BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

We are a telecommunications company that provide wholesale VoIP termination and offers high-quality routes.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire IngDev (In-Group Limited)?

Firstly, I need to explain that I don’t do recommendations but when you read this one you will see why I have made an exception in this case. We first contacted a couple of other software development companies with our requirements but none of them really seemed to get it or grasp the understanding of what it was we were truly looking for.

After mentioning the problem to a colleague at a major telecoms partner of ours, were given IngDev’s information and contacted them through their website with a brief high-level view as to what we required.

What were your goals for this project?

Expecting the usual sales emails and calls hounding us to start, it was very refreshing when they simply emailed us with a technical overview from their point of view and a list of other possible options that could also be implemented into the design.

To be honest they sent us variables we hadn’t even thought of along with a list of short questions that took us back to the meeting room to discuss for a couple of hours. One or two more emails and we set up a conference call.

They had the design scope and timescale waiting for us plus the offer of a concise FSD (Functional Specification Document) - as long as one or two of our team would be available to work with them on it for a day or so. Unbelievably, we had previously been quoted £3-5k for the FSD alone.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

They had no conditions except that they would produce exactly what was expected, that it would be fit for purpose and documented so a new team could pick up where they left off if we weren’t happy at any stage of the project. Obviously, they were hired on the spot.

Describe the project in detail.

The project changed slightly as we progressed and some minor issues appeared from our side that were nothing to do with IngDev. Their project manager made no fuss and simplified every issue into a choice which they presented us.

They came in very slightly under budget even with all the changes and they worked overtime to make sure it was available for the launch of our new sister platform right on time.

What was the team composition?

The dealing with other 3rd party issues (which they didn’t have to) in our landscape that ensured the product was released on time and did exactly as was required, was nothing less than outstanding.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The ‘piece de resistance’ was their vast expertise in SAM (Software Asset Management) that meant we not only had highly professional licensing help and advice from a senior consultant but that advice, incredibly - saved us more in licensing fees than the cost of the development did in the long run.

The cherry on the top, and why I have written this lengthy review. We also couldn’t be happier with the service and the support we have received since.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They are a great technical team and easy people to work with, most of all they just listen to everything you have to say no matter how small or insignificant you think it is.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

With worldwide cloud coverage, based in London and multi-lingual staff on hand 24/7. We highly recommend IngDev for both their Software Development AND Software Asset Management services.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were totally happy, but everyone has room for improvement, on this project no.
