the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of HR at a gift card marketplace. We’re a platform where people can sell gift cards they don’t want so others can use them. Our company is in the process of transitioning into a digital wallet.
What challenge were you trying to address with NG Logic?
Our company was already working with NG Logic even before I joined. We needed them to augment our engineering staff.
What was the scope of their involvement?
NG Logic provides us with additional software engineering resources to work on our projects. The resources work on various software engineering areas. They use Java and Golang to work on our apps. We have two mobile apps and a website. The team develops features for each of the apps while building out our website for our partners.
What is the team composition?
The team composition has varied over the years. Most recently, we’ve worked with 6–8 teammates.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
The engagement started before I joined the company, but our former CTO may have found NG Logic.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $2 million–$5 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our company started working with NG Logic in December 2018, and the partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
NG Logic has been instrumental in our success; we couldn’t have accomplished all of our projects without them. They’re deeply involved in all of our initiatives from developing apps to building our website.
Moreover, I’ve had great relationships with the owner and team members of NG Logic. They’re always responsive, professional, and collaborative — we’ve had a great working experience.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re great at meeting all of our project requirements. Their resources are highly cooperative and collaborative. We typically communicate via email and Slack.
What did you find most impressive about them?
In general, NG Logic has been truly responsive. Everyone has been easy to work with, and they’re with us whenever issues arise. I have no complaints about them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their rates are high. That’s a reflection of market conditions, but their cost is something that could be improved. Nonetheless, they’ve been a great partner.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
NG Logic can source candidates with the skillsets you need, so I recommend them if you need to work with a partner like them.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of Provided. We’re an LLC based out of Utah. I also provide development staff and project management directly and through subcontracted work.
What challenge were you trying to address with NG Logic?
NG Logic is one of our subcontractors that I brought in for the clients who need their particular skill set.
What was the scope of their involvement?
NG Logic provides API and website development services. They use a mix of Python and Go as programming languages and Django as a framework. Their team also works with JavaScript and the React framework as well as a little bit of Gatsby and NestJS. Their work covers front- and backend development, and they implement designs from a UX team.
What is the team composition?
The team fluctuates between 6–12 people depending on the time. I work directly with the owner.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
I found them on Clutch. I interviewed most of the highly regarded firms internationally and in California that were highly rated in Python and Go. Looking at the ratio between price and quality of development, I ultimately went with NG Logic.
Their owner happened to be on a business trip to meet another client, so I had the opportunity to meet and talk to him. We discussed their development philosophies and got along very well.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $500,000 and $1 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing engagement started in June 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
From a development perspective, 85%–90% of their work product is now live and booking revenue in significant quantities.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
I have my own project manager who works as the liaison between the development staff and the business. The owner is very communicative. We talk a lot, optimize developer schedules, and swap developers if we need to. I handle project management from the business side of prioritization as well as handle our development sprints and schedule. We use GitLab, Jira, Cucumber, Sentry, and AWS.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I find their high quality of code delivery to be their most impressive quality. The architecture and implementation of that architecture are well-tested and well-constructed. My external Go consultant was impressed by NG Logic’s code and was curious where I found these phenomenal developers.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I can’t think of anything. They’ve been an excellent development partner.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure to know your own business. Development is only as strong as the understanding of the business behind it and the interface. Know what you want and how to properly articulate it in a very clear manner.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Divera AI is a strategy consultancy company that solves challenges related to market share and product development. I'm a project manager who develops new technologies to serve clients more efficiently.
For what projects/services did your company hire NG Logic?
We wanted to give clients access to project data through a cloud-based platform. I helped to develop the desktop platform, but we needed a web specialist to adapt that software to the cloud environment and adapt its UI.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted a robust, usable interface with a seamless workflow and no clutter or edge cases.
How did you select this vendor?
I didn't evaluate the vendors, but we settled on NG Logic after a brief discussion.
Describe the project in detail.
