Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of The Better Schools Project, an educational organization with a program that helps schools find supplies to deliver projects.

What challenge were you trying to address with MOHARA?

Working with schools was a manual process for us, and we wanted a software to provide a data interface with our clients. We wanted to deploy a platform to allow users to visualize and track their maintenance requirements and tasks across the school. That would help users determine what providers they needed, allowing us to provide a more efficient, transparent service.

What was the scope of their involvement?

MOHARA developed our custom software that allows users to track their maintenance plans and put in details of any upcoming projects or tasks for them. The platform will send that data to us to enable our team to suggest different approaches to cover their pending assignments. Our main goal was to move from a manual process where users would pick up the phone and ask us for things to a data-driven method where they could put all of their feature requirements into a system that would let us know when to contact them.

Regarding the process, we had an idea of what we wanted the product to look like. Consequently, we communicated those ideas to MOHARA, and then they took that to create a roadmap and a wireframe. In terms of technologies, they built the database on WordPress.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 4–5 members of MOHARA's team, including Ben (COO), a senior developer, and a designer.

How did you come to work with MOHARA?

I met one of MOHARA's senior teammates at a networking event, and we chose them because, once we reached out to them, they took the time to listen to our needs and understand our market. They had experience deploying the type of software we needed, and we felt they could lead a strong process tailored to what we wanted.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent £20,000–£40,000 (approximately $24,200–$48,300 USD) with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from April 2016–January 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The software that MOHARA created ended up in 200–300 schools. Moreover, the retention and how often people used it was very high. Over 70% of those schools used it every week, and 19% at least once a month. These results translated into a revenue increase of 30%–40% for us.

How did MOHARA perform from a project management standpoint?

MOHARAT's team was very responsive to the changes we had to make once the product went live. They were super quick at getting things turned around and executed. Additionally, they led a communicative and personable process where they came to the schools with us to understand the product we wanted to make and the users we were targeting. That helped the relationship and product development.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We felt like MOHARAT was a partner rather than just a vendor because they were invested in the product's success and our business. Overall, they went the extra mile to get things done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I didn't think there was anything they could improve on — we'd definitely work with them again.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let them know your objectives and what you're trying to achieve as a business so they can advise on the right thing to build. They helped steer our product development and the feature set because they understood what we were trying to do.

Please describe your company and your position there.

Our company provides unique, simple, beautiful technology solutions for homeowners, developers, designers, architects and commercial teams. With over 30 years experience we provide design and installation expertise for a range of audio visual, networking, security, access, environmental control and bespoke smart home integration.

My role is head of creative. I work with all areas of the business to create a range of marketing and branding materials, design documentation, user interface design, 3D visualisation and pitch material.

For what projects/services did your company hire MOHARA, and what were your goals?

In 2018 we launched SAM, Our company’s aftercare app.

"Fully integrated with our in-house monitoring, scheduling and management system SAM acts as a portal between you and our service team. SAM provides you with another easy way to communicate with our aftercare team, from logging new issues and tracking existing ones, to viewing contract information, tech updates and how-to guides. As always, we’ll also be available at the end of the phone or in person if you need us to be."

The was initially designed and built by another company but they were no longer in a position to support it going forward so we approached Mohara.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

On initially speaking to Mohara they seemed keen, competent, interested in our project. They understood our requirements and were great in explaining the process of onboarding a brownfield application. They provided best and worse case scenarios in terms of various technical elements and the onboarding process of an app that hasn't been updated in a while.

This gave us a level of understanding as to the challenge of a project such as this and confidence in their ability to do the work.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We need the application to be updated with some bug fixes and minor enhancements required to bring it into line with the existing iOS updates and provide a more fluid link between the AT (AutoTask) API. AutoTask is separate ticketing system application used by the team to manage their workflow.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The project was delivered on-time (it may have even been slightly early) and was within the cost range described for a brownfields project which we were happy with. We were kept in the loop during the development phase with good communication of the work being carried out and which areas, if any, were taking more time to on-board than others or were quicker to complete than anticipated.

Any issues or snags found were described to us and the entire on-boarding process was completed very smoothly. Any bugs we found were dealt with quickly. Improvements to the app we required were understood by the Mohara team and implemented and deployed quickly.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Regular scheduled meetings, email and an involvement in testing made things run smoothly. Always happy to take a call or answer an email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I found working with Mohara a pleasure. They are keen to spend time to understand your requirements and play them back to you, allowing for a good time and cost estimation from the outset. They react quickly to questions and are great in explaining the technical elements in a way we understood. Everyone involved in the project I found to be super helpful.

