Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO for an enterprise IoT [Internet of things] platform for corporations and government. It’s a relatively young company that emerged from other experiences and professionals in IoT.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Codenmate?

We developed web and mobile frontends for our IoT platform for public lighting, parking, and smart buildings.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They used JavaScript and Angular2 for frontend development, and .NET and C# for the backend. They also used Objective-C in iOS and Android development for our smart parking mobile applications.

What is the team composition?

We’ve become more interrelated throughout our relationship, and they’re now majorly involved with the platform’s maintenance. They usually assigned 3 developers, but it varied depending on timing.  

How did you come to work with Codenmate?

I did a global web search and found them on a platform. I searched for specific technologies, and after evaluating other firms, I reached out to Codenmate.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together for 10 months.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our platform has 3 verticals. We were able to show the functioning prototype to our IoT platform for public lighting and smart parking. From there, we were able to close other projects this year. Codenmate’s involvement in development of this solid platform has helped us accomplish our goals. It would’ve been much more difficult without this new platform, so Codenmate has had an important impact on our company.

How did Codenmate perform from a project management standpoint?

Our communication is very fluid. We used Trello and Jira for communication, as well as some other Visual Studio tools. We managed most of the projects ourselves.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Generally, everything went well. I was impressed with the dominance of the coding frameworks, and their team is very knowledgeable. They are able to develop really strong code.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They failed to understand requirements sometimes. It wasn’t as simple as one would have expected, but remote work is also challenging. We mitigated the risk by meeting in person since we are both based in Buenos Aires.

I’m the CEO of a software and hardware company for home-connected solutions. It falls under the IoT [Internet of Things] or smart homes category.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Codenmate?

We have different IoT solutions and platforms such as an application called myHabitat, which controls devices in a house or residence. One of our objectives was to incorporate products such as electronic door locks and webcams to our apps.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve worked on our applications in order to make changes and improvements to them. On one project, they included a feature to submit reviews. They’ve mainly worked on both Android and iOS but they’ve used Xamarin as well.

What is the team dynamic?

We had 2 developers to begin with and now we are asking for a third developer to get on board.

How did you come to work with Codenmate?

One of our company’s partners discovered them. He contacted them and recommended the possibility of working together. From there, we did some test projects and thought that their results were satisfactory so we started collaborating in a more continuous way.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2017 and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One small yet concrete result is how they managed to incorporate a review system within one of our apps, which we didn’t have before. For the electronic door lock project, we didn’t have an incorporated scheduling option and they managed to create it very well. This and more is why we’ve decided to continue working with them.

How did Codenmate perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly use Jira as a communication and project management tool. We have a project manager within our firm who follows up with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the main reasons why we chose them is that they have a very open attitude. Whenever they face a problem, they try to reach a concrete solution to solve it. While some other agencies focus on why not to do it, they focus on solving it. They’re very hands-on and focused as well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Maybe there is some structure needed in terms of scheduling or meeting deadlines.
