I'm the Innovation Manager at a large Midwest steel processing company. We are a critical part of the steel supply chain and process metal coils for customers in the agriculture, construction, transportation, and forestry sectors.

We launched a new website in 2021, and we hired KARMA jack initially to maintain our website and ensure functionality. However, we quickly asked KJ to manage our social media management platforms once we experienced their high level of customer service. Our goal -- on both the website and social media front -- was to improve our online image, share our values, and celebrate our employees.

KJ was one of three vendors that we considered. We were introduced through a personal contact, however it was the professionalism, care, and concern from Joel, Shelby, Jono, and Halley that won us over.

We approached KJ with very specific requests -- website and social media management. However, KJ still walked us through a brand discovery process, learned about our company and our employees, a developed a plan that met our needs and fit our budget. Through 2021, they have exceeded expectation. Quick fixes to website glitches, and professional social media posts. As 2022 kicks off, we are planning a review of our goals and will adjust our digital marketing strategy as required. They have been excellent advisors as we launch into new territory!

Funny -- the folks at KJ don't seem constrained by title or position. I always feel like they are ALL there to serve me and my company. Having said that, I work primarily with two individuals. Shelby is a phenomenal customer service rep; she is knowledgeable and responsive. You'll be hard pressed to find a title associated with Joel on any email or even LinkedIn. He is a humble and compassionate leader who understands the world of marketing and how to lead a highly effective team. I know there is a team of folks behind these two, but Joel and Shelby are my primary resources.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

KJ has more than doubled our social media following on LinkedIn and Facebook in just six months.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As stated previously, Shelby is very responsive. We have two primary contacts at my company, and one (in Shelby) and KJ. Our regular business flows are well established, to include a monthly "check-in" meeting. KJ always accommodates when we make last minutes requests for pop-up meetings.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I live in a bit of a stodgy manufacturing world. Their perspective and leadership helps us attract a new generation of customers and employees that engage in new ways. KJ is insightful, helpful, friendly, and fun.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They can continue to grow in creativity with our social media posts -- to move beyond some of the existing language and content from our website.

The work flow was great. We had a constant flow of email communication and bi-weekly calls to go over strategy and results.

KARMA jack not only does a great running ad campaigns, they also offer ideas to help grow my business. They do this even when it won't personally benefit them as a company. KJ greatly impacted the trajectory of Rootless and we wouldn't be where we are without them. Their work ethic and demeanor show they truly care about me and my company.

I’m the president & owner of Game Day Signs. We’ve developed a new way of producing signs for sporting activities. We’ve also made signs for the Girl Scouts of America. We also create big head signs. Our signs are made out of fabric material, so customers never have to worry about them being torn or broken. They’re also reusable and sustainable.

Their work has been tremendous. They’ve taken us from earning zero leads to earning four quality, solid, closeable leads per day. The results are unbelievable for the four months we’ve been working together.

From a communication standpoint, they’ve been absolutely responsive 100% of the time, even after hours or on weekends. They’re very thorough and detail-oriented; if anything I’m the one that slows things down.

Their branding expertise and ability to go from strategy to implementation is key for any business. They smoothly took over efforts from our previous company and fixed those gaps, which was tremendous.

We were just launching our nonprofit and needed to build a website. We tried to build our own using Squarespace and a few other platforms, but it was more challenging than we thought. It became clear we were not digitally savvy enough to complete it on our own.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Traffic to our website has been growing since our launch. Everyone who has viewed our website, from colleagues to other military organizations, has been telling us how awesome the website looks—I even get texts and emails about it. Compared to our competitors, our website stands out. It has a much different look and feel, which we enjoy. 

How did KARMA jack perform from a project management standpoint?

Having a one-on-one relationship with Joel was wonderful. He was clear from the beginning how the work would be divided between our two teams, especially from a content building standpoint. He was happy to speak to us as little or as much as we wanted, and we spoke with him almost every day. Joel was happy to provide us with feedback when we wanted it and remained engaged throughout the process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

KARMA jack went above and beyond in coaching us through what the digital space is about. They were very upfront about how fast or slow a project could move based on collaborating together as well as what our responsibilities in the project would be. The team was very timely and when Joel would set a call with us, he would always let us know how long the call would take. We felt a strong connection with them. They understood what our goals were, which made the project flow really nicely. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly don’t think so. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open-minded and honest with your vision. Having a few examples to give them, either things you do or don’t like, helps them build a concept for you and get your content back to you quickly. There is a large portion that falls on you as the business owner, so hold up your end of the bargain to keep the timeline on track.

Joel treats us like family, addressing any of our problems as if they were his own. I've even received emails from him after work hours because he's working late to ensure everything is running smoothly for us.

Their responsiveness is extraordinary. I usually hear back within an hour, even when I contact them later in the evening. We also use Trello, which is a blessing and keeps everyone on task. We were slow to adapt to the tools they use, but they still match pace with everything we need them to do. We're the only thing holding them back from working faster.

Their biggest strength is their willingness to think outside the box. When we started, we had a very specific goal in mind. After a few conversations, we realized we could trust their suggestions.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

KARMA jack Digital Marketing Company demonstrates their value when something goes wrong. It’s easy to succeed when things are smooth, but it’s huge that they can be counted on when there’s a problem. Recently there was an issue where an ad for school choice was flagged as being political, which wasn't true but the name of the school district sounds political. Their team worked all weekend through phone calls and text messages to resolve the issue and make sure the ad would run as soon as possible. I was really impressed. 

Their willingness to work over weekends is indicative of their commitment to act quickly to address any problem. If a client doesn't like something, they'll give them their money back immediately. I've never had to do that but I appreciate their policy.

Their invoicing process is great. They produce good-looking digital invoices and make it easy to pay. They also send reminders, but not too many.

It’s easy to work with them, either in person or over the phone. The KARMA jack Digital Marketing Company team is super personable and seem to really be into their work.

No, not really. They're hitting the mark, and I'm super grateful for what they do for me.