During the development phase they keep you updated and hit the target dates without fail or complete before. During testing they are quick to respond and understand any bugs and fix them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not that i can think of...

For what projects/services did your company hire MOHARA, and what were your goals?

We needed a platform to administer online assessments to clients in a secure and scalable way. It included different levels of access, encryption, several functionalities and upgrades. We knew what we needed to happen, but we did not know how to make it happen as IT is not our strengths for sure.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The CEO, Richard Sams, was approachable, helpful and knowledgable, he understood the requirements and more importantly, the mission of our company.

I cannot give detailed, technical description of the work they delivered, that is their experise, we needed them for that reason. The communication was frequent and clear, any changes and challenges were addressed immediately.

Including designers, programmers, engineers, project managers, over 10 over the period of 3 years.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As everything was built from scratch, every step was measurable and visible and the most important outcome of that project is that we have over 200 licensed partners using the platform and our IP.

Most of the time we used Slack and I had direct communication with all the team members, not just the project manager which made the journey more efficient.

We like the human side of tech development.

So far so good and we still work together.

I’m the CEO of a full-service advertising agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with MOHARA?

We needed to build a website for one of our clients, but we didn’t have the in-house capabilities, so we outsourced the work to MOHARA.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We designed the website in-house, and MOHARA exclusively helped us with post-production development. I’m not very familiar with the technical aspects of the project, but I know that we shared a visual guide and general directions for the website. Once our team finalized the frontend designs, we shared the files with MOHARA, and they shared general design tips for the UX/UI. Then, they built the website from scratch on WordPress. 

Since the website was for a university, there were several regulations the team had to follow. They built various custom features, such as a search bar and filter mechanisms, to help users find books and published articles within subsections of the website. After completing the website, they offered maintenance services and facilitated the handoff to the end client.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four people: an account director, a project manager, and two developers. Our main point of contact was the account director. 

How did you come to work with MOHARA?

We’d worked with them in the past on a couple of projects and loved their work, so when we needed to build a WordPress website, we asked if they had the skillset to help us. We were excited to partner with them when they said yes. 

Initially, we found MOHARA through a recommendation from a well-respected local company. We were looking for a partner with a client-driven, holistic approach to projects. Their work was top-tier, and the team seemed kind and genuine, which resonated with us. 

How much have you invested with them?

We invested about $15,000 in the project. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on this project from June–November 2022. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

MOHARA built everything we asked for seamlessly and efficiently. They delivered a website that far exceeded expectations. Since we’re still in the process of rolling out key features, we don’t have any concrete data. However, our client’s management team has expressed their excitement for the website, which they feel adequately represents the university. Our client is 100% happy with the result, which is a great metric in and of itself.

How did MOHARA perform from a project management standpoint?

MOHARA was an exceptional partner; they did a phenomenal job communicating with us and relaying information and feedback. The account director maintained constant contact with us via Slack, which was very helpful. We met biweekly via Zoom to track progress. 

One of our favorite things about working with MOHARA was how realistic they were regarding the project scope. They kept timelines, resources, and our budget in mind when planning the project requirements. Ultimately, they delivered the project under budget and ahead of schedule. 

The team was also extremely understanding and flexible with pivots; they were very much on their toes when we decided to add or remove functionalities at the last minute. Furthermore, they were very engaged throughout the project, which made them feel like a true extension of our team. 

We faced minor issues during the website rollout, but MOHARA supported us as best they could despite the time difference. They assigned relevant team members to make changes and fix minor issues immediately as they arose, which was great. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were most impressed with the MOHARA team and their exceptional quality of work. The team managed the project so effectively that it felt like we never skipped a beat. They stayed on top of everything and delivered on their promises well ahead of schedule. Additionally, their communication was seamless across the board.

I also appreciated their willingness to push back on our feedback and engage in healthy conversations regarding our blind spots. They asked questions and collaborated with us to find the best possible solutions.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing MOHARA could have improved on; they fully satisfied our needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

No one likes to work in an ambiguous, nebulous environment, so I recommend setting clear expectations for what you’re looking for in terms of design, aesthetics, and functionality. Setting a solid foundation will set you up for success because it will allow MOHARA to get things done quickly.
