Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the e-commerce general manager for Red Hot Sunglasses. We sell designer sunglasses with the majority of our sales in the U.K., but we sell them internationally as well.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Found Digital Ltd?

We had a lackluster website which was in need of an update. There were a lot of errors and tech issues with it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We brought them on initially to do quarterly tech audits of the site, and they worked on site with our current SEO company. They highlighted some of the major tech issues, and our trust scores and citation scores were out of kilter. They brought to light that our mobile site wasn’t up to date and wasn’t a responsive design.

We asked our web developers to redevelop the site based on the analytical research that Found Digital did for us, and they then came on board full-time. They helped us with the migration from the old site to the new one and migrated all of the URL structure, making sure that everything moved across without any problems.

The homepage drop-down menu on the site was full, which Found Digital realized through research on keywords and user shopping behavior on the site. They came back with a full report on our drop-down menu, which shows gender, brand, style, color, and the most popular search terms.

They helped a lot with the content on the site which was optimized for SEO. Found Digital guided content re-writes with suggestions for keywords and ways to present the content.

How did you come to work with Found Digital Ltd?

We were referred to them by our PPC company who had experience with them previously.

How much have you invested in them?

We work with them on a day rate which is £600 ($799 USD). Some months, we ask them to allocate 3–4 days, which averages around £3,000 ($3,995 USD) per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We initially started working on a quarterly tech audit in January 2016. By the end of 2016, we were working with them for both tech and SEO. The work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the site went live in January of this year, we’ve seen a revenue increase of 26% so far. We’ve seen a website conversion rate increase of 10%, and overall traffic increased by 15%. The site speed was really slow, and they improved our site speed drastically. Previously, we were running at about 16 seconds for full load speed of the homepage, and now it is down to about three seconds. A lot of that is due to their techniques and suggestions.

How did Found Digital Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very proactive and responsive to our needs. If major errors occur with the site, they usually spot them before we do.

They built us a bespoke Basecamp which we all had access to. Project notes, as well as start and completion dates for each task, were added. We have insight into the work in progress.

We have ongoing support from them and have a monthly meeting with the managing director who suggests tasks and monitors the website for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are a very small team and we speak to them face-to-face. They are very transparent in what they do and explain everything they do.
