The company was hired to develop a custom website for a multi-service business services startup

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately, this engagement was deeply disappointing and did not deliver even remotely the outcome I was looking for. The final product was not launch-ready, and core requirements I consistently have been asking for were either partially implemented or missing entirely.

The team’s position continued to shift — from “we’ll get it done now,” to “we’ll get it done in the new year,” to ultimately “it won’t be done because it’s outside the scope.”, etc. As a result, I lost trust in the firm and was left in a situation where, at the peak of the holiday season, I had to urgently find another team to bring the site to the finish line.

This was not my first software project (just first with immediac), so I do have a point of reference with other agencies/developers. But based on my experience, immediac appears better suited to basic, template-driven work where your input is minimal rather than custom or modern implementations.

On a more granular level:

1. Wireframing and functional design
The most significant issue was skipped wireframing and functional design phases. In every prior project I’ve worked on, we began with static wireframes and basic functional mock-ups before development. That step didn’t exist here, and I eventually had to create sketches myself. I believe this alone would have prevented many issues with the project.

2. Revision accuracy and execution quality
There was a recurring gap between requested changes and what was delivered. On several occasions, I provided detailed guidance and mock-ups, was told the work was complete, and then discovered it was only partially implemented (in one case, only 60% done). This lack of attention to detail led to far more revision cycles than should have been necessary.

3. Prioritization of functionality
Visual elements were often prioritized over core functionality. I’ve been raising concerns about missing functionality as early as the second week of our engagement, yet I was only told that those functional requirements would not be met the day before launch. At that point, I was also told that I had never requested those features, despite multiple emails and an entire meeting dedicated specifically to discussing them.

Overall, I cannot recommend this agency to anyone, specifically for projects that require custom functionality, modern UX, flexibility, or an iterative, detail-oriented process that needs precision and efficiency.

Project management was a complete disaster. At various points, I was told that my working style ‘differed from other clients’ they are used to work with, that I was providing too many comments, asking to implement things that didn’t matter, or that I had not raised issues I had in fact emailed about earlier. In general, it always felt like the responsibility for all the project shortcomings was being shifted entirely onto me rather than addressed collaboratively, and I had to adjust to how they did things not vice versa.

Learning to listen to their clients instead of pushing back and blaming them for everything that goes wrong with the project
