Thy provided front-and back end development for our mobile app. It's web and mobile-based and will be available on iOS and Android. We needed a lot of backend user-based data. People are going to have to be able to create user profiles and catch data on when users spend and how much they spend. We also wanted it to look aesthetically pleasing.

Research IP Design Ltd is the company responsible for the architecture and management of the software development of the Nexus platform and product. Nexus is a bespoke system that enables advertising and media companies to better control their financial administration, and operational management tasks.

We needed to expedite the creation of a media planning and buying feature that would vastly improve the capture and management of media placements.

What were your goals for this project?

To create a new web based media planning grid using Vue & Typescript as well as the required supplementation configuration and detail pages.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We were looking to outsource the development and after previous failed attempts making use of developers from other territories we explored making use of eastern European developers. Search results showed Limestone had high ratings from their existing clients, so we made contact hoping to put their skills to the test.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They interpreted and developed to spec a new front-end placement management portal. The project began with a technical vetting process, followed by project run through via video call. Once the project was initiated I spent some time at their offices in Kiyv to familiarise the team with the requirements and strategise implementation of components. Once started we continued with daily remote stand-ups and bi-weekly presentation of progress to the project stakeholders. Implementation was prompt and the developers were highly vested in the success of the project as well as the quality and maintainability of the software.

The project team had 4 people, myself as the technical coordinator of the implementation. Limestone supplied two developers, one front and one back-end developer as well as a project manager that would aid in communication when required

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The project sped up the delivery of the feature by roughly 2 man months and we were able to use the feature immediately as example implementation for future projects as well as demo-able POC to client.

Project management was mostly coordinated by myself as this was the arrangement from the onset. External project management was facilitated by Limestone to aid internal communication and planning

Their commitment to the success of the project. They are enthusiastic and focused on adhering to coding best practices. Mark has a hands-on approach to ensure his staff are contributing to client expectation, and open to hear about possible improvements.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

As mentioned the almost not reachable deadline in this project could cause a huge profit lose. Thanks to guys from Limestone and their willingness to work overtime we didn't need to change the deadline of the project.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated over Jira, Teams on daily basis. Our scrum was very effective. We appreciate their approach to development, and there were no issues in our style of collaboration with them.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

This company is able to help in almost all issues we have and maybe the speed of their adaptability is very good.

Yes there are probably some. But at the moment we are fully satisfied.

I’m the president of a software platform in the e-sports world. We have an e-sports platform that’s used by schools and organizations for whom we develop our own software.

What challenge were you trying to address with Limestone Digital?

Our biggest challenge is that it is difficult to maintain a medium to large development team employing fully on-shore developers. Limestone Digital allows us to support our US-based team with Limestone Digital’s resources overseas.

What was the scope of their involvement?

In general, Limestone Digital works together with our US office and provides several layers of resources. They actually handle both project management and product management services. One side of that is to help keep projects on task, and the other is that they’re also very good at maintaining product integrity.

Their work covers pretty much any relevant technology you can think of, whether that’s CSS, HTML, AngularJS, React frontend, Java, PSP, or anything else. Through those two components, they provide both frontend and backend development resources that work in conjunction with our team.

The platform itself is obviously a very large scope, so certain components are typically assigned to their team, and they’re able to see those components from beginning to end. They’re involved in the planning and execution, the QA, and then ultimately in delivering that component to us.

We work with about 10 people from their team.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Limestone Digital’s work saves our company a lot of time and allows us to roll out features much faster. We are always able to trust the quality and timing of their components, which frees us up to focus more intently on the parts of our projects assigned to our US teams and increases the quality of all of our work.

How did Limestone Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

When we hand them a project, they will break a large task into weekly sprints with their own defined deliverables on their own. Then they will take your English API documentation and produce that documentation from back to front, and exactly on schedule. Having two designated people—one who understands the product in and out, and another who is actually managing the project—allows for that level of coordination and reliability.

Their method of organizing their staff is also really effective. A lot of times, what happens behind the scenes overseas can be a bit of a mystery, but with Limestone Digital, they’ll either recruit from the outside or from within and assign people that are dedicated to your project. Over time you form a relationship with all the people on your team and can work with their strengths and weaknesses the same way you would in-house.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The biggest thing is just that they can take a large component and break it down into very defined objectives that they then deliver on time. Having worked with so many companies, I can tell you that you just don’t get that with other teams. That’s what everybody’s missing and it’s what they do best.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re great and they’re so reasonably priced, there’s really nothing I could pinpoint that they could improve.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I think this applies to any time you’re taking a project to a development house, but people have different levels of risk tolerance. There are people who prefer that the development team ask a lot of questions before making decisions on their own, and people who prefer they just figure things out and come back with a solution. It’s important that the style you prefer is communicated at the beginning of the project and on a regular basis throughout the work.

