I'm the Digital Team Lead for Canada's largest vaping distributor in Canada

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Haust - Ecommerce Development Agency, and what were your goals?

Project 1: Create branded websites that follow the same base code but are able to change it's skin to distinguish each brand. These branded websites targets end consumers. Project 2: Create an easy-to-order B2B platform. This involved complex discounts, bundles, product visibility, and connection with our ERP.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The deciding factor is that Haust took the time to understand and access our business needs first. They came on multiple virtuals to map out our journey. We started giving smaller projects, and in less than a quarter we were providing them with the heaviest projects that would be detrimental to our business if development fails, that's how much we trust Haust.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Our goals were to make seamless websites across our brands that could transform it's skin using Shopify's limited template. We also had to segment the website to have totally different product offerings and landing pages based on location which was not fully offered by Shopify at the time. Adding on multiple simultaneous promotions, bundles and instant discounts without coupons in the cart that were all unheard of by any developer but Haust accomplished it.

Not only that, Haust took an entire solution approach to ensure the backend being so customizable was intuitive for our team to update with step-by-step virtual tutorials for our team to get familiar with.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We work with the founder of the company and their developer. The team has now expanded to provide a project manager as well due to the large scope of projects we keep on expanding with Haust's new members.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The feedback from our B2B retailers and B2C consumers is that the user journey is flawless. On Google Analytics we see a minimum drop-off due to journey. At the end of the day, features are delivered on time without bugs and without cross-functional issues with other customizations.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Project management tools are a combination of Asana, Google Docs, and Figma. All of which are organically used to keep our company and Haust in check

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They will conduct virtual calls with us to dissect or even brainstorm a problem on a weekly or, if needed, even daily. Never had I found a development company that will look 3 steps ahead to pre-build expandable functions for the future. We feel like Haust takes pride in our business and is not a contractor to us but really an extension of our E-commerce Team.

They are really understanding that these calls are important to us, and of course, for all hours, it is charged, but charged at a very reasonable rate that is lower than actual development time because they understand that understanding our problems and uncovering more opportunities is also more business for them as well.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Expansion of more team members to handle more projects as our company keeps on expanding our portfolio with Haust due to the great work they've delivered in the past.
