedback was shared on Google sheets. Progress was tracked on Trello. We had weekly calls set-up.

They really took the time to understand our project and asked the right questions, some that we hadn't thought of asking ourselves. They were very flexible and available.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Because our project was very specific and required a bit of an understanding of sports (to understand player positions, transfer rules...), there was a quick learning curve for them to understand what the data actually meant.

The outcomes were very positive. The work quality was excellent and developers/designers received feedback well and implemented any requested changes promptly

Most of the communication tool place on Slack, Jira, and Zoom. We connect daily to discuss the ongoing tasks and go over the work queues for a given day and week. Then we discuss larger goals concerning monthly software release and implementation

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Team experience and skills. They really knew what they were doing, and the work quality was superb.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Things are being developed almost too fast - a good problem to have so the team should slow down and reflect on what's being built against known requirements. Pay more attention to software usability and little things that the end-users may notice

I’m the product manager at RevOps, a small organization of about 15 people. We build software for sales and revenue operations. Our primary focus is on solutions that allow sales teams to quickly and easily create sales agreements and order forms. That way, they can also easily go through deal desks, approval processes, and adoptions, where the deal is turned into a PDF that can be shared and signed with customers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Radency?

Hiring was hard for us over the past years. Our team was small, and our customers were asking us to develop and deliver many features. As a result, we had a hard time hiring new developers.  

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In the beginning, we asked for one developer from Radency to help us lead projects. We told them about the skills that we were looking for, and then they connected us with two people. That kicked off the first project that they worked on with us. 

From there, we continued the relationship and brought more people on board. We had an integration-based project with HubSpot, so we hired two more backend developers from Radency. One of them was a senior engineer and the other was a level-three developer. They helped build the initial architecture of this integration project, and we paired them with people from our team who understood our product. 

We reached a point where Radency didn’t have many people available to work on projects with us. As a result, they hired a couple of people on their team. Then, we started working with those people and moved them around projects.

For their present workload, we start by requesting front- and backend development help. For the backend engineers, we specifically ask for teammates that understand Python programming. On the frontend, we need someone proficient in React. Radency resources also help us with tests, ensuring that our products pass such tests.

We closely work with four developers from Radency. Apart from them, we also interface with a project lead that helps us unlock and manage developers. That person oversees their site.

How did you come to work with Radency?

When we were reviewing the needs of our product development team, we decided to hire an external team outside the US to help us keep up with our growth. Our CEO and co-founder knew Kate (Co-Founder & COO), and I was brought into the project when our co-founder was ready to pull the trigger. Then, we jumped on a call with Kate, and getting along with her was easy. I also liked their philosophy and approach. As a result, we decided to bring in 1–2 people from their team into our projects as a test. From there, we continued the engagement.

We invest an average of $10,000–$30,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The way we work with Radency is project-based, and their strength lies in integrations or the way we connect two services together. They’ve done a number of integration-based projects, and they've proven to be strong engineers. In fact, they’ve finished our first integration project quickly within a tight timeframe. That’s great because, for a small startup like us, it’s not easy to know what’s going to work or not; fast iterations are important.

How did Radency perform from a project management standpoint?

The language barrier is always a challenge. As a result, we figure out ways where we can play with Radency’s strengths so that we can work with them on projects. Sometimes, we show them videos or use written communication. This has been mutually beneficial for both of us and general project management. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Radency works quickly, and we can be hands-off with them. As long as we create a video cluing them in for what we want, they can pick the workload up and deliver. That’s the best part of working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Figuring out ways to better communicate with us would be useful. As a product manager, it’s hard for me to gauge what’s happening with them because of the language barrier. On top of that, the time difference between our teams can also be a problem. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Do videos or written communications where you can show Radency what you want them to do. It’s so much easier for them to watch and rewatch such videos because of the aforementioned language barrier. You can also write down a checklist of the tasks you want them to complete. That will be highly valuable for them.
