Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
We hired Geminate Solutions to build Pixytan from the ground up — a complete GPS vehicle security and tracking system that includes both a hardware-integrated IoT backend and a consumer-facing mobile application.
The scope covered the full product lifecycle. On the mobile app side, Geminate developed the iOS application with real-time live location tracking that shows precise addresses and vehicle speed on a map. They built the remote engine lock and unlock feature, which allows us to cut or restore the vehicle engine directly from the app — this was critical for theft prevention and emergency response. They also developed the geo-fencing module where users can define safe zones like home or office and receive instant push notifications whenever the vehicle crosses those boundaries.
One of the more complex deliverables was the history playback feature, which lets users select any date and replay the entire route with timestamps, addresses, and stops visualized on the map. Geminate also built a daily statistics dashboard that shows total distance travelled, run time, idle time, stoppage time, maximum speed, and average speed — along with a graphical analytics layer that compares daily driving patterns against historical averages.
On the backend, they handled the entire IoT architecture — the cloud server that receives and processes real-time GPS data from the wired hardware device, the push notification infrastructure, and the communication protocols between the device and the app. They also built the multi-vehicle fleet management dashboard so that fleet operators can monitor all their vehicles from a single login with role-based access.
Key deliverables included the iOS mobile application published on the App Store, the real-time IoT cloud backend, the GPS device integration layer, the fleet management module, the analytics and reporting engine, and the user-facing dashboard with map integrations. The product was delivered retail-ready — it is now sold on Amazon India and Flipkart with 6 months of pre-loaded SIM data and 1 year of app subscription included in every unit.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The biggest outcome is that Pixytan is now actively tracking more than 30,000 vehicles daily — which is a number we honestly did not expect to hit this early. Going from zero to 30,000 vehicles on the platform validates both the product quality and the backend architecture that Geminate built to handle that scale of real-time GPS data processing.
The product launched as a fully market-ready solution and is now live and selling on the Apple App Store, Amazon India, and Flipkart. Geminate delivered all 8 core features on schedule — live tracking, remote engine control, geo-fencing, history playback, daily statistics, graphical analytics, multi-vehicle dashboard, and push notifications. The app went from concept to App Store publication without a single rejection from Apple, which speaks to the code quality and compliance their team maintained.
In terms of real-world performance, the system handles 30,000+ concurrent vehicle tracking sessions daily without noticeable lag or downtime. The GPS tracking accuracy has been consistently reliable — customers in their Amazon reviews have specifically praised the pinpoint location accuracy and the ease of use of the app. The remote engine lock feature works instantly, which was our biggest technical concern going into the project.
From a business perspective, the product is generating revenue through direct sales on Amazon and Flipkart. We have attracted both individual vehicle owners and fleet operators managing hundreds of vehicles from a single dashboard, which opened up a strong B2B revenue stream. The fleet management module has been particularly valuable for logistics and delivery companies.
The 6-month pre-loaded SIM data approach that Geminate recommended during planning turned out to be a key differentiator — it reduced customer support tickets significantly because users did not need to deal with SIM activation on their own. That decision directly improved our Amazon ratings and reduced return rates.
Overall, Geminate took us from an idea to a platform serving 30,000+ vehicles daily, competing with established players in the Indian GPS tracker market — and the system has been running stable with no major downtime since launch.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Geminate's project management was one of the strongest aspects of working with them. From the very first week, they set up a clear project plan broken into sprints with defined milestones — so we always knew what was being worked on, what was coming next, and whether we were on track.
They assigned a dedicated project manager who was our single point of contact throughout the engagement. Communication was extremely responsive — we could reach them on WhatsApp or email and would typically get a reply within a couple of hours, sometimes faster. For a project involving both hardware integration and software development, that kind of responsiveness was critical because issues would come up that needed quick decisions.
In terms of delivery, they hit every major milestone on time. The initial app prototype was delivered on schedule, the IoT backend integration was completed when promised, and the final product went live on the App Store within the timeline we had agreed on. There were a few minor delays during the hardware-software integration phase — which is normal for any IoT project — but Geminate communicated those proactively and adjusted the schedule without letting it affect the overall launch date.
What impressed us most was how they responded to changes. As we started testing with real vehicles, we identified several improvements we wanted — tweaks to the geo-fence notification speed, adjustments to the history playback map rendering, and some UI changes based on early user feedback. Geminate absorbed those changes without pushing back or inflating the scope. They treated our feedback as part of the process, not as extra work.
They also conducted weekly demo calls where they showed us working features on a live device, not just screenshots or slide decks. That gave us real confidence that the product was coming together properly. By the time we reached the final testing phase, there were very few surprises because we had been reviewing working builds throughout the project.
Overall, their project management felt like working with an in-house team rather than an external vendor. They were organized, transparent, quick to respond, and delivered what they promised.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The most impressive thing about Geminate Solutions is that they think like a product company, not a typical outsourcing vendor. Most development agencies we spoke to before Geminate were focused on taking requirements and writing code. Geminate was different — they challenged our assumptions, suggested better technical approaches, and actively contributed to product decisions that we would not have thought of on our own.
A perfect example is the 6-month pre-loaded SIM data idea. We originally planned to ship the GPS device without SIM and let users activate their own data plan. Geminate pushed back and recommended bundling pre-loaded SIM data so the product would work out of the box with zero friction. That single suggestion became one of our biggest competitive advantages on Amazon — customers specifically mention it in reviews as a reason they chose Pixytan over other trackers.
Their IoT expertise was genuinely deep, not surface-level. Building a system that reliably processes real-time GPS data from 30,000+ vehicles daily is not something every development team can do. The backend has been rock solid — we have not had a single major outage since launch. That kind of infrastructure reliability is what separates a product that scales from one that breaks under pressure.
What also stood out was their ownership mindset. There were multiple moments during development where they identified potential issues before we even noticed them — edge cases in the geo-fencing logic, battery optimization for continuous GPS polling, notification delivery reliability across different Android and iOS versions. They did not wait to be told. They flagged it, proposed a fix, and implemented it.
Finally, the cost-to-quality ratio was exceptional. For what we paid, we got a product that is now live on the App Store, selling on Amazon, serving tens of thousands of vehicles, and competing directly with brands that have been in the market for years. I would not hesitate to work with Geminate again on our next product.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Geminate Solutions Private Limited could have done differently?
This is the "Areas for improvement" question. This is important — never leave it blank and never say "nothing." Clutch verifiers flag all-positive reviews as suspicious. A small, constructive critique actually makes the entire review more credible and trustworthy. Here's what to paste:
If I had to point out one area, it would be documentation. During the development phase, Geminate's team was moving fast and delivering features quickly, which was great — but the technical documentation for the IoT backend and API layer could have been more detailed from the start. When we needed to onboard an additional team member on our side to handle some post-launch configurations, it took a bit of extra time to get them up to speed because the docs were not as thorough as the code itself.
To their credit, when we raised this, they updated the documentation within a week and it has been solid since then. So it was not a dealbreaker at all — more of a minor gap in the process that they corrected quickly once we flagged it.
The only other thing I would mention is that as a growing team, their availability can sometimes get tight if you need to scale up resources quickly for a new phase. We had a brief period where we wanted to accelerate the Android version and had to wait a couple of weeks for additional developers to become available. Again, not a major issue, but worth planning around if you have aggressive timelines.
Neither of these affected the final product or our overall experience — they are just small things that could make an already strong process even better.