We had developed our own desktop software to help clients make strategic decisions. Although the workflow and UI were robust, its communication was clumsy, and its design wasn't user-friendly.
They built a simple, clean, user-friendly UI where clients could experiment with data and share real-time findings online. We prepared detailed briefs to guide them. We knew what we wanted, and they delivered an excellent implementation.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with their CEO.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We completed the first phase of the project, which our clients widely accepted as a success.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Our communication was fast and easy. We had a clear picture of what we wanted, and they realized our vision. It only took two revisions to achieve the results we requested.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They were eager to successfully complete our project. That attitude makes or breaks any job. I appreciated their fast responses to our problems and their robust, reliable code.
Are there any areas for improvement?
They should work with a capable graphic designer.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm a co-founder of a company that sells application configuration management software for data centers and other production environments.
For what projects/services did your company hire NG Logic?
NG Logic was contracted to design and develop the Windows platform control agent for our software suite.
What were your goals for this project?
We needed a network-managed control service for Windows that would allow dynamic workload routing as well as process control on many servers in a distributed environment.
How did you select this vendor?
Other companies in our industry recommended NG Logic.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
NG Logic completed software designs from high-level functionality outlines. They also handled all of the implementation and testing.
What was the team composition?
NG Logic interfaced with our primary development management and worked alongside our other employees. Despite working remotely, the team integrated seamlessly with our organization.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Our business relies on the Windows data center server management aspect of our product line. A robust and reliable control agent component has been—and continues to be—critical to the company's overall success.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
NG Logic managed the development relationship professionally. They sought direction and clarified requirements before making design and implementation decisions independently.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
NG Logic is skilled in both management and production.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
In our case, the time difference made communication somewhat challenging, but that's to be expected. NG Logic always responded within an appropriate timeframe.

Android App Dev for Fishing Tournament Service
"They’re great communicators and have very solid ideas."

the review
The client submitted this review online.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of FishDonkey, a mobile app for running catch-and-release fishing tournaments.
What were you trying to address with NG Logic?
Since we were starting a brand new business, we wanted to save some money on proof of concept and startup costs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
NG Logic built the Android app to correspond with our website, which was built by another party. Both platforms interact with the same database. The app allows users to run catch-and-release fishing tournaments on their smartphones while preventing cheating by controlling all aspects of taking and uploading photos. Users can also record and measure catches and place them on an online leaderboard.
The same functionalities aren’t available on our website, but users can create and monitor tournaments on the web.
What is the team dynamic?
I only dealt with the project manager at NG Logic and he handled everything.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
They came recommended by a friend. After discussing the project with them, I felt that the communication was very smooth and easy and that their technical knowledge was excellent.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with NG Logic in the summer of 2017. As we go forward, we plan to use them for the next iteration of our product, including the website.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We launched our company and now serve tournament directors in North America. We hosted several paid tournaments and multiple free tournaments with the app, and the feedback has been great.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re great communicators and have very solid ideas. The project costs need to be managed carefully, though.
What did you find most impressive about them?
When it came to fixing bugs, I found that they fixed things correctly the first time and understood the issues fairly quickly.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No. I’d like to do more work with this company and I plan on having them in charge of our next production release.

Staff Augmentation for Nonprofit-focused Software Provider
"They've got great personalities and are easy to work with."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of development for a nonprofit that develops software to help organizations that have volunteer management needs to organize their volunteers and use them more efficiently.
What challenge were you trying to address with NG Logic?
We were looking for team members who could augment our core development team on an ongoing basis whenever we have specific projects or just need some additional help. It was the key thing we were trying to solve.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They’ve done project management and mobile app development for Android and iOS. We were specifically looking for people familiar with LAMP stack and with Django experience.
At this point, they've probably done 40–50 projects with us and have done a great job on all of them. One of the current projects that they help us out with is our Android version (that’s already on the App Store) of our primary app. It’s an app where volunteers can log in to the app and have the ability to enter their hours, sign up for shifts, communicate with each other, and download files. We’ve just released the new version of that.
