BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the manager of marketing, PR, and physician outreach at Sibley Heart Center Cardiology. We have 21 outpatient clinics and inpatient services at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Heart Center.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Green Melon Marketing?

Our internal marketing department was very small — only two people — and had more work than we could handle. We reached out to Green Melon Marketing to do some consulting for some projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Green Melon Marketing provides us with ad-hoc marketing services. We’ve provided them with our brand guidelines and a visual identity document for them to follow. Since we’re a hospital system, there are certain things that we can and can’t do, so we went through a process of providing the team with our requirements for deliverables, the differences between our parent company and us, and our processes. 

Our first project was blog writing. We had created a blog page that they took over. They did an exercise to identify our keywords so that we could optimize the blog, including content and titles. They wrote four blog posts a month for us at the time, which involved an interview, writing, and posting on our blog. About three months later, they took over our social media posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. They did all the scheduling and provided the content we wanted them to share. Since we brought in a teammate in-house, they don’t manage our social media anymore. 

Currently, Green Melon Marketing does ad-hoc marketing work for us. We have a contract where they adjust the scope to that deliverable if we need additional work. For example, we’re going through changes within the company, and they’re updating our YouTube page. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with Green Melon Marketing’s owners; one helped with the consulting agreement and when we signed our contract, and the other has helped with digital marketing. We also work with a project manager and have a new point of contact. 

How did you come to work with Green Melon Marketing?

One of our employees had reached out to Green Melon Marketing for another project that didn’t work out. When we were looking for a marketing company, they came to mind. After interviewing several other companies, we felt Green Melon Marketing was a match for us due to their professionalism and all the information they shared. 

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent almost $100,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2018, and our engagement is ongoing. We renew our contract with them yearly.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Initially, we provided them with points they should meet by the end of the year based on our internal goals, and Green Melon Marketing has successfully met those goals. These benchmarks included increased followers, likes, and engagement on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. 

Working with the team has been a pleasure; they always check in and offer additional services, even outside the project's scope. When we ask about things like Google Business Profile, they're open to answering our questions and giving us additional help. Overall, this partnership has been a great collaboration, and we hope to continue working with Green Melon Marketing. I would recommend them and have done so over the years. 

How did Green Melon Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication is great. They communicate daily and recap what they're working on at the start of each week, where they provide a list of deliverables and their progress. They're quick to respond if we have questions, and we do the same for them. Green Melon Marketing acts like part of our team because we communicate to ensure we're on the right track. We use Microsoft Teams or Zoom for meetings. For project management, we use Google Docs and a marketing dashboard.

We also have quarterly meetings with both our entire teams. One of the owners attends this meeting to ensure her team is providing us with the service we need. Each year, we have a six-month check-in to see where they are, and then at the end of the year, we determine if they were successful or not.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm impressed with Green Melon Marketing's level of service. They're very organized, stay on top of things, and have excellent communication — their customer service is awesome. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I've seen them improve throughout our engagement. Right now, there's nothing they need to do differently.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should consider hiring Green Melon Marketing — a great full-service company. The owner is professional and easy to work with. Moreover, the team can handle any range of marketing activities; if they can't, they have vendors they can outsource for you.