I'm the director of operations at Toco Warranty. We sell vehicle service contracts to consumers. We do a lot of our sales in-house, but we also have an e-commerce funnel.

We wanted to generate more leads through our website, so we needed a vendor to help us with our website and internal Salesforce development. We went through many different companies, but we still had ongoing issues and bugs. We were looking for a new company to work with us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our customers were receiving unnecessary pop-up messages because of the technical issues we were having on the backend, which stopped them in the middle of a sales process. Limestone Digital cleared out the bugs that were causing those pop-ups, so now our customers can proceed all the way through the funnel to purchase. They also fixed the quote retrieval process, enabling our customers to come back and retrieve the information they need. In addition, Limestone Digital helped us with our vendor management and lead tracking. 

We have a lot of ongoing projects at any time. They also handle the website design and write press releases for us. If I have a request, I fill out the details, attach a screenshot, and send everything to them. Almost  immediately, I get a confirmation email saying that it's been scheduled and added to the devs scope of work.

Within the first 60 days of us working together, Limestone Digital resolved about 75% of all the issues we had been experiencing for years. Our conversion rate and our sales have skyrocketed. Our website also loads much faster. We can set up promo codes ourselves and schedule them for weeks in advance. People really want to take advantage of those promo codes, so that helped us boost our sales. 

How did Limestone Digital perform from a project management standpoint? 

They understand exactly what I ask of them, but they're also available to hop on the phone call when needed. If they know of a better way to do things, they'll always make suggestions, which we find invaluable. We mostly use Write to keep track of the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very knowledgeable and have been able to guide us in the right direction. They're really focused on making us happy and work long hours to make sure they meet our needs.

I can’t think of anything.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They meet our needs in a timely manner. Whenever we’ve had an issue with a developer underperforming, they’ve informed me immediately. We are still in development, but we have some customers using the system already and they are very happy with it.

How did Limestone Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

The project manager is very understanding and good at what he does. He delegates assignments to their developers and makes sure tasks are done efficiently. We communicate on the phone and use Clubhouse project management software to track the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They proactively monitor their team’s work and identify and address issues as soon as they arise. In particular, my relationship with the project manager is more effective than anything I’ve experienced with previous vendors.

We did experience some issues early in the engagement, but we’ve resolved them and I can’t think of any shortcomings now.

Clients should be open about issues and address them with the vendor immediately. Waiting too long into the process will lead to an unsatisfactory result.

I’m the head of R&D at Vienna Water Monitoring Solutions (VWMS) GmBH. We’re an Austrian company that develops and produces a line of devices called the ColiMinder series. With our products, users can automatically monitor microbial water contamination online for different organisms.

We needed IT specialists to further develop a database-driven IoT platform (Big Data). The platform connects with our devices to visualize and analyze contamination measurements, track errors, and notify customers.

Our objective was to have an installable, centralized/decentralized server-client web app that could query live and historical data in real time. We also wanted the app to have a responsive design.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We held an online video conference with Limestone Digital to evaluate their development team’s capabilities. We concluded that they understood the tasks at hand and had all the necessary resources to handle implementation.

They first tackled the UX design, making modifications based on our feedback. Next, they used our technical requirements and documentation to develop the front- and backend. As the project progressed, we introduced new ideas, which they were happy to accommodate. They currently continue to provide ongoing maintenance and support.

We discussed each step of the development in detail through Slack and Google Hangouts. They also used Google Docs and Sheets to send daily activity reports from the developers as well as monthly progress reports.

They’re a young, creative-minded team that works quickly. Furthermore, I appreciate their in-depth understanding of our needs.

Their team is extremely dedicated. They overcame the time zone issue by working late when necessary. Among development firms, their process is unique. In addition to a project manager, they have a delivery officer who is focused on delivering results.

We work at a startup speed with agile, quick turnarounds. They are capable of working within that environment and turning things around very quickly. They understand the business side and get us what we need. That flow works very well.

How did Limestone Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They do an amazing job. We use Wrike for project management, but we speak to them all the time. We communicate through GitLab, Wrike, email and maybe Slack. We talk to a broad range of people on their side, some of them daily. Other people in the company are not directly involved with our project but help with HR issues and hiring.

Their vision is extremely unique. They are not just there to sell seats to developers and make money. They choose their clients very specifically. They only want to work with clients that know what they want, and that have very strong business goals that parallel their technology and product goals. As long as the business can maintain that communication, the delivery lifecycle is amazing.

To get the best out of them, you must demand the best from yourself. If you can demand from yourself that same discipline and deep understanding of your needs, you will get it from them as well.