The workflow begins with coming up with a feature set and working with them on figuring out what’s an achievable sprint. We typically work in more of an Agile fashion with sprint cycles. They come back and provide details of what’s involved; we sign off on it and they execute it. They do an initial QA and then come for a second pass through our QA team. They help us deploy from there as well.
We've had pretty much the same core team members throughout the years. They've grown and added team members, and we’ve been pretty flexible with that. It’s a solid partnership.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
We found them through a referral from a friend who had been working with them on a few other projects and was happy with the results.
How much have you invested with NG Logic?
It’s probably around the range of $800,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
They did an initial project with us in 2011 and then did quite a few projects in 2012 until now.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
One of their overall strengths is that they're good at understanding what you're trying to achieve and they work as part of the team. You can give them general directions around certain areas, and they're able to think through it with you and come up with solutions.
They've directly interacted with some of our partners and are very flexible. In general, the team very much likes to work with them. They've got great personalities and are easy to work with. It's all been a very positive experience.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
They've been great. We use JIRA a lot for our scheduling. Depending on the project, we typically have either weekly or daily touch points with them which is always nice to have just to get a feel of where we have to go. They're very communicative.
What did you find most impressive about NG Logic?
Two things that stand out. First, they offer strong project management skills, which are important to us. They have their own team that can help augment ours with our own project managers.
Second, they also think through the problem and help you solve it, coming back with questions and alternatives. They're more than your traditional type who will execute whatever you tell them to do, which can cause problems. They're much more able to think through the problem and ask questions compared to other organizations we've worked with.
Are there any areas NG Logic could improve?
Sometimes, we'll go through periods when we don't have a regular touchpoint. That's a little bit more challenging as it would be with any kind of remote entity. Having regular touchpoints and making sure we do that has been very helpful for us. As long as we keep that up, it's very helpful.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with NG Logic?
The biggest thing is staying in close contact with them and making sure they really understand the specific problem that they're trying to solve collectively because they're able to help and provide input and feedback on that. I would treat them as another team member and keep them heavily involved in the planning and execution processes.

Django Development for Contract Management Platform
"I think the commitment of their team is unique and very much appreciated."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a VP of engineering for ContractRoom, which is a contract management company in San Mateo, California. I manage software development as well as product development. We’ve been using NG Logic for the last couple of years; I started working with them six months ago when I joined the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with NG Logic?
We were looking for Python development because our product is heavy on document management. We wanted someone experienced in Python, Mongo, Postgres, and Elasticsearch.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We have an in-house software development team as well as a QA team. Whenever we get a requirement, we discuss it with them and do the sprint planning. The operations team is used to resolve any software bugs or operation environment issues for the product because we are in the EC2 cloud, Amazon Cloud. We’ve had a couple of instances where we had in-house hosting, and for that, we needed NG Logic's operations. We could have some development on the operations side, and whenever we need it, we have a QA team that works with us to make sure the sprint or the operations have been tested before we push them into production.
When most people sign contracts digitally, they typically use a Word document or email. However, ContractRoom is managing this process over a cloud platform. People can negotiate these contracts between the requestor and the counterparties. We get a lot of analytics around how long it takes, who is signing, and the value. With that kind of information, we’re working on more machine learning right now. We know how long a contract is going to take, what kind of sections will take the longest, and whether existing text can be replaced with similar text. So, we’re working with sort of AI stuff, and this team is helping us to build that platform.
