We engaged Orbit29 to help us improve our cancer support services for small and medium-sized businesses. Our goal was to make it easier for these businesses to find and access cancer support for their people, and to ensure that they have the ability to self-serve via our website.

Orbit29's initial priority was to design and develop an MVP within five weeks, which included a sign-up page with different package options, a members area for resources, and payment integration with Stripe. They followed a rigorous process of user journey design, flow definition, and development and testing using Hubspot CMS. Orbit29 did an excellent job of managing the project and communicating with us throughout the entire process.

They used Slack for day-to-day communications and Notion for documentation, and we are proposing using Linear for future phases of work to track design and delivery. Their product manager was exceptional at managing various stakeholders in the organization and third parties. We also appreciated their personable approach, which made working with them a pleasure.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed by Orbit29's deep understanding of how to design and develop products in the health sector, especially those related to cancer and mental health. They demonstrated an ability to balance the MVP needs with shaping longer-term strategic opportunities.

We also found their team capabilities and pedigree to be impressive and they were able to hit our desired outcomes and outputs. They were able to tie everything back to the impact or outcomes we are trying to have for our users and business.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Orbit29 could have done differently?

Overall, we were extremely pleased with Orbit29's work. We look forward to continuing partnering with them and would highly recommend them to others.

I am the CEO of a company that offers evidence based products and services to improve wellbeing.

For what projects/services did your company hire Orbit29, and what were your goals?

We wanted updates to our gratitude practice based app Gratitube. Orbit29 were tasked with updating our UI designs and fixing a couple of bugs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had known one of the founders through an entrepreneurial community and was impressed with the vision that Orbit29 set out whereby they wanted to work with organisations that were in the social good/wellbeing space.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We had series of meetings initially to detail out the scope of the project and define the objectives and timelines. We provided access to the existing version of our app. Within a few weeks, we were presented with the first round of UI designs. The team then took on board our feedback and made rapid iterations. Before launching, we ran the app through beta testing.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Jay, founder, was our project manager. He was available and excellent at communicating. We also worked with Suf, another founder, and James, the full stack developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Within 2 months of our app launching on the app store we received several 5 star reviews. A lot of the comments were focused on the design and ease of use of the app - both of which Obrit29 had a massive hand in.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The project manager Jay provided us with frequent updates via emails and video calls, quite often with other members of the team present. Everything was delivered on time. The communication from all the team members was truly excellent/

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were clearly experts in mobile app development and had a very progressive UI/UX ideas. This was our first mobile app and they were very patient and great at guiding us through the process.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The team was spread across various time zones. Ideally it would have been good if there was a bit more flexibility about timings of meetings.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the global director of digital health for a foundation that raises funds and delivers programs to support men's health — especially for those who’re going through prostate and testicular cancer or may be facing challenges to their mental health.

What challenge were you trying to address with Orbit29?

We were looking to get some product management support for our digital health portfolio to allow us to drive growth, acquisition, and further development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve had three phases with Orbit29, starting with contracting a project manager to support one of our mental health programs. The second phase is to support a product in the testicular cancer space, and it involved designing a survivorship support website for men going through the journey of testicular cancer.

They took the time to redesign and re-imagine the branding around that product and accelerated its evolution into its current form. 

What is the team composition?

We initially worked with Sufiyan (Co-Founder) but most recently, we’ve been working with Jay (Co-Founder).

How did you come to work with Orbit29?

We decided to hire them based on their exceptional experience, high-quality work, and personable approach. Orbit29 was quick to establish a really good rapport and trust with our team because of their credibility.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent upwards of $200,000 AUD (approximately $134,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing collaboration started in June 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had exceptionally great feedback from team members who’ve both worked with Sufiyan and Jay, and we’ve relied on their experience and knowledge to add significant value to our products.

They’re able to meet and exceed every KPI we set for our products and attract and convert many users who visit our site.

How did Orbit29 perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve never had a problem with Orbit29 in regards to adhering to timelines despite being in a different time zone. They’re able to make our schedule work for them and are very punctual when it comes to meetings and delivering their tasks.

We use JIRA to manage the project and typically communicate through Zoom and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Orbit29 has been instrumental in helping us improve our operations and how we manage our products, so we’re very impressed with the leadership they brought to the partnership.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There aren’t any areas where there were any shortcomings or where they’ve underperformed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to allow them to have the flexibility and freedom to drive growth, because they have the capability and credibility to deliver.
