BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder of WeTutor, an education platform for Private Tutors in the UK.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire FOXBEGIN, and what were your goals?

We wanted to develop a mobile application which was specifically tailored to the needs of private tutors. Our aim was to establish a simple, easy to use application which enabled tutors to be better organised in terms of tracking student progress and communicating with parents.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched across freelancers platforms for developers with a view to finding a partner who would be able to do more than merely meet our brief which was somewhat limited by our lack of experience in developing apps - but who could add value by understanding our objectives in full and then utilising their experience to meet them in the very best way.

FoxBegin's proposal stood out as the quote seemed fair (neither the cheapest/nor the most expensive) and following a consultation with Lewis - I was assured that they had both the technical and communication skills necessary to bring our vision to fruition.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Following an initial meeting to outline our vision and discuss key features, I delivered a brief to the project manager which he assessed and this was followed by a further meeting to discuss ideas on how these could be implemented.

From here, FoxBegin designed the wire frames, the Graphic designs of all the app pages before proceeding onto native clickthroughs and then onto core functionality for both iOS and Android.

Throughout each step - we've tested extensively and FoxBegin have been very accommodating as we discovered necessary features which we were not aware of it at the project inception.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I've worked directly with Lewis who is the Project Manager but had some interactions with other team members on occasions.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The App is currently 95% complete and we're working out the last set of bugs and changes. It works well across both iOS and Android versions - with both versions synchronising well so I'm confident that regardless of the mobile device our users are operating - they'll be able to utilise the app to full capacity. Also received positive feedback from testers so far.....final round of BETA testing pending.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Project manager Lewis is extremely easy personable and has a clear understanding and enthusiasm for the project. Always kept me aware of timeframes and the process, quick to resolve issues and misunderstandings and clearly very knowledgeable in this field.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

As this was our first mobile app - they've been very patient and walked us through the process. We've been able to evolve the app through different iterations and they've always taken care to ensure our expectations have been met.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

If I was being extremely critical - I would say that the project has taken a bit longer to complete than expected but to be fair we've committed to getting the project done right and we've always been kept in the loop through each development cycle.

FOXBEGIN is thorough and willing to ensure that everything is working well; even throwing in a key extra feature and a landing page without charge. So ultimately - I think the extra time has been well spent and will result in us launching a far superior application than if we'd stuck to our original timelines so we're very pleased.
