BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Practice Manager for a Dermatology Practice. We have 8 physicians, 6 PAs, and 103 employees total. We provide dermatology services for all age ranges.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Kaiser IT Group?

Our company was building a new 45,000 square foot building in which we are the owners and sole occupants. Kaiser was hired to do all wiring, security, phones, audio, and IT consulting for this project. They also took lead on organizing the group of people on the project team ensuring that all involved stayed on task.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Kaiser provides IT services for us such as handling our network and has for several years. They are trustworthy and do not try to sell us things we don't need.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We started with project planning well in advance of the building. The Kaiser team was with us the entire way. We had project meetings once a week with internal team to talk about the needs in the environment and meetings once a week with the project team that included our construction crew, architects, designers, and Kaiser.

Once shell of building was up we would walk through the building to ensure security was going to be in appropriate areas etc. At move in Kaiser team moved all IT equipment from previous environment to new building and spent the weekend ensuring that our physicians were able to see patients on Monday morning.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

5 Owner, 4 technicians (sorry don't official titles) each has their own areas of expertise. Owner is great, knowledgeable, and available. 1 tech main focus was security and infrastructure, 1 was more audio, 1 was wiring, 1 was more help desk type

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Overall costs moving from previous building to new building down 25% due to changes Kaiser helped to implement such as changing of security systems, audio systems, computers we were using.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Everything was completed on time. Due to COVID we were on an extreme time crunch and this team was amazing. If something didn't go as planned they fixed it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I have worked with many IT companies and the most impressive is the honesty of this group. They take the time to really get to know your organization to help you figure out what it is that you really need. They will show you the items with all the bells and whistles but also give you an alternative if the other is outside of your budget.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I honestly think the world of this company. If I had to choose one area for improvement it would be not to over promise. There were times that we were told "yes, no problem, you can absolutely do that!" (this was mainly to do with things we hated with our current systems such as our old audio system) but then when it came down to it we couldn't. This could've just been because it was us and we have a longstanding history with this company.
