Our Story

I have been building websites in Bristol since 2010, and over 3,000 sites before that. Mediatopia is deliberately small — you deal with the person who designs, builds, hosts and supports your site, from the first call through to every change afterwards. No account managers, no offshore teams, no junior learning on your project. Several clients have been with me for more than a decade, which is the only measure of this work that really counts.

What Sets Us Apart

One person, start to finish

The person who quotes the work is the person who designs it, builds it, hosts it and answers the phone when something needs changing. No account managers relaying messages, no junior learning on your project, no offshore team in another timezone.

Bespoke code, never templates

Every site is built from scratch. No page builders, no theme with forty plugins holding it together, nothing that breaks the next time something updates. You own the site outright and it does what your business needs rather than what a theme author anticipated.

Fixed prices, agreed in writing

The scope and the price are agreed before any work starts, and that is what you pay. No hourly billing, no scope creep, no invoice at the end that is bigger than the quote.

You deal directly with me. No account manager relaying messages, no ticket queue for routine questions. Email, phone or WhatsApp, and you get an answer from the person doing the work.

Discovery and scope first, then a fixed price and timeline agreed in writing before anything starts. Design, build, staging site for sign-off, then launch. You see the site at every stage.

Deliberately few. Mediatopia is one person, which means I take on the number of projects I can genuinely give attention to rather than filling a pipeline and passing work down to whoever is free. It is also why clients get answers the same day rather than joining a queue.

Directly, and in whatever way suits them. Email, phone, WhatsApp — most clients end up using WhatsApp because it is quickest. You deal with the person building the site throughout, so nothing gets lost being relayed through an account manager. Sites are built on a staging environment you can see at every stage, and nothing goes live until you have signed it off.

Enquiries and rankings, not page views. Several clients have held first-page positions for their main search terms for over a decade, and for some of them the website is the only source of new business. The other measure is longevity — a number of clients have been with me for more than fifteen years, which does not happen if the work is not producing something.
