The Nerdysoft team played a very important role in allowing us to develop and mature our Click n' File document management solution that is purpose-built for the mortgage industry. They worked closely with us to design, develop, and test new user-facing features such as automated batch export, batch import, and UI enhancements. Nerdysoft also played a key part in implementing a few security-related and scalability-related features.

We required a team to come in an audit our existing software and provide a clear action plan on how to improve and stabilize code. The clear objective here was to reduce the number of ongoing bugs within the app. We also wanted support on achieving customer growth within the platform. We wanted to do this by utilizing the quickest off the shelf solutions in combination with our native technology. 

Finally, we wanted to expand and advance our offering harnessing the latest in generative AI solutions.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We required a team to come in an audit our existing software and provide a clear action plan on how to improve and stabilize code. The clear objective here was to reduce the number of ongoing bugs within the app. The app is regularly tested, and is functioning at a high level with vert minimal bugs coming from production environment. We also wanted support on achieving customer growth within the platform. 

We wanted to do this by utilizing the quickest off the shelf solutions in combination with our native technology. Out platform is usage has increase 10X since we brought on Nerdysoft and the results have been really tangible to the business success. Finally, we wanted to expand and advance our offering harnessing the latest in generative AI solutions. We are close to launching our newest feature within the App, none of which would have been possible without the expertise of the Nerdysoft team.

The team is hugely flexible and has been able to meet our requirements as our needs change. This has been particularly valuable in a environment that has been hugely straining on start ups. We have daily standups with the team and meet with the project manager on a bi-weekly basis to discuss team structure and plans.

We needed to revamp our online banking system’s UI.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Based on our previous site, NerdySoft revamped our online banking platform’s UI from scratch, including modernizing our existing code and making a new API. Regarding tools, they used Figma, Jira, Confluence, Ant Design, and React.

What was the team composition? 

We worked with around six members of NerdySoft’s team throughout the process, including a project manager, technical leads, UI designers, business analysts, and a QA specialist.

The platform that NerdySoft revamped looks modernized and professional. In addition, NerdySoft’s led a great process despite being affected by the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

How did NerdySoft perform from a project management standpoint?

NerdySoft’s project management was on point; they met our deadlines and were communicative through daily meetings.  We used Slack and Google Meet as our main communication channels.

What did you find most impressive about them?

NerdySoft’s workflow and processes are impeccable — I wish I could replicate it!

I didn’t think there was anything they could improve on because I had no issues with their performance.

We got in contact with NerdySoft through a personal contact who was travelling in Ukraine.

If I remember correctly we started off with a designer and a rough estimate on the initial work we would do. Since this is an ongoing project we have had multiple deliverables. The design has been conducted in Figma and the project management in Asana. The front end is in Angular, backend in Node JS and the app is in React Native.

Since 2016 we have had approximately five full stack developers, two testers, three designers and two app developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have received positive feedback from our clients regarding the feel and functionality of the product. Currently we have around 1,200 monthly active users in our platforms.

The NerdySoft team has been working with our internal team through 2 week sprints. Before each sprint we decide what are the most important tasks and estimate the time so we can fit the appropriate amount into the sprint. At the end of each sprint we have a demo meeting where we get to see the progress as well as a sprint retrospective and Backlog grooming.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We have been very happy with the personnel we have worked with at NerdySoft. Throughout the years the team has been passionate about our product and we have had talented people in all areas; development, testing, design, project management and support.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Throughout the years, NerdySoft has been responsive and understanding to different situations. The main difficulties have been related to positions where we don't need a person for 100% position. The team at NerdySoft has reacted the best they can to meet our needs while at the same time keeping the setup as good as possible for their employees.

I’m the CEO of Marketeu.

What challenge were you trying to address with NerdySoft?

I was trying to build a scalable platform that wasn’t just a simple web page — a real software product that had actual servers. As a result, I hired NerdySoft for a personal project I had for an online marketplace for containerized goods.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

All we had was an idea and a general plan. As a result, we went through a discovery phase to figure out which features we were going to need. After that, NerdySoft created our MVP’s product roadmap and initial designs. As a result, over the past year, we’ve been trying to finish the MVP’s front- and backend.

The features and functionalities of our marketplace are mainly focused on the management of orders and the integration of escrow services. The team is working on connecting APIs from an escrow service to our internal system, setting up rules for how we control our users, and creating administrators in the system. On top of that, they ensure that our system's UI/UX design is great.

On the security aspect of the project, the NerdySoft team is constantly setting up the servers to be more secure. They’re always finding ways to ensure that our external customers’ data is protected. They also frequently test our product — nothing gets released without being tested at least twice by multiple people. Right now, we’re about to launch our product to our first user base.

What is the team composition?

I initially met their director of operations and CEO. After that, I’ve been communicating with a primary contact and the rest are developers, designers, and engineers. I’ve also been meeting their operations staff every two weeks. We have 3–4 full-time people on this project and a few others who come in part-time, and all of their work is done remotely.

We’ve spent $150,000–$160,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing collaboration began in September 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

NerdySoft has been able to build our software from scratch, and the quality of their work is very good. They’ve also been pretty on the ball when it comes to securing our platform. In addition, they’re not just task-takers, and they suggest good improvements on their own. More importantly, they’re quick to resolve any issues.

How did NerdySoft perform from a project management standpoint?

We have regular phone calls and emails with NerdySoft. We also communicate through Slack and Google Hangouts. Their project manager is doing pretty well and keeps me informed on what’s going on with our project.

In addition, they discuss our future plans are and if we need to do any modifications. More importantly, they’re very punctual; they’re always in meetings before I am. Above all, whenever we need to pivot — which happens a lot — they’re always willing to switch up what we’re working on.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We highly appreciate that they have a lot of people to back them up. When the team they’ve assigned to us gets stuck on something or if they need mentorship in some way, they have senior leads who can help them out. Overall, they’re very capable people.

No, I can’t think of anything in particular that they can improve.

Do the initial discovery phase with NerdySoft because you’re not obligated to continue working with them after. Even though that will only take a month and it can be pretty expensive, you’ll come out with a product roadmap and designs if you don’t choose to work with them further.
