OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Modularity Bulgaria, and what were your goals?

The application had a manual data entry for scanned documents from our customers. This process was cumbersome and time-consuming. Automating this process would help speed up the processing of documents and provide a better customer experience. Modularity Bulgaria helped realize automated data entry and introduced a specific validation process for the business needs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found them through a project bulletin board. Modularity Bulgaria showed a deep interest in assisting us to realize the task at hand. After a quick chat, we scheduled a call and proved the high engagement of the team by providing the best possible result for the project needs.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Based on the AWS and Node as well as supported and extended a modern web frontend toolkit. They realized the integration of an automated system for processing scanned documents from the customers directly into the application storage using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and developed a validation step of those fields based on custom rules defined by the German tax office enforced requirements. Prototypes were developed to validate the business logic on every new change required and provided automated testing for the functionality that was delivered. They also introduced some time-bound reports and an automated invoicing system used with a third-party payment portal.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The co-founders were directly involved in facilitating the development process as they are senior developers. Additional personnel was engaged as per the project needs.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The introduced automation of processes removed a big chunk of manual work required for document validation and billing, allowing for customers to participate in the evaluation process of their documents. The increase in the effectiveness of the application is tenfold. Increased the overall code coverage of the application.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

They used our provided board of Asana, Bitbucket as a code repository where every new feature was published under a different branch and as a Pull Requests for review. Slack and email were used for discussions upon feature requests and business requirements. They follow an Agile approach using Scrum with sprints on a weekly basis.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are really engaged with the product that they are working on. Providing their expertise in both software development and business, they are able to deliver better results than expected. Working with Modularity Bulgaria is easy. They gave a feeling of security that the product would be handled with great care and professionalism. They are very responsive, collaborative, and adaptive to change.