If you have a Word document you’re working on with other parties, you can upload this document into our platform, which is as good as a Word document. All the commands, such as strike-through or underline, are available. I think that is one of the best features for our users because creating these features is very difficult. It’s not possible for Microsoft to spend billions of dollars to create this kind of software in Office 365. The people at NG Logic were able to create a feature that’s as good as Word, and that’s why people like it. After uploading, users are able to modify the document.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
I don’t know how the company originally found NG Logic, as I only joined the company six months ago. I know they looked at several companies, and they short-listed NG Logic as a good development team. One of the reasons we hired them was because they have very good developers and software architects. They are experienced, and the way they did the POC [proof of concept] for our company showed that they’re a promising team as well as a promising way of working with us. They are eight or nine hours ahead of us, but they work closely with us. It’s as good as having an East Coast team, with us being on the West Coast. That is one of the features we liked with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
The company started working with them in 2014, and the relationship is ongoing.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
Some major corporations, including HPE, CSC, and Facebook, have started using this software. [HPE & CSC – Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and Computer Sciences Corporation – merged into DXC Technology in April 2017] The major portion was developed by NG Logic. These three big companies started using ContractRoom because of NG Logic’s development work. There is definitely strong evidence that we would not have gotten that business is we didn’t have a good product.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
I think they’re pretty good. On a scale of one to ten, I would say they're a seven or eight. There’s room for improvement, but they’ve done a pretty good job. We’re a startup and we move very fast, and they coped with that. If it was a bigger company, this would be much better aligned. For a startup, we had a lot of deadlines and a lot of big clients, and they were still able to manage that. We’ve used a couple of tools over the past two to three years, including Microsoft Project. However, we mostly use Excel for a lot of the project management work. We use a lot of different tools for code reviews and to manage the development cycles.
What did you find most impressive about NG Logic?
I think the commitment of their team is unique and very much appreciated. These guys work on Saturdays when needed, and they’re very hard-working.
Are there any areas NG Logic could improve?
I think they could improve in time management. They could improve the sprint cycles, releases, and bug-fixing better if they were managed properly.
Do you have any advice for future clients?
I would suggest that clients ensure that NG Logic is capable in the technologies they plan to use. Not everyone is going to use Python, Postgres, and Elasticsearch. As long as they find the right technology, and they have expertise, then NG Logic would be a good choice. We found that, as long as their technical skills are strong, we’re able to work with them.

Java Software Dev for Navigation Solutions Provider
"They’re very strong developers and have good communication skills."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of a company that builds software used by engineers and folks from the supply chain in manufacturing. We have a lot of expertise in working with enterprise systems, particularly PLM [product lifecycle management] systems.
What challenge were you trying to address with NG Logic?
We needed to enhance our staff with development resources that were skilled in Java processes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
NG Logic has provided solid Java skills particularly with web applications or integrations with enterprise systems, as well as some additional C++ and native code development. They’ve been essential in working on a couple of our projects. One is a web search tool for the supply chain around enterprise manufacturing data.
They’re also working on an integration platform we have that connects CAD tools, particularly electrical ones, to enterprise systems. It’s an Eclipse-based Java desktop tool involving integration technology.
There were 2–5 development resources that were assigned to us over the course of our relationship. We continue to have 2 full-time resources from NG Logic working on maintenance and additional features for these two projects.
How did you come to work with NG Logic?
They were already working for the company before I was hired. One of our clients referred them.
How much have you invested with NG Logic?
We don’t pay on a project-by-project basis but rather on a dedicated resource basis.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in 2010, and the work is ongoing.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
The couple of resources that we continue to maintain after 6 years is evidence that they’re doing good things for us. They’re very strong developers and have good communication skills. They interact with the US team seamlessly and are a good addition to the capacity of the team.
How did NG Logic perform from a project management standpoint?
We use them as dedicated resources, so we manage them and dictate their work priorities. The communication skills of the technical developers are very good —they have very good English. We run a modified Scrum process and use Slack heavily to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about NG Logic?
I don’t have any way to compare them with other firms. We’ve been happy with their work, so we’ve stayed engaged with them.
Are there any areas NG Logic could improve?
No. We’re happy with their work.
What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with NG Logic?
It’s important to have good development processes to get the right information to the right people. That’s important across the board with any development agency.
The company has had a great working relationship with NG Logic. The team has been highly responsive to their needs, and their resources are highly collaborative and cooperative. They manage the engagement effectively and communicate closely with the client. Overall, it’s a successful partnership.
